Israel-Gaza war: Hamas dissolves Gaza governing body after 20 years
After nearly 20 years in charge, Hamas has announced it will dissolve its governing body in Gaza. The Palestinian movement says it’s making way for a technocratic committee to handle civilian administration in the territory. This comes months after the October ceasefire with Israel, and while Hamas has said before it’s ready to step back from day-to-day rule, the bigger question of disarmament is still on the table.
