<p>Apart from the charge of "criminal conspiracy" (Section 120-B), Khan and his associates face nine additional offences, including incitement to riot, abetting mutiny, and attempting to wage war against Pakistan. The police investigators and prosecutors have prepared a case file, which will be submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore.</p>

<p>The PTI also said that if the National Assembly is dissolved before the completion of its tenure, the Constitution clearly states that the poll body is bound to hold polls within 90 days. The poll organising authority, after violating the apex court's order on elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), is once again trying to violate the Constitution.</p>

<h2><strong>ECP announces schedule of delimitation</strong></h2>

<p>Earlier, the ECP had announced the schedule of delimitation&nbsp;to be carried out as per the new census approved by the CCI earlier this month. According to the schedule, the delimitation of the constituencies across the country will be notified in December.</p>

<p>The delimitation would take nearly four months. This means that general elections in Pakistan cannot be held within 90 days of the dissolution of the provincial and national assemblies.</p>

<p>The report also said that if PTI files a plea in the top court then it would be the second such petition filed regarding the CCI decision.</p>

<h2><strong>Pak appoints caretaker cabinet&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>On Thursday, the Pakistani establishment swore in a caretaker cabinet under interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. The cabinet has been tasked with running the country until fresh elections.</p>

<p>According to a report by the news agency Reuters, the cabinet's top job will be to lead Pakistan towards economic stabilisation. In the interim cabinet, former central bank chief Shamshad Akhtar was appointed as finance minister and Pakistan's former ambassador to the United States, Jalil Abbas Jilani, was named foreign minister.<br />

<p>According to Kugelman, PTI faces a formidable challenge following Imran Khan's removal from the political scene.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"PTI is in a tough spot. The entire party has been hollowed out, and with Khan out of the picture it's essentially anchorless for the time being," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Kugelman pointed&nbsp;out that PTI still enjoys advantages such as "public support and anti-incumbency sentiment". "If it's given enough space to operate in, it still has a chance of making electoral gains."</p>

<h2><strong>Hinging on military relations</strong></h2>

<p>The expert noted that the party without Imran Khan could make electoral gains "if its remaining leadership is able to improve ties with the military."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Its current leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has a good record of relations with the army. So unless PTI is banned, it has a chance to stay relevant. <p>Khan's absence, the expert said&nbsp;poses an "existential loss for the party." "Let's be clear, PTI revolves around Khan and Khan revolves around PTI. He is the party, and the party is him."</p>

<p>Kugelman suggested that PTI should be able to survive. "Shah Mehmood Qureshi is someone with experience as a politician and diplomat, and he gets along well with the military. So in theory, Qureshi can be a stabilizing force, or at least a bridge meant to hold down the fort until Khan returns--if he does return."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have seen two successive administrations embrace a hybrid regime... and I don't see that changing. A hybrid regime 3.0 could be coming soon."&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further pointed out that the ongoing tensions between the PML-N and PPP parties suggest that a clear ruling coalition might not emerge from the next election.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"One area to watch is the PDM parties: The PML-N and PPP are at odds on several issues, including the election date. This suggests they may not agree to serve in another ruling coalition together. The election likely will not result in a clear majority, and a weak coalition is a strong possibility."&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per reports, Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had said that putting a ban on the party was the only solution.</p>

<p>Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said that the move in this direction was being considered. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also said that his party will not defy any move to impose a ban on the PTI.</p>

<p>On being questioned about the impact of a possible ban on his electoral future by Nikkei Asia, Imran said, “If they remove the party then we will form a party with a new name and still win the elections.”</p>

<p>Imran was quoted as saying that “Even if they disqualify me and throw me in jail, the party will still win”.</p>

<p>The PTI chief further underlined to the outlet that his base of supporters “remains intact”, asserting that national politics had “fundamentally changed”.</p>

<p>When asked about the continued crackdown of his party, the former Pak PM said that the government was “still trying to break it through intimidation”.</p>

<p>He further said that the general elections would be “completely discredited” if his party candidates weren't allowed to participate.</p>

