According to a Reuters investigation, U.S. intelligence gathering flights have been operating over large parts of Nigeria since late November. Flight tracking data and U.S. officials suggest increased security cooperation between Washington and Abuja, following President Donald Trump’s warnings over violence targeting Christian communities. Analysts say the missions may mark a renewed U.S. intelligence presence in West Africa after its withdrawal from Niger, raising questions about surveillance, counterterrorism efforts, and regional security dynamics.
