Airplane Exhaust: Study Finds Toxic Nanoparticles in Cabin Air
A new study has found that airplane exhaust releases toxic nanoparticles—specifically "onion-like" and amorphous particles—during takeoff and landing, which can invade cabin air and be breathed in by passengers. These ultrafine particles, originating from jet engine emissions and lubrication oil, are as small as 10–20 nanometers and can penetrate deep into the respiratory tract, raising health concerns for frequent fliers.
