Popular American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is currently awaiting the release of her tenth studio album called 'Midnights'. Her first body of work since 2020's 'Evermore', 'Midnights', like a lot of Swift's music, is drawn from her real world experiences. It is described as a concept album that sprang up from "13 sleepless nights" of her life. In Swift's words it is a "journey through terrors and sweet dreams." To promote the album, Swift has been revealing things that keep her awake at night. Until now, the pop singer has revealed that 'self-loathing' and 'fantasising about revenge' are two of those five things.

In 'Midnights', Swift collaborates with Jack Antonoff and Lana Del Ray. The album, consisting of 13 tracks, runs for a little more than 44 minutes. Swift and Antonoff co-wrote 11 of the 13 tracks, two Swift wrote alone, and one she co-wrote with boyfriend and English actor Joseph Matthew Alwyn (credit on the album as William Bowery).&nbsp;

Del Ray appears in a track called 'Snow on the Beach'.

In another Swift news, she may be eligible for an Oscar nomination thanks to a 15-minute short film that she wrote and director. Titled All Too Well: The Short Film', the film was named after her 2012 song 'All Too Well'.

Starring Sadie Sink of 'Stranger Things' and Dylan O'Brien. The film is eligible for an Academy Award in the best live-action short category.&nbsp;

Taylor Swift confirms collab with Lana Del Rey, unveils 13-song 'Midnights' tracklist

If reports are anything to go by, Swifties won't be seeing Taylor Swift headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show next year as she is currently busy re-recording her first six albums and is also gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated tenth studio album, 'Midnights'. According to reports, it’s not that she doesn’t want to be a part of the show but it’s a matter of timing.

TMZ and People have learned from their sources that the singer was approached months ago by SB honchos, however, Taylor made it very clear that she didn't want to perform until she finished re-recording all of her first 6 albums.

For those unaware, Scooter Braun was part of a group that acquired the rights to her first 6 albums in 2019. And since, Braun has sold the master recordings, Swift has vowed to rerecord them to regain its ownership. She has already rerecorded and released 'Red' and 'Fearless'.

The singer is currently working on the remaining 4 albums, i.e. 'Taylor Swift', 'Speak Now', '1989', and 'Reputation' and they are expected to come out by next year.

Taylor Swift won't headline Super Bowl LVII halftime due to this reason

Singer-Songwriter Taylor Swift recently revealed the thought process which goes behind the lyrics formation of her `iconic` songs. The 'Bad Blood' singer accepted the Nashville Songwriter Awards` songwriter-artist of the decade honour on Tuesday at the Ryman Auditorium.

"I've never talked about this publicly before," Swift told the audience, Billboard reported.

"It's dorky," she said. "But I also have, in my mind, secretly, established genre categories for lyrics I write. Three of them, to be exact: They are affectionately titled Quill Lyrics, Fountain Pen Lyrics and Glitter Gel Pen Lyrics.... I came up with these categories based on what writing tool I imagine having in my hand when I scribbled it down - figuratively. I don`t actually have a quill. Anymore. I broke it once when I was mad," Billboard reported.

A glitter gel pen is used for lyrics that "are the drunk girl at the party who tells you that you look like an Angel in the bathroom." Swift's hit song 'Shake It Off' was used as an example for this category.

The fountain pen is used when the pop star is "trying to paint a vivid picture of a situation, down to the chipped paint on the door frame and the incense dust on the vinyl shelf" and 'All Too Well' was given as the example.

Swift continued her speech by elaborating on the reasons she came up with the lyric classifications."Why did I make these categories, you ask? Because I love doing this thing we are fortunate enough to call a job," she said. "Writing songs is my life`s work and my hobby and my never-ending thrill. I am moved beyond words that you, my peers, decided to honor me in this way for work I`d still be doing if I had never been recognized for it." Taylor Swift has been slapped with a copyright lawsuit by an author who claims the pop singer plagiarised her work.

According to Page Six, Swift is being sued for more than USD 1 million by Teresa La Dart, who claims that the singer plagiarised her 2010 self-published book of poetry, 'Lover,'&nbsp;for the companion booklet for the 2019 'Lover'&nbsp;album.

On August 23, La Dart filed a complaint in a federal court in Tennessee accusing Taylor of plagiarising her book of `poems, tales, and images.`

Page Six further reports that the complaint stated that each work is a "recollection of former years immortalized in a combination of literary and graphical components," in addition to sharing the same title.

