U.S. President Donald Trump has launched fresh attacks on Africa’s two biggest economies — Nigeria and South Africa.
He has threatened military action against Nigeria over what he calls the “killing of Christians,” and questioned South Africa’s place in the G20 just weeks before it hosts a major global summit.
Nigeria has hit back, calling Trump’s remarks “misinformed” and warning against American interference.
With conflicting data and complex realities on the ground, analysts say Trump’s rhetoric risks igniting a new diplomatic flashpoint in Africa.
