“It’s going to be the very first association with another entity, where we’re working with the Eagle Fighting Championship, while this is a very important event because it’s in commemoration of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. We’re hosting it in his honour," said Fouad Darwish, General Manager of Palms Sports

UAE Warriors 15 will have 15 bouts with Nurmagomedov providing nine fighters from his team. The UAE Warriors 15 event, organised in partnership with Khabib Nurmagomedov, is set to take place on January 15 at the Jiu-jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi. The much-awaited event, featuring Nurmagomedov, will be open to fans who have already taken the COVID-19 vaccine. A joint venture with Nurmagomedov's Eagle Fighting Championship, the UAE Warriors 15 will commemorate Khabib's father and longtime coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who died in July 2019. Reportedly, UAE Warriors 15 is set to be the first major sporting event in Abu Dhabi to welcome spectators since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Palms Sports, working on UAE Warriors, said that they are working closely with the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) to ensure the safe staging of the event. "The joint EAGLE FC and UAE WARRIORS tournament, which will take place in Dubai on January 15, will be open to the public. The fighting promotion administration has reached a mutual agreement on spectators' admission upon proof of a special document indicating the vaccination against COVID-19, received in Dubai. We remind you that the tournament will be held at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena on January 15. If you received the COVID-19 vaccination now, you are clear to watch EFC & UAE tournament!" How long have we got?” he told the BBC. “The start, obviously, not only the goal but the start in general. Congratulations to Southampton, they deserved it.” “At the beginning, how we played, where we lost the balls – it’s not rocket science. We should have done much better. We played into their hands with the start,” he said. “These are outstanding players, but they were not ready from the start.” Liverpool are now three matches without a win.

Frank Lampard knows the demands of being a Chelsea manager under Roman Abramovich more than most having played for nine different coaches during his playing career at Stamford Bridge.

Now Lampard is the man in the firing line after Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City capped a run of one win in six games that looks to have extinguished any hope of a Premier League title challenge.

Much more was expected of the Blues after a £220 million ($300 million) spending spree in the transfer market at a time when most of European football's major powers were scaling back due to the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

After bankrolling the purchases of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy, Abramovich will have expected more than Chelsea's position of eighth in the table nearly halfway through the season.

Patience has not been a virtue of the Russian's 18-year reign as Chelsea owner and even a club legend like Lampard, who is the club's all-time top goalscorer, is unlikely to be afforded much more time to turn the situation around.

Frank Lampard knows the demands of being a Chelsea manager under Roman Abramovich more than most having played for nine different coaches during his playing career at Stamford Bridge.

The Athletic reported on Sunday that Chelsea are already lining up suitable candidates should the 42-year-old be sacked. - Great expectations - Lampard does have some credit in the bank from his first season in charge, which took the club back into the Champions League despite a transfer ban and the sale of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. Chelsea collapse leaves Lampard testing Abramovich's patience

A classic century by Kane Williamson in a 215-run stand with Henry Nicholls hauled New Zealand into a strong position at 286 for three at stumps on day two of the second Test against Pakistan on Monday.

New Zealand, having recovered from 71 for three in Christchurch, ended the day trailing Pakistan's first innings 297 by just 11 runs with seven wickets in hand.

Williamson, newly installed as the world's number one Test batsman, was unbeaten on 112, his 24th century, with Nicholls on 89.

It is Williamson's third century in as many Tests in the past month, although fortune was on his side. Late in the day, he was dropped twice and survived a run out when the bail had only partially dislodged in the split second it took to get his bat across the crease.

Pakistan, without a win in 10 away Tests since 2018, would have felt their luck was changing when New Zealand slumped from 52 without loss to 71 for three when Ross Taylor departed in the fifth over after lunch.

It could have been four for 74 when Nicholls was given out early, caught behind, only for the dismissal to be reversed by the TV umpire who detected Shaheen Afridi's delivery was a no ball.