<p>Imran Khan sought a guarantee from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the general elections in the country would be held at its scheduled time, according to a report by Geo News, after a delegation of the IMF met Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.</p>

<p>Quoting sources, Geo News reported that Khan asked the IMF to ensure that the general elections, scheduled to take place in October, will be held on time. “What guarantee can you (IMF) give that the elections in the country will be held on time,” the PTI chairperson was quoted as saying in the huddle.</p>

<p>During the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, the two sides discussed the recent staff-level pact agreed upon between Pakistan and the global lender, with Khan extending his full support to it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an address via a video link, Imran said PTI has agreed to “endorse the standby arrangement” with the IMF until elections were held and a new government was formed.</p>

<p>“Obviously, when a new government comes, they will hold talks with the IMF according to their own programme,” he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from Imran, the IMF team met with other PTI members, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shaukat Tarin, Omar Ayub Khan, Sania Nishtar, Shibli Faraz, Taimur Jhagra and Muzammil Aslam.</p>

It would sell its 77 per cent shareholding in the local business, which suffered massive losses in 2022 due to devaluation in the Pakistani rupee, exchange rates, overdue receivables and the ongoing economic crisis in Pakistan, Reuters reported.</p>

<p>A spokesperson for Shell Pakistan said in a statement, “To support its intention to high-grade and simplify its portfolio, Shell Petroleum Company Ltd ... has initiated a sales process to sell its 77.42 per cent shareholding in Shell Pakistan Ltd.” That includes "all of SPL’s Downstream businesses and SPL’s 26 per cent ownership of Pak-Arab Pipeline Company Ltd (PAPCO)," the spokesperson added.</p>

Big multinational companies like Shell divestment, who have catered to Pakistan for more than 50 years will give a very bad signal and completely no confidence in Shehbaz Sharif Fascist regime.”</p>

A spokesperson for Shell Pakistan said in a statement, “To support its intention to high-grade and simplify its portfolio, Shell Petroleum Company Ltd ... has initiated a sales process to sell its 77.42 per cent shareholding in Shell Pakistan Ltd.” That includes "all of SPL’s Downstream businesses and SPL’s 26 per cent ownership of Pak-Arab Pipeline Company Ltd (PAPCO)," the spokesperson added. SPL to continue to list on Pakistan Stock Exchange SPL, which is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, clarified that the operations of the company will continue, and Shell’s exit will not have any impact on the company’s listing. "Shell has entered into a process and wants to be transparent," the spokesperson said. Shell’s move triggers political row in Pakistan After Shell's announcement to withdraw from Pakistan, Farrukh Habib, the former Minister of State for Information and president of PTI West Punjab, criticised the government led by Shehbaz Sharif, labelling it as a 'fascist regime'. Habib wrote in his tweet, “Multinationals are on way out from Pakistan, now Shell has decided to sell its shareholding from Pakistan. The reasons include a highly uncertain political environment, regulated markets, capital controls, import restrictions, policy inconsistency, and higher taxes. Big multinational companies like Shell divestment, who have catered to Pakistan for more than 50 years will give a very bad signal and completely no confidence in Shehbaz Sharif Fascist regime.” The news of Shell's departure also elicited disappointment from Pakistani internet users. <p>Qureshi, the former foreign minister of&nbsp; Pakistan, was among the top PTI leaders arrested after violent protests erupted following party chairperson Imran Khan's arrest on May 9. The former prime minister's supporters vandalised military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commander's house, Mianwali airbase, the ISI building in Faisalabad and also torched sensitive defence installations.</p>

<p>Qureshi was rearrested by Punjab Police from outside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail and was taken to an unknown location, minutes after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered his release on May 23.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Following his May 9 arrest, Qureshi pleaded with supporters to exercise their constitutional rights to protest but not “destroy public or private property” and remain peaceful.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Qureshi might takeover PTI or quit: Party defector</strong></h2>

<p>Last week, PTI defector Mahmood Moulvi claimed that Shah Mahmood Qureshi might quit PTI, according to reports. This comes as defected PTI leaders including former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, met with Qureshi in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail.</p>
