Brazil: 44 killed in clash with police in week, wave of protests erupt across nation

In Brazil's Rio De Janeiro, nine people have been shot dead by police. The police claimed that they fired in retaliation to the attacks by the drug gangs. Police raid in a low-income neighborhood of Rio De Janeiro set off the the crossfire that added to the count of those killed in a week to 44.
