The euro zone ended 2023 on a bad note. The economic output contracted for 18th straight month. This indicates that a recovery is unlikely any time soon, and that the economy is already in deep recession. The manufacturing index, seen as a good gauge of economic health, fell slightly from 44.6 in November to 44.4 in December.
