Taliban Bars Medical Education for Women

After a ban on senior school and university education for girls, a new Taliban diktat bars women from medical education. It's another setback for women and also for Afghanistan which is already reeling from soaring childbirth mortality rates. This move keeping women out of work like nursing and midwifery threatens to make things worse. This report on Inside South Asia analyses the issue.
