Taking aim at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the Congress party’s enthusiasm following this year’s Lok Sabha results, Shah said that only those who win take the oath as Prime Minister, while those who lose sit in opposition.

“Rahul Gandhi said in Parliament that they defeated us in the Lok Sabha elections. I don't understand why his allies don't explain it to him that those who lose sit in the chair of opposition and who wins, takes the oath as the PM,” Shah said.

Moreover, it is not just happening in the Indian oceans, but there have been two hurricanes in a very short span of time in the Atlantic, that is hurricanes Helene and Milton. It is happening across the globe, wherever the ocean water is warming, it is causing more events," he said.&nbsp;

Shifting to the cyclone situation in India, Johari&nbsp;said &nbsp;"The Bay of Bengal has had more cyclone events but the frequency has now increased a little bit. There was a time when the average was about two to three events per year, but it is increasing now."&nbsp;

Cyclone Dana made landfall in Odisha early Friday, leading to heavy rainfall and strong winds across coastal regions. Initially, it came with a speed of 110 kmph.&nbsp;However, later, it weakened to a cyclonic storm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD reported that Cyclone Dana, after making landfall, is likely to continue moving northwest across north Odisha, weakening into a deep depression over the next six hours.

"If we look at WB, its trajectory is still such that, there will be winds in West Bengal. Only the least impact band is going to be there. There is going to be a lot of rain, there could be potential for floods but as far as the impact of wind is considered, it won't have much impact," he said.&nbsp;

Johari&nbsp;continued, "However, the impact could come in form of a flood. Odisha will experience 110 kmph, and West Bengal may experience 80 kmph as it is on the outer band."&nbsp;

Further, there is going to be a decent impact on electricity, according to RMSI estimates, Johari said.&nbsp;

"There is going to be a lot of tree fall as a result of that, many polls can also get uprooted, which could lead to electric power disruption in a lot of ways," he added.&nbsp;

The Met warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy downpours in isolated places in the south Bengal districts of North and South 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly districts on October 24 and 25.

Advising fishermen not to venture into the sea from October 23 to 25, the Met warned that wind speed is likely to reach 60 kmph along and off Odisha-West Bengal coasts from October 23 and gradually increase to 120 kmph, from October 24 night till October 25 morning.

More than 170 express and passenger trains running through South Eastern Railway (SER) jurisdiction have been cancelled in view of the severe cyclonic storm, an official said.

The trains cancelled were scheduled to depart their originating stations between October 23 and 27, the SER official said, adding that more trains running through the SER zone may be cancelled if the situation demands.

The Kolkata-headquartered SER zone is spread across West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.

The Eastern Railway (ER) will not operate any EMU local train from Sealdah station in its south and Hasnabad sections from 8:00 pm on October 24 till 10:00 am on October 25 in view of the cyclonic storm 'Dana' over the Bay of Bengal, an official said.

The official said that the last train from Hasnabad and Namkhana stations, which are close to the coastal areas in North and South 24 Parganas districts, will depart towards Sealdah by 7:00 pm on October 24.

The ER also cancelled 68 suburban trains in its Howrah division on October 25, he said.

Ferry services in the Sunderbans area spread over North and South 24 Parganas districts and also across River Hooghly in Kolkata and adjoining areas will remain cancelled in view of the impending inclement weather, officials said.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has opened a control room at its headquarters here and cancelled the leaves of all essential staff to tackle any emergency.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said it is on high alert and has mobilised its vessels and aircraft to respond swiftly to any contingency over the Bay of Bengal.

In&nbsp;new evidence in the Kolkata rape and murder of a trainee female doctor, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Wednesday (Oct 9) has listed 11 pieces of evidence in its charge sheet against accused Sanjay Roy.&nbsp;

The agency mentioned in the document that Roy raped and murdered the woman doctor while she was resting in the college's seminar hall.&nbsp;

CBI also ruled out the possibility of gang rape in the case. The agency, moreover, found Sanjay Roy's DNA on the body of the victim. They also found his hair on the crime scene. There were injuries on the man's body and blood stains of the victim on his clothes.&nbsp;

The female doctor, who was working at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal's Kolkata, was brutally raped and murdered in the hospital's seminar room on August 9.

On the next day, Sanjay Roy was arrested. The woman was throttled and smothered by Sanjay Roy, it said.

Meanwhile, according to the document, the CCTV footage and his mobile phone's location verified his presence at the crime scene.&nbsp;

The agency's charge sheet mentioned that Roy sustained "blunt force injuries consistent with the marks of resistance/struggle by the victim".

"His (Roy's) presence in RG Kar Medical College &amp; Hospital and also at the third floor of the emergency building where SoC (scene of the crime) lies, during the intervening night of August 8 and 9 is proved by way of CCTV footage. His presence is proved by way of the location of his mobile phone as per CDR," the CBI charge sheet stated.

Earlier on August 12, the Kolkata Police recovered blood stains on Roy's clothes and footwear.&nbsp;

"(There were) presence of his DNA on the reference DNA/questioned DNA detected from the dead body of the 'V' (victim) during autopsy...the presence of blood stains of 'V' on his jeans and footwear which were recovered by the local police on August 12 in pursuance of his disclosure statement. The short hair found from the SoC has matched with accused Sanjay Roy," the charge sheet added.

CBI in its charge sheet said that there were clear signs of sexual assault on the woman's body.

"The injuries related to the hymen, which were fresh in origin, clearly indicated that the victim had suffered forceful penetrative sexual assault. It is further corroborated with the report of a swab taken from (the) area around both nipples showing the presence of saliva belonging to Sanjay Roy as confirmed by DNA," the charge sheet added.

“We have been in close contact with the West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front and are united in our stance,” said Suvrankar Datta, President of FAIMA.

“After extensive deliberation, we have decided to organise a nationwide hunger strike in solidarity with our colleagues in West Bengal, Datta said.

Datta also emphasised that the hunger strike is intended to amplify the voices of the junior doctors who have been on strike for weeks, advocating for better working conditions, enhanced safety protocols, and other essential reforms.

The doctors’ association has also called on healthcare workers across the country to participate in the strike, to highlight unity among medical professionals in their fight for fair treatment and improved conditions, FAIMA said in a statement.
