Experts have warned that Asif's statement has the potential of further deepening the political divide in the country. If the government does go ahead with the decision, it could set the stage for a civil war.&nbsp;

The statement by Asif comes a day after PTI Vice Chairman&nbsp;Shah Mahmood Qureshi was rearrested by Punjab Police from outside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail and whisked away to an unknown location, minutes after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered his release.

The IHC had ordered the release of the PTI vice chairman after he submitted an undertaking in front of Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb that he would refrain from agitation and inciting party workers, according to local media reports. He had been arrested in cases related to riots and arsons in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Imran's close aide and former human rights minister&nbsp;Shireen Mazari resigned from the party after she was arrested by the police over the recent violence.

The police have filed 11 FIRs against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf's (PTI) senior member&nbsp; Fawad Chaudhry in the Lahore High Court (LHC), including one for alleged&nbsp;bathroom tap theft.

Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan's former information minister, was spotted sprinting back to the high court building in Islamabad on Tuesday. This occurred only seconds after a court granted his release in connection with an incitement to violence case in which he was arrested.

Videos that went viral on social media showed Chaudhry sprinting out of his car and approaching the courtroom. He was also observed hunching down and panting as a lawyer approached him for assistance.

In response to this, the Justice said, "You should have waited for the written order considering you are a practitioner (lawyer) yourself,” the judge said.

"We wanted peaceful protests," he remarked, criticising the destruction that followed Imran Khan's imprisonment.

Police have confirmed 10 deaths in the violent skirmishes, however Imran Khan's party claimed 40 of its workers were killed in firing by security forces.

On Monday, the senior military brass committed to bring the arsonists who assaulted the civil and military institutions to justice through prosecution under strict Pakistani laws such as the Pakistan Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.

Over 7,000 PTI workers have been detained across Pakistan, with 4,000 of them from Punjab state.

Imran Khan, a 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician, was ousted from office in April last year after losing a no-confidence vote in his leadership, which he said was part of a US-led conspiracy to destabilise him due to his independent foreign policy decisions on Russia, China, and Afghanistan.

The damage done

According to reports, after Imran Khan’s arrest, his supporters set fire to buildings, blocked highways and roads as well as damaged property belonging to the country’s military. This included Jinnah House, Radio Pakistan and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) along with damage to private business properties.

Since the beginning of the protests, last Tuesday, over 3,000 people were arrested across the Punjab province of Pakistan. According to the Punjab Inspector General Police, people torched and damaged over 80 police vehicles and nearly 14 state buildings in the province.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, police had arrested nearly 80 people who were reportedly involved in attacks on the General Headquarters in the garrison city. A report issued by Islamabad police said armed miscreants set the office of the DPO Industrial Area, and opened fire at Ramna Tarnol and Sangjani police stations during the three days of violence, reported Dawn.&nbsp;

According to Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, at least 23 buildings were damaged and 108 vehicles were gutted in the province, as of Sunday, reported ARY News. He also said that some 12 buses, motorbikes, six Wasa vehicles, eight rescue vehicles and a car in a showroom were burned down in Lahore, including the police vehicles.&nbsp;

Among those 23 buildings was the Corps Commander’s house in Lahore, said Naqvi, adding that hundreds of attackers were involved. According to reports, at least 40 workers of the PTI have been killed and over 100 injured during the clashes across Pakistan while more than 10 senior PTI leaders have also been arrested.&nbsp;

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani said that the officials have arrested 264 suspects, including 76 suspects involved in the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan army.&nbsp;

According to the party, the paramilitary forces were apparently vying for Imran Khan's “abduction” from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court. On 9 May, following Imran Khan's arrest, there were mass demonstrations across Pakistan which resulted in the killing of PTI workers while several others were injured.&nbsp;

PTI said that there was “false, absurd, and baseless propaganda” carried out against the party in connection with the violent clashes that broke out on the day Imran Khan was arrested.&nbsp;While claiming that the party has a clean track record for the last 27 years of its history, PTI said it adheres to the laws of the land and democratic principles.&nbsp;

It further added that the party sticks to peaceful processes and does not resort to violence in politics.&nbsp;

PTI claimed&nbsp;that even when on 3 November 2022 when an assassination attempt was carried out against Imran Khan while he was giving a speech in Wazirabad, Punjab, the party did not do anything that would have incited violence in the country.&nbsp;

The PTI demanded a thorough inquiry into any intentional attempts to cause mayhem during peaceful rallies by Imran Khan's supporters. It called on to investigate the shootings of people. The PTI urged for the creation of a high-level commission made up of Supreme Court justices to look into what happened on 9 May. It claimed that charges should be brought against those responsible for the killings of civilians during the protests that followed Imran Khan's detention.

In yet another arrest of Pakistan's PTI opposition leader, former human rights minister Shireen Mazari was detained by the Islamabad Police in the early hours of Friday.&nbsp;

Mazari's daughter and lawyer Imaan Hazir-Mazari posted a video on Twitter where armed men can be seen forcibly breaking into her home to take the former minister into custody.

The video was apparently of a CCTV footage that showed gunmen wearing plain clothes jumping the door to arrest the female politician.

In another video that surfaced on Twitter, Islamabad police can be seen removing the minister from her home.&nbsp;Mazari was present at the time of the raid alongside with her daughter.&nbsp;

However, Mazari put up a defiant face at the time of her arrest. At the time of her arrest when she was led to a police car, Mazari held up a victory sign and shouted "victory for democracy."&nbsp;

She also denounced "state terrorism" as unacceptable.

Former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, who has been sent to an eight-day custody of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB), informed a court during a hearing that he fears for his life and that&nbsp;the current Shehbaz Sharif government in the country was trying to take his life inside the jail.

