Sweden school attack: 18-year-old attacker wore helmet, had prior assault conviction

A sword-wielding man injured several people at Brinell High School in Fagersta, central Sweden, on Friday, August 21, triggering a major emergency response. Police said they received an alarm about suspected deadly violence and sent all available resources to the school. One person was later taken into custody, and authorities said there was no longer any danger to the public. The school has around 450 students aged 16 to 20. Reports said several people were injured, with two teenage boys among those seriously hurt. Emergency services, police vehicles and a helicopter were deployed as authorities secured the area.
