After Justin Trudeau linked the killing of Khalistani Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada to India, another Khalistani terrorist Sukhdool Singh was killed on Canadian soil amidst a fiery inter-gang rivalry. Two rival gangs have stepped up to claim responsibility for this audacious act, but Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has chosen silence at this crucial juncture. It raises questions about whether Trudeau has become a guardian of gangsters and highlights the concerning presence of Khalistani gangsters and their activities in Canada.

India-Canada ties hit rock-bottom: 'Allegations are politically driven'

Amid the deepening diplomatic divide between India and Canada, New Delhi raises concerns about the ongoing developments related to the killing of Khalistani terrorists in Ottawa and tagged the allegations as politically motivated. New Delhi also asked Canada to share proof of its allegations.

As tensions brew between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, WION reached out to Dr Vivek Mishra, a Fellow with ORF's Strategic Studies Programme, to dissect the situation and offer a nuanced perspective on Canada's stance regarding the Khalistani movement and its broader implications. Dr Mishra said that Trudeau is playing vote bank politics to keep the political support he needs to remain in power. He highlighted that the Trudeau government heavily relies on support from the New Democratic Party (NDP).

Trudeau staged drama in India over presidential suite ahead of G20: Report

Applicants for Canadian PR (Permanent Residency), educational consultants working with Canada, and those interested in studying abroad succumb to anxiety as Indo-Canadian ties continue to deteriorate, The Indian Express reported.

After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested that the Indian government had a "potential link" to the murder of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the Canadian Parliament, the situation deteriorated as Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat on Monday. In Surrey, British Columbia, Nijjar was fatally shot in front of a Gurudwara.

The strained ties have presently become a huge issue for both governments as India has a sizable student population and a Punjabi diaspora in Canada, and Canadian educational institutions rely significantly on international students, 40 per cent of whom are from India.

“I cleared my IELTS (International English Language Testing System) just last month, and now I’m researching various universities in Canada, as my ultimate dream is to settle there after my studies. However, I’m afraid the Canadian embassy may deny me a student visa,” The India express quoted Vikramjit Singh Arora, a student from Jalandhar.

Another student, Ashnoor Kaur, claims that her adviser informed her that prospects for "study abroad" won't be impacted because neither Canada nor India would want to stop this procedure. “I spoke to my consultant, who is assisting me in gaining admission to a Canadian college, and he assured me that there’s no need to worry,” Kaur told The Indian Express.

However, some consultants say that international students may be affected by the situation. According to consultant Gurpreet Singh, who has ten years of experience in the industry, Indian students make about 40 per cent of all foreign students who move to Canada each year. Such a large source of revenue cannot be disregarded by Canada. She said that those who wish to immigrate to Canada must keep a lookout for how each nation manages traveller admission at its own borders.

Other consultants speculated that people advocating study abroad in nations other than Canada would take advantage of this development to cast doubt on Canada by making unfounded claims about its influence on international education. There have been worries that student admittance into both nations may become more difficult.

Apart from students, a couple from Jalandhar who had applied for Canadian PR and anticipated receiving it by the end of this year expressed their concerns. They told the Indian Express, “We have been eagerly awaiting our PR status by the end of this year, but now we fear it might get delayed. Even if relations improve, there could still be a few months’ delay.”

Another Jalandhar-based PR is hopeful. “Most of my family members are settled in Canada, and they are eagerly waiting for me to join them as my PR is expected any moment. India and Canada must act sensibly, as these political decisions could affect our future,” he told the Indian Express.

India and Canada hit pause on FTA talks after Trudeau visit

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has finally flown back home after a delay of 2 days. Was Trudeau in no rush to leave India? Priyanka Sharma tells you more.

Gravitas: Did Canada PM Justin Trudeau turn down Indian government's generous Air India One offer?

In a display of diplomatic courtesy, the Indian government extended an offer of assistance to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after his official aircraft encountered technical difficulties during his visit to India for the G20 summit. Prime Minister Trudeau's visit to India, which commenced on September 8, was marred by an unexpected turn of events when his plane suffered a technical snag, stranding him in Delhi for over 36 hours.

He left Delhi, with his delegation on Tuesday at around 2 PM IST. The Indian government, acting swiftly and proactively, offered the services of India's official aircraft, Air India One, to facilitate Trudeau's immediate departure.

Air India One, also known as India 1, is operated by the Indian Air Force and is reserved for use by the President, Vice President, and Prime Minister of India.

However, Canada's response to India's generous offer raised eyebrows. It took six hours for Canada to convey their regret and decline the offer, stating their intention to await the arrival of their own aircraft.

This delay in response added an element of intrigue to the already complicated diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

On Friday, a coastal city in Quebec ordered some 10,000 of its residents to evacuate their homes. The wildfires are spreading in eastern Canada and firefighting resources are already stretched tackling the fires across the country.

The wildfires have scorched more than 2.7 million hectares of land so far this year across Canada.
Blair said in a briefing on Friday morning that there were 214 fires burning across Canada out of which 93 are out of control. 29,000 people have been evacuated.

Canada wildfires: 'This is a scary time,' says PM Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau struck 'manner legs' pose while meeting a Korean politician prior to the G7 meeting in Hiroshima when he travelled to South Korea with a group of Canadian ministers to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations and to lock a multibillion-dollar battery factory contract.

Trudeau posed for pictures with Korean officials, including the speaker of the national assembly, Kim Jin-pyo, before delivering an address to the legislature. Earlier, Kim stood on his tiptoes in a political banter to reduce the 20 cm (8 in) height difference between him and Trudeau.