With New Zealand in trouble, Williamson was all patience as he took 70 deliveries to reach 20, but he then put the foot down.

The next 30 runs came off 35 balls to reach 50 and it took another 35 balls to race from 50 to 100.

When Nicholls reached his 11th half-century with a two to square leg, Pakistan were very aware of the consequences of Afridi's no ball when the left-hander was on three.

New Zealand started their innings on a positive note with openers Tom Latham and Tom Blundell in a 52-run stand.

The pitch, although drying, continued to offer the bounce and movement which New Zealand exploited on day one, but with Latham and Blundell taking guard well in front of the crease the Pakistan bowlers were forced to adjust their lines.

The breakthrough came when Faheem Ashraf had a ball jag back sharply and rap Blundell's pads.

In the following over, Afridi found the edge of Latham's bat with the ball flying to Shan Masood who spilled the catch at second slip only for his blushes to be spared by the quick reflexes of Haris Sohail who grasped the rebound from first slip.

It was a period when the Pakistan quicks, having found a good line and length, had New Zealand in a vice-like grip.

In five overs either side of lunch, New Zealand scored only five runs before Abbas found the edge of Taylor's bat and that time Masood made no mistake.

Masood later failed to pouch difficult chances from Williamson on 82 and 107, while Mohammad Rizwan dropped Nicholls on 86.

The Uruguayan Football Players Association (AFU) on Monday ripped into the English Football Association (FA) on their three-match ban on Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani following a social media post where the Uruguayan referred to his friend as 'negrito'. Cavani deleted the post after being told about the meaning in English language and later apologised for it.

After investigating the incident, Cavani was suspended for three matches by the FA. The 33-year-old said that he used the world as an expression of affection to a close friend. The FA had said that the remark was “improper and brought the game into disrepute” and fined Cavani 100,000 pounds. Cavani has been asked to complete “face-to-face education” as part of his punishment.

The Uruguayan Football Players Association launched a scathing attack on English FA as they deemed the sanction on Cavani as a "discriminatory act against the culture and way of life of the Uruguayan people". The AFU further asked the English FA to "immediately overturn the sanction imposed" on Cavani.

Full statement of the Uruguayan Football Players Association on Edinson Cavani:

"The undersigned members of the Uruguayan Football Players Association (AFU), composed of both the men and women professional and amateur sectors, including the different types, would like to state the following in response to the sanction imposed by the English Football Association on our colleague Edinson Cavani:

"Firstly, we must condemn the arbitrary conduct of the English Football Association. Far from condemning racism, the English Football Association has itself committed a discriminatory act against the culture and way of life of the Uruguayan people. The sanction shows the English Football Association's biased, dogmatic and ethnocentric vision that only allows a subjective interpretation to be made from its particular and excluding conclusion, however flawed it may be.

"Edinson Cavani has never committed any conduct that could be interpreted as racist. He merely used a common expression in Latin America to affectionately address a loved one or close friend. To sustain that the only way to obtain a valid interpretation in life is that which lies in the minds of the managers of the English Football Association is actually a true discriminatory act, which is completely reprehensible and against Uruguayan culture.

"We would therefore like to publicly defend Edison Cavani's impeccable character and of course our country's culture. We are all against any kind of discrimination; however, unfortunately, through its sanction, the English Football Association expresses absolute ignorance and disdain for a multicultural vision of the world, respectively of its plurality, by erroneously, unilaterally and rigidly imposing its anti-racist rules, the basis of which we support but are obviously not realistically applicable to the case in question here. It has not just punished one person, but also our whole culture, our way of life, which is truly a discriminatory and racist act.

"Lastly, we urge the English Football Association to review its decision-making processes related to these issues immediately so that it does not commit any similar injustice ever again. Its regulations should take into account the plurality of people's ways of life and cultures. The first rule to fight against racism is to respect such different ways of life and cultures.

