Cyprus cancels asylum applications

Adding to the woes of Syrian refugees, Cyprus has decided to suspend asylum applications of Syrians. According to the Cypriot government, the island nation recorded more than 2,000 arrivals by sea in the first month of 2024, as compared to only 78, during the same time in 2023.