La Dart also asserted that Taylor's colour scheme and graphic style are too similar to be a coincidence.

Taylor is currently involved in another copyright dispute with her popular song `Shake It Off.`

Page Six reports that Swift allegedly borrowed lyrics from the 2001 song `Playas Gon` Play,` performed by the girl group `3LW`, according to songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler.

The 2017 lawsuit was initially dismissed but has since been reopened on appeal. Taylor, however, vehemently denied stealing any lyrics in a sworn deposition.

Taylor Swift hit with USD 1 million copyright lawsuit

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift`s acting career is about to take off with David O. Russell`s "Amsterdam," in which she plays a grieving woman in a key supporting role.

The drama, starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington, is set to be Swift`s most high-profile film yet. However, it turns out that she could have had "The Twilight Saga" on her resume had her agent`s wishes not been denied by "New Moon" director Chris Weitz.

According to Variety, Swift`s agent said that Swift wanted any kind of role in "New Moon," even just "someone at the cafeteria, or the diner or whatever. She just wants to be in this movie.""Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, `Taylor would like to be in this movie - not because of you, but she`s a Twi-hard," Weitz recently revealed "The Twilight Effect" podcast with Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe.

Weitz turned down the agent`s request because he thought Swift was too famous to be in "New Moon." Swift would obtrusively draw attention away from the other actors and the plot if she suddenly appeared on the screen.

"The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything," Weitz said. "I kick myself for it too, because - I was like, wow, I could`ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift. She must have been like, `Who is this jerk?` But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film."

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner`s "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" amassed $709 million at the global box office in 2009. The film`s $72 million domestic opening day take at the box office at the time was the biggest ever for a domestic release. It held the record for almost two years, but "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" later broke it with $91 million in 2011.

Popstar Taylor Swift has filed a declaration in court&nbsp;in response to the allegations made by two songwriters that claimed that her 2014 hit track was copied from&nbsp;a single from 3LW that peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.

According to the paperwork filed by the singer in the court, Swift stated that she has never heard the song she is being accused of copying. And, she also reiterated that she herself wrote the lyrics of the song in question.

"The lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ were written entirely by me,"&nbsp;Swift claimed in her declaration. "Until learning of plaintiff’s claim in 2017, I had never heard of the song ‘Play’s Gon’ Play’ and had never heard of that song or group 3LW."

According to a report by Billboard, Swift and her attorney also made the case that the similar phrasing in the two songs is a result of the terminology being a part of everyday language. And, they also stated that the phrases were a part of popular vernacular before Sean Hall and Nathan Butler wrote 'Playas Gon’ Play'.

"I recall hearing phrases about players play and haters hate stated together by other children while attending school in Wyomissing Hills, and in high school in Hendersonville," Taylor wrote.

This plagiarism lawsuit has been making its way through the courts, again and again, for the last five years. It was first set aside by a judge in 2018. The following year, the suit was reinstated by an appeals court.

Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian among worst celeb private jet polluters, says study

American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift`s team has responded after a new study showed the singer topping a list of celebrities whose private jets have produced the highest amount of carbon dioxide so far in 2022.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Friday, UK-based sustainability marketing firm Yard shared a report revealing that the pop superstar`s jet flew 170 times between January 1 and July 19, totalling almost 16 days in the air.

The aircraft`s total flight emissions were 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon, which is 1,184.8 times more than the average person`s total annual emissions, the study stated."

Taylor`s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect," a spokesperson for Swift told The Hollywood Reporter.

For the study, Yard used data from the Twitter account @CelebJets, which tracks private jet travels from celebrities. The data was compiled from the beginning of 2022 and included the number of flights taken by each star, average flight times, miles and total CO2 emissions.

Other musicians on the top 10 list included Jay-Z, Blake Shelton and Travis Scott, among others. Earlier this month, Drake took some heat after @CelebJets reported that he flew on a private jet for only 14 minutes from Hamilton, Ontario, to Toronto. The rapper cleared up the controversy by commenting on the Instagram page of @RealTorontoNewz, which picked up the story.

"This is just them moving planes to whatever airport they are being stored at for anyone who was interested in the logistics," Drake wrote in the comments section, adding, "Nobody takes that flight."