"By virtue of the foregoing, we request the FA to immediately overturn the sanction imposed on Edinson Cavani and reinstate his good name and honour in the world that has been so unfairly tarnished by the reprehensible decision.

Leicester have the potential to disrupt the dominance of the 'Big Six' in the Premier League, says Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman's side lie third in the table after beating Newcastle 2-1 on Sunday.

Leicester -- who in 2016 became the only club from outside the 'Big Six' to win the league title since 1995 -- are a point behind leaders Liverpool, who visit Southampton later on Monday, and second-placed Manchester United.

Leicester have played a game more than several of their rivals in a wide-open title race, with just seven points separating Liverpool and United from West Ham in 10th.

By comparison, Liverpool held a 27-point advantage over the team in 10th place after 16 games last season, as did Manchester City at a similar stage in the 2017-18 campaign.

Rodgers says that while Leicester may be unable to compete financially with the biggest clubs, they can make their presence felt on the pitch.

"We want to be a team that, year on year, can get European football," said Rodgers.

"Our job is, can we disrupt the hierarchy? We might not financially - we don't have the finances to go and get that £70 million ($96 million), £80m, £90m player -- but we can in a football way."

Rodgers said his initial goal is to qualify for European football next term.

A loss of form at the end of last season cost Leicester a Champions League spot but they are into the knockout stage of the Europa League after topping their group.

"My ambition is to get into Europe again and for us to progress," said Rodgers.

"What's nice is our top players are getting their fitness back and that's exciting for us in the second part of the season."

England midfielder James Maddison is one of the players who have returned from injury and had an immediate impact, scoring at Newcastle.

Maddison and Belgian international Youri Tielemans's goal helped the Foxes to their seventh win away from home this campaign -- the most in the Premier League.

"We are playing with intensity and a bit of swagger. Newcastle felt the full force of a top-of-the-table Premier League team," said Maddison.

We might not financially - we don't have the finances to go and get that £70 million ($96 million), £80m, £90m player -- but we can in a football way." Rodgers said his initial goal is to qualify for European football next term. A loss of form at the end of last season cost Leicester a Champions League spot but they are into the knockout stage of the Europa League after topping their group. "My ambition is to get into Europe again and for us to progress," said Rodgers. "What's nice is our top players are getting their fitness back and that's exciting for us in the second part of the season." England midfielder James Maddison is one of the players who have returned from injury and had an immediate impact, scoring at Newcastle.

Leicester can upset Premier League established order, says Rodgers

Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has accepted the three-match suspension handed by the Football Association (FA) for using a racial term on social media platform as the Uruguayan said that while he did not agree with FA’s assessment of his comment, his heart was at peace.

Cavani used the word “negrito” on Instagram after Manchester United’s win against Southampton on November 29 before removing and apologising. The 33-year-old said it was intended as an expression of affection to a close friend.

The FA on Thursday said that the remark was “improper and brought the game into disrepute” and fined Cavani 100,000 pounds. Cavani has been asked to complete “face-to-face education” as part of his punishment.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday greeted his fans on the occasion of New Year as the Juventus megastar motivated people to bounce back in the year 2021 and make a difference while adding that everyone can still become better versions of themselves.

The Portuguese further wished that the year 2021 will be remembered for the best reasons as he took to social media platform Twitter to post a photograph with his family.
"2020 was not an easy year, there's no doubt about it. No one can be indifferent to the pain and suffering that COVID-19 brought upon the world. But now it's time to bounce back and show that, together, we can make a difference. Because no matter how hard is the fall, what really defines us is the way we get back on our feet and how fast we are ready to face new obstacles," Ronaldo said in a while sharing a picture with his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, and all four kids.

"So let's try to turn 2021 into a turning point, a new beginning, a fresh start. Because all us - and I do mean all of us - can still become better versions of ourselves. And if we do it all together, that might actually be the secret to turn things around for the better. Happy New Year! And may 2021 be a year to always remember for the best reasons!" he added on Facebook.
