Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane recently revealed his favourite Indian Premier League (IPL) team as cricket fans around the world continue to enjoy the ongoing 15th edition of the tournament. IPL 2022 which got underway in March this year has so far produced a number of enthralling contests between the ten teams which are part of the competition.

Kane, who is a huge fan of Virat Kohli having met the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain a few times, said he is a fan of RCB due to his equation with the batting maestro. Kane, who is one of the best strikers in the world at present, believes RCB has picked some good players this season and hopes they can do well.

Kane spoke about his love for Kohli and RCB in a video shared by Star Sports. The England football team captain said he likes watching all IPL teams but RCB are his favourite.

“So my team is RCB. I have been lucky enough to meet Virat Kohli a few times and speak with him. They have picked up some good players this time," said Kane.

“They were unlucky last year but they did the right things this year, they started well. There are some great teams at the IPL. I just like watching all of them to be honest but hopefully, RCB can go well,” he added.

Kohli might be undergoing a rough patch with the willow in recent times but remains one of the bet batters in the world. "The health and wellbeing of all concerned remains our priority."

Earlier in the day Brentford manager Thomas Frank called for all Premier League games in the coming week to be postponed to allow clubs to recover their depleted squads.

Tottenham, who reported 13 positive tests among players and staff, have had two Premier League games postponed after last week's trip to Brighton was also called off.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers on Wednesday criticised the Premier League after an initial request to have Thursday`s game against Tottenham postponed was turned down.

With December traditionally a packed fixture list, Rodgers, who had nine players unavailable, said lucrative TV deals were being prioritised over the health of players.

"I'm pretty sure that's the case," Rodgers told reporters when asked. "In terms of players, managers and coaches, we all want to play the games. Ultimately the health of a player is the priority. If players are available, you get a better product."

The Premier League said the decision to grant a postponement came after Leicester reported more cases.

"In light of the new information, Leicester applied this morning for the fixture to be called off due to an ongoing outbreak within the squad, which has resulted in more players and staff testing positive for COVID-19 today," it said.

"This has left the club with an insufficient number of players available to fulfil the game."

'THROUGH THE ROOF'

Brighton lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday after an unsuccessful attempt to have the game postponed because of COVID cases.

Speaking on Thursday, Brentford boss Frank said he was dealing with 13 cases at the London club.

"Everyone is dealing with it and everyone has a problem at this moment in time. The Premier League has re-introduced "emergency measures" after announcing on Monday a record 42 new positive COVID cases in the past week. Players now need to take lateral flow tests every day and two PCR tests per week.

League rules state that if a team cannot raise 14 players then a game can be postponed, although other factors, such as impact on preparation and whether or not there has been an "uncontrollable outbreak" are taken into account.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a second match postponed this week after the Premier League agreed on Thursday to call off Sunday`s game at Brighton &amp; Hove Albion due to a number of COVID-19 cases at the London club. Spurs had their Europa Conference League game at home to Stade Rennais on Thursday called off by UEFA on Wednesday after the club said they had 13 positive coronavirus cases -- eight players and five members of staff. 
"The Premier League Board has taken the decision to postpone the game following guidance from medical advisers, with the health of players and staff the priority," the league said in a statement.

"The postponed fixture will be rescheduled in due course and the Premier League wishes a quick recovery to those with COVID-19." Rennes criticised the decision to postpone the Europa League game, saying it was taken unilaterally by Tottenham and that they reserved the right to appeal to UEFA.

"UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage match, Tottenham Hotspur v Stade Rennais FC, which was due to be played on 9 December in London, will not be taking place as scheduled," the governing body said in a statement. Manchester United thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford in the Premier League on Saturday to ease the pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ronaldo struck in the 39th minute with a perfect right-foot volley into the far corner of Hugo Lloris`s net from a glorious pass by Portuguese compatriot Bruno Fernandes.

Cavani added the second in the 64th and substitute Rashford wrapped up a comfortable win four minutes from time as United put last weekend`s 5-0 home drubbing by Liverpool behind them.

"Great goals, all of them," Solskjaer said. "The first one is the major one. What a pass from Bruno and Cristiano is the best. If he misses one he`s still as focused for the next one.

"The experience of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano is massive. We need it. We can`t hide. The week has been difficult for all the players. They really stuck at it."

United`s first Premier League win since Sept. 19 lifted them to fifth in the table on 17 points from 10 games, while Nuno Espirito Santo`s shot-shy Spurs side are in eighth on 15.

The visitors came into the match following a week in which questions were raised about the future of Solskjaer after arch-rivals Liverpool ran them ragged at Old Trafford on Sunday.

But led by the class of Ronaldo the visitors dug in and battled for their under-fire boss in a first half which ended with the Portuguese volleying the opener to settle his side.

It was Ronaldo`s 11th goal in 19 games against Spurs and the forward has scored more times against the London side than any other English team during his career.

Tottenham struggled to carve out any clear openings with Harry Kane lacking support despite the efforts of Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, whose substitution was booed by the home fans.

Ten minutes later Cavani was played through by Ronaldo and the Uruguayan calmly clipped the ball into the net to give United breathing space and silence the disgruntled home crowd.

It was left for Rashford to come off the bench and apply the coup de grace with a simple finish to give Solskjaer hope that he can turn the season around and save his job.

Asked if the win means United can forget about the defeat by Liverpool, Solskjaer said: "Of course it doesn`t. That`s always going to be in the history books - one of the darkest days. A dark spot on our CV. But football becomes history so quickly."

Tottenham`s capitulation means their manager Nuno finds the spotlight fixed on his tenure in his first season in charge with his side lacking creativity and failing to get a shot on target.

Spurs have scored their fewest goals after 10 league games since 2013-14 when they also got nine, while United kept their second clean sheet in 22 games in all competitions.

Jimmy Greaves, one of England's most prolific strikers, has died at the age of 81, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur said on Sunday.

Greaves, who suffered a stroke six years ago, started his career with Chelsea and scored a then club-record 124 league goals for the London club between 1957 and 1961.

He is Tottenham's record goal scorer with 266 goals, having played for them from 1961-1970. His 37 league goals in the 1962-63 season remains a club record.

Greaves was part of England's 1966 World Cup-winning squad and scored 44 goals in 57 internationals, making him the country's fourth-highest scorer behind Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker.

Tottenham said in a statement&nbsp;that Greaves, who also had a short spell with Italian club AC Milan, died at his home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has urged soccer's governing bodies to come up with a solution for players travelling on international duty to other countries to avoid a repeat of the crisis that has engulfed the Premier League.

Many clubs refused to release players to 'red list' countries but Spurs' Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez went on international duty and will miss Saturday's game at Crystal Palace due to quarantine protocols.

The trio are returning to England via Croatia -- where they are currently training -- to avoid a 10-day hotel quarantine and Nuno said he could not fault them for deciding to play for their countries despite the club's reluctance to let them go.

"At the same time, we need to understand that this can happen to any of our players, not only the South American ones -- our European players can suddenly be in the same situation, because it's a pandemic and no one is able to control it."

There are two more international breaks coming up this year in October and November.

Nuno added that Argentine defender Romero and midfielder Lo Celso plus Colombia central defender Sanchez would also miss the midweek Europa Conference League group match at Stade Rennes and would only be available for the Chelsea game next weekend.

"I don't know (if it is a long-term injury). Let's wait and see. The doctors will make the proper diagnostics."
