One day after a bridge crossing the Ganga under construction in the Indian state of Bihar collapsed, the state's chief minister, Nitish Kumar, acknowledged the bridge's poor design. He claimed that the bridge in the district of Bhagalpur was improperly built and that it had also collapsed the previous year. He promised to take action against those responsible.
