Orca moms protect their sons from social injury, but not their daughters: Study

In a study, scientists found that adult orca male whales are well protected by their mother from 'social injury'. While these mothers tend to leave their daughters to fend for themselves. The research shows that killer adult male orcas are less likely to be victims of whale fights. This is if their mothers are still around past their reproductive age.