As per The Hollywood Reporter, recently, Kylie Jenner was also criticized on social media for her own private flight from Camarillo, California, to Van Nuys in California.

"This is just them moving planes to whatever airport they are being stored at for anyone who was interested in the logistics," Drake wrote in the comments section, adding, "Nobody takes that flight." As per The Hollywood Reporter, recently, Kylie Jenner was also criticized on social media for her own private flight from Camarillo, California, to Van Nuys in California. Taylor Swift's team issues clarification for topping list of celebs with highest carbon emissions

Taylor Swift and her long-term boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, were recently captured together on a rare public date by the paparazzi. The couple were seen enjoying a lovely summer morning with iced coffee and a walk through the park in London and were later seen seated at an outdoor table. The couple has been dating for over five years now, and rumours suggest they are engaged.&nbsp;

According to a source who is close to Joe, the couple got secretly engaged at the end of June. The source said, "Taylor and Joe are incredibly happy and very, very in love. They’ve actually been engaged for a few months but have only told their inner-inner circle—basically immediate family and trusted, very old friends. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too.

Taylor has a beautiful ring, but she only wears it when she’s at home—i.e., behind closed doors. Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding, and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement. They want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible.

This is just for them. And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely won’t be any Vogue, Rolling Stone, or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant—like them."

Although Taylor did not address the rumours, Joe said, "If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins."&nbsp;&nbsp;He added, "I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say."

It is speculated that Taylor did not wear her ring during their public date in London on purpose so that she could make the announcement the way she wanted. It seems like her fans have to wait&nbsp;a bit longer for her to break the news publicly-that is, even if she wants to.

Multimillionaire Taylor Swift drives around London in budget car to avoid getting mobbed by fans

American singer Taylor Swift made a rare public appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival to screen her short film ‘All Too Well’ and discussed the reason behind bringing the 10-minute song to the big screen with filmmaker Mike Mills (‘C’mon C’mon,’ ‘20th Century Women’).&nbsp;

According to Variety, Taylor informed the audience at the Beacon Theatre on Manhattan's Upper West Side, "This is not a music video, we approached everything differently."

The notoriously private pop artist also revealed easter eggs in the short film, detailed her hopes to direct a feature, and surprised fans with a surprise performance of ‘All Too Well’ during a wide-ranging interview.&nbsp;

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who were seated near the stage, were among the many in the audience who excitedly sang along, cheered, and snapped videos of Swift during the lengthy song. Mills noted that the 90-minute chat felt like a concert due to the enthusiastic crowd’s continual cheering long before Swift took out her red guitar.&nbsp;

As he ascended the stage, he said, "Sorry, I’m not Taylor Swift." By the way, how did Mills, who is best known for indies such as 'C’mon, C’mon,'&nbsp;end up moderating a Swift panel? She’s a die-hard admirer of his 2019 short film "I Am Easy to Find," as it turns out, and texted him "out of the blue."&nbsp;

Since she was a youngster, Swift, 32, has been writing and singing her own music. She grew interested in stepping behind the camera after spending a lot of time on the sets of music videos. "I was always curious," she said.&nbsp;

"I started to venture into the edit [for music videos] and making changes and meddling... it started with meddling." Swift claimed she felt out of her depth at times while writing and directing 'All Too Well: The Short Film.'

"I had this imposter syndrome in my head saying, ‘No, you don't do that. Other people do that who went to school to do that. ' Mills interjected: "I didn't go to school to do that." An assured Swift continued, "Oh! It's fantastic to know that. That makes me feel better. Don’t you feel like it's an amazing exercise in trusting gut instinct? There are so many decisions you have to make. Saying ‘I don’t know’ really isn't an option most of the time."&nbsp;

Mills gently disagreed, assuring Swift that directors do not have to be correct all of the time.

Swift suggested, "Maybe that's just being a female director," to which Mills replied, "Word." Swift has been bitten by the filmmaking bug and would "love to" continue working in the industry."&nbsp;

"It would be so fantastic to write and direct something... a feature," she said.&nbsp;

"I don’t see it being bigger, in terms of scale. I loved making a film that was so intimate." She called being on set "such a fulfilling experience," adding, "I’m really secret agent-y about people not finding out what we’re making. Everything was [discussed using] code words. I’m so weird."

