As temperatures continue to soar across India's plains, thousands of tourists are heading to Himachal Pradesh's cooler hill stations, creating massive traffic congestion on the Mandi-Kullu highway. Long queues of vehicles have been reported as travellers flock to destinations like Kullu and Manali for a weekend escape from the heat. Over 3.3 lakh vehicles entered the state in 10 days, bringing peak-season travel to a crawl.
