US & Israel oppose ceasefire claiming it will benefit Hamas

The United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have called for an immediate ceasefire in the intense fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The U.S. Criticized them for rushing it through and leaving the call for an unconditional ceasefire unchanged. Meanwhile, Britain abstained because there was no condemnation of Hamas.