To this day, Swift has never detailed the origins of 'All Too Well.'&nbsp;But she told the audience, "I wanted to make a film about an effervescent, curious young woman who ends up completely out of her depth."&nbsp;

She elaborated, "You know when you`re walking into the ocean? "It's so fun, the idea of going out so far your feet don't touch the ground, but you can get swept away", as reported by Variety.

The short film stars Sadie Sink of 'Stranger Things'&nbsp;and Dylan O’Brien of 'Teen Wolf,'&nbsp;who made a surprise cameo at Saturday's presentation.&nbsp;

Sink portrays a younger Swift, while O’Brien’s role is said to be inspired by Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal is 9 years older than Swift in real life. Swift, of course, stayed tight-lipped about that annoying detail, but O’Brien offered some insight on his first meeting with Swift." I’ll never forget -- you said, "We need this guy to be likeable even though he's going to execute some really unlikable things,`" O'Brien recalled."

Swift offered, "I wanted it to feel like them falling together was inevitable and them falling apart was just as inevitable. I wanted it to feel like there were forces at play and they couldn't stop from colliding or being dismantled."

Swift also talked about the underlying meaning of Sink’s character, who is a writer like Swift. Swift exclaimed, "It's one of the narrative tricks I loved sprinkling across the short film."&nbsp;

In the posts, many called for more than prayers and thoughts and asked the U.S. government to take strict actions.&nbsp;

At least 19 students and 2 adults died in the mass shooting and several got injured.&nbsp;

Priyanka Chopra, Taylor Swift and more react to heartbreaking Texas school mass shooting

Meet Dr&nbsp;Taylor Swift! Yes, you read that right. On Wednesday, American singer Taylor Swift received her honorary doctorate of fine arts from New York University.&nbsp;

The elated singer delivered her speech to a packed audience at the Yankee Stadium, where the degrees to students were handed out by the University.&nbsp;

The pop star was selected as the speaker for NYU's class of 2022 for her barrier-breaking accomplishments in music, her fearless challenge of industry stereotypes and her philanthropy and activism.

The pop star donned a purple doctoral gown and cap while addressing a buzzing crowd of almost 3,000 New York University students who had been waiting for&nbsp;the pop star's appearance since her announcement earlier in March.
"Last time I was in a stadium this size, I was dancing in heels and wearing a glittery leotard. This outfit is much more comfortable," said Swift as she began her speech.&nbsp;

Poking fun at herself, she jokingly says, "I'd like to thank NYU for making me technically, on paper at least, a doctor. Not the type of doctor you would want around in the case of an emergency unless your specific emergency was that you desperately needed to hear a song with a catchy hook and an intensely cathartic bridge section. Or if your emergency was that you needed a person who can name over 50 breeds of cats in one minute."

Swift importantly shared her life wisdom with the graduates. Having no real college experience, she went on to recall finishing high school "on the floors of airport terminals" as she went on radio tours and dreaming about a fairytale-like collegiate rendezvous, which inspired her 'Love Story' music video.

Swift ended her address by telling the graduates that making mistakes is inevitable. "When hard things happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it, we will grow more resilient because of it," the pop star concluded.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are reportedly engaged

For years, Taylor Swift fans have speculated whether her all-time hit 'All Too Well' was about Jake Gyllenhaal.&nbsp;
Nearly a decade after the song was released, Gyllenhaal&nbsp;has finally opened up about the song. Most fans speculated that the hit cast blame on the actor for causing heartbreak for Swift after dating her for three months.&nbsp;

While speaking to Esquire, Gyllenhaal&nbsp;recently was asked if he too believed that his and the singer's break up inspired the song or not. Swift, on her part, has never confirmed or denied that the actor had inspired the song.&nbsp;"It has nothing to do with me. It’s about her relationship with her fans," he told the outlet.

He added, "It is her expression. Artists tap into personal experiences for inspiration, and I don’t begrudge anyone that."

The actor also seemed unfazed at the online criticism that came his way from Swift's fans despite the overwhelming attention it garnered.&nbsp;

It even led Dionne Warwick to go viral for her comments on Twitter, in which she said she'd "pay the cost of postage" for him to return Swift's famous red scarf.

