Hundreds of thousands of Spaniards took to the streets of Madrid and other cities across Spain to protest against the government's decision to grant amnesty to Catalan separatists. The protests were organized by the main opposition party and were peaceful. In Madrid's Puerta del Sol, an estimated 80,000 protesters filled the square and side streets to capacity.
