An alarming public health crisis has emerged in western India as a severe outbreak of the Chandipura virus (CHPV) claims the lives of 22 children in Gujarat, with mounting cross-border cases and heightened surveillance reported in neighboring Rajasthan. State health officials confirmed that out of 184 suspected cases tested during the monsoon season, 35 have laboratory-confirmed infections, all affecting children under 15.