Khan told the court that he was afraid of meeting the same fate as Maqsood Çhaprasi', a key witness in the money laundering case against Shehbaz Sharif, who died last year.&nbsp;

As per a death certificate issued by Emirati authorities, Maqsood ‘Chaprasi’ died of cardiac arrest in June 2022&nbsp;in the UAE. However, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed doubts about the nature of his death and called for an autonomous&nbsp;investigation into it.&nbsp;

As per Pakistani media reports, Imran Khan claimed in court that he was being heavily tortured and wasn't being&nbsp;allowed to use the washroom for 24 hours. He also said&nbsp;that the authorities will try to kill him because of his stand&nbsp;against the current regime, as reported by DNA.&nbsp;

Imran Khan said in court, “I have not been to the washroom in 24 hours.” He further added, “They give [you] an injection, and [you] slowly die."

As per AFP reports, Imran Khan’s lawyer Afzal Marwat said that the Khan&nbsp;was in “good spirits” but had complained of being struck&nbsp;on the back of the head and leg by paramilitary forces who arrested him earlier this week.

<h2>Al-Qadir case</h2>

Imran Khan is accused of a number of violations across Pakistan, including corruption while serving as Pakistan's prime minister.&nbsp;Khan has been arrested in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case, the Islamabad Police announced on Tuesday.

The matter is linked to the founding of&nbsp;Al-Qadir University. Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other PTI party leaders are alleged to have committed wrongdoing with regard to the Al-Qadir Trust, formed to back the university. The issue concerns an alleged agreement between his government and a real estate magnate that cost Pakistan's struggling economy $50 billion.

In order to establish the Al-Qadir University and provide "quality education" in the Sohawa Tehsil of Punjab's Jhelum area, Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and his close aides Zulfiqar Bukhari and Babar Awan established the Al-Qadir Project Trust, reported India Today.&nbsp;

Later, in 2019, Bushra Bibi signed a memorandum with the private real estate firm Bahria Town in order to accept donations from them. The trust later acquired land measuring 458 kanals, 4 marlas, and 58 square feet from Bahria Town as part of their agreement.

However, according to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Imran Khan worked out the division of the land and transferred 240 kanals of the donated land in the name of Farah Gogi, a close friend of Bushra Bibi.

According to Sanaullah, the value of this land had been underestimated and Khan obtained his part in the name of the institution. He further said that the previous PM sought to cover up the matter.&nbsp;

The scam was brought to light when the Pakistani media noted that the trust received 180 million Pakistani rupees even though the documents showed expenses of just 8.52 million Pakistani rupees. Additionally, they questioned why the institution was charging students if it was recognised as a trust.

Imran Khan&nbsp;and a few other ministers are said to have "adjusted" the $50 billion that the British National Crime Agency (NCA) gave to the government, according to a GeoNews report.

Additionally, it is alleged that the PTI leaders received illicit advantages in the form of more than 458 kanals of land in Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, for the construction of Al Qadir University.

Khan told the court that he was afraid of meeting the same fate as Maqsood Çhaprasi', a key witness in the money laundering case against Shehbaz Sharif, who died last year. As per a death certificate issued by Emirati authorities, Maqsood ‘Chaprasi’ died of cardiac arrest in June 2022 in the UAE. However, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed doubts about the nature of his death and called for an autonomous investigation into it. As per Pakistani media reports, Imran Khan claimed in court that he was being heavily tortured and wasn't being allowed to use the washroom for 24 hours. He also said that the authorities will try to kill him because of his stand against the current regime, as reported by DNA. Imran Khan said in court, “I have not been to the washroom in 24 hours.” He further added, “They give [you] an injection, and [you] slowly die." As per AFP reports, Imran Khan’s lawyer Afzal Marwat said that the Khan was in “good spirits” but had complained of being struck on the back of the head and leg by paramilitary forces who arrested him earlier this week. Al-Qadir case Imran Khan is accused of a number of violations across Pakistan, including corruption while serving as Pakistan's prime minister. Khan has been arrested in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case, the Islamabad Police announced on Tuesday. The matter is linked to the founding of Al-Qadir University. Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other PTI party leaders are alleged to have committed wrongdoing with regard to the Al-Qadir Trust, formed to back the university. The issue concerns an alleged agreement between his government and a real estate magnate that cost Pakistan's struggling economy $50 billion. In order to establish the Al-Qadir University and provide "quality education" in the Sohawa Tehsil of Punjab's Jhelum area, Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and his close aides Zulfiqar Bukhari and Babar Awan established the Al-Qadir Project Trust, reported India Today. Later, in 2019, Bushra Bibi signed a memorandum with the private real estate firm Bahria Town in order to accept donations from them. The trust later acquired land measuring 458 kanals, 4 marlas, and 58 square feet from Bahria Town as part of their agreement. However, according to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Imran Khan worked out the division of the land and transferred 240 kanals of the donated land in the name of Farah Gogi, a close friend of Bushra Bibi. According to Sanaullah, the value of this land had been underestimated and Khan obtained his part in the name of the institution. He further said that the previous PM sought to cover up the matter. The scam was brought to light when the Pakistani media noted that the trust received 180 million Pakistani rupees even though the documents showed expenses of just 8.52 million Pakistani rupees. Additionally, they questioned why the institution was charging students if it was recognised as a trust. Imran Khan and a few other ministers are said to have "adjusted" the $50 billion that the British National Crime Agency (NCA) gave to the government, according to a GeoNews report. Additionally, it is alleged that the PTI leaders received illicit advantages in the form of more than 458 kanals of land in Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, for the construction of Al Qadir University.