Speaking on cyberbullying in reference to all the hate comments he received, Gyllenhaal&nbsp;said, "At some point, I think it’s important when supporters get unruly that we feel a responsibility to have them be civil and not allow for cyberbullying in one’s name."&nbsp;

"That begs for a deeper philosophical question. Not about any individual, per se, but a conversation that allows us to examine how we can — or should, even — take responsibility for what we put into the world, our contributions into the world. How do we provoke a conversation? We see that in politics. There’s anger and divisiveness, and it’s literally life-threatening in the extreme," he continued.

Gyllenhaal said he hasn't received any threats and wasn't implying that.

"My question is: Is this our future? Is anger and divisiveness our future? Or can we be empowered and empower others while simultaneously putting empathy and civility into the dominant conversation? That’s the discussion we should be having."

Speaking on cyberbullying in reference to all the hate comments he received, Gyllenhaal said, "At some point, I think it’s important when supporters get unruly that we feel a responsibility to have them be civil and not allow for cyberbullying in one’s name." "That begs for a deeper philosophical question.

Taylor Swift did&nbsp;not take this lying down as Damon Albarn, lead singer of ‘Blur’, claimed recently&nbsp;that she doesn’t write her own songs and that he prefers Billie Eilish over her.&nbsp;

In an interview, Damon said he prefers Billie Eilish as she’s a ‘really interesting songwriter” and "I'm more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift. It's just darker - less endlessly upbeat. Way more minor and odd. I think she's exceptional."

Taylor Swift plagiarism row: Singer files motion to dismiss copyright lawsuit over hit song 'Shake It Off'

Pop superstar Taylor Swift must face a lawsuit from songwriters who claim the Grammy-winning singer copied their lyrics in her 2014 hit single 'Shake It Off,'&nbsp;a California judge has ruled.

In a decision issued on Thursday, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald rejected Swift's bid to throw out a suit that said she took wording from the 2014 song 'Playas Gon'&nbsp;Play'&nbsp;by R&amp;B girl group 3LW.

Fitzgerald said there were "some noticeable differences" between the songs but also "enough objective similarities" that the case should go to a jury trial.

"Although Defendants have made a strong closing argument for a jury, they have not shown that there are no genuine issues of triable fact," the judge wrote.

A spokeswoman for Swift had no comment on Friday. In 2017, her representatives had called the songwriters` claim of copyright infringement "ridiculous" and "nothing more than a money grab."

In 'Shake It Off,'&nbsp;Swift sings: "the players gonna play, play, play, play, play, and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate."

'Playas Gon'&nbsp;Play,'&nbsp;written by Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, included the phrases "players, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate."
Hall and Butler said the combination of playas or players with hatas or haters was unique to its use in their song. The pair are seeking unspecified damages.

Their case had been thrown out in 2018 but the pair appealed and the suit was revived.

Can't shake this: Taylor Swift to face copyright lawsuit

If Olivia Rodrigo beat Taylor Swift at the Grammys this year, the latter won’t be going to the stage anymore. She could have gone earlier as Taylor had been credited for Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ as she had been listed as a nominee for the album due to an interpolation on the album. However, the Recording Academy has updated its list of nominees and excluded all names that were previously there.

Olivia’s ‘Sour’ is in competition with Taylor Swift’s ‘Evermore’ album.

After the Grammys changed the lists, Taylor is no longer a part of Olivia’s songwriting team. Also, other names including St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, and Jack Antonoff have been removed. The above names and Taylor Swift had co-written ‘Cruel Summer’, a song from ‘Lover’ album which Olivia Rodrigo and her team credited as an interpolation in the hit ‘Deja Vu’ even though it bore only the most modest similarity to the Swift album track.

While removing these names, the Recording Academy said that its policy is not to include the writers of interpolated songs in nominations, and that it did so in the case of Rodrigo only because of a submission that incorrectly named Swift, Clark and Antonoff as full co-writers.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/yearender-2021-britney-spears-to-armie-hammer-celebs-who-got-mired-in-controversies-this-year-395359" hreflang="en">Yearender 2021: Britney Spears to Armie Hammer: Celebs who got mired in controversies this year</a>

In a statement, Recording Academy said, “During the submission process, the Academy received credits from the label for the track ‘Deju Vu’. Last week, we received the correct credits from the label that recognize Annie Clark, Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift as songwriters of an interpolation on the track ‘Deja Vu.’ In keeping with current Grammy guidelines, as songwriters of an interpolated track, Clark, Antonoff and Swift are not nominees in the album of the year category for ‘Sour.'”
