'After being badly beaten...': Pakistan appealed to whole world post India's Operation Sindoor, PM Modi says

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday evening, and in his impassioned speech said that India had demolished the “global terrorism universities of Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan” during Operation Sindoor.
“Bahawalpur and Muridke were the epicentres of global terror; the London tube bombing, 9/11 attacks, and Mumbai attacks, were all linked to these places. So India destroyed these terrorists’ dens,” Modi added.
He said more than 100 dreaded terrorists were slaughtered in Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “When our missiles and drones destroyed terror sites in Pakistan, not only their buildings but their spirit was also demolished,” Modi said in his address on India’s precision strikes early on May 7 in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 unarmed civilians on April 22.

Calling India’s action a “huge setback for Pakistan,” PM Modi added that the strikes targeted the infrastructure of cross-border terrorism. He said that India paused military action only after Pakistan pleaded for it and gave assurances of ceasing further attacks.
“...We have just paused our attacks on the terrorist and military sites of Pakistan...” “Pakistan ki tayyari seema par vaar ki thi lekin Bharat ne Pakistan ke seene par vaar kar diya (Pakistan was expecting attack on the border and was preparing for it but India attacked Pakistan on its chest),” said Modi.

Pakistan slumped into gloom after our attack on terror camps but they dared to attack us rather than helping fight terror,” he said. “More than 100 dreaded terrorists were slaughtered in the Indian attack. Breaking: PM Modi's first nationwide address after 'Operation Sindoor'

As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, the whole nation has united to back the retaliatory strikes against Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. From Parliament to the streets, everyone came together to back the Centre's actions against Pakistan for sponsoring terrorist attacks in India.
The key opposition party, Congress, has shown full support and expressed solidarity towards the Indian government and armed forces during its retaliatory attacks against Pakistan. This support was not seen during the 2016 surgical strikes and 2019 Balakot airstrikes.
Moreover, hundreds of youths gathered together in Chandigarh after authorities called for civil defence volunteers, chanting, "Ready to give my life for India."

A break down

Now first, let's break down how the opposition expressed solidarity this time, but not during the 2016 and 2019 air strikes.
After the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22, the opposition stressed that it was time "for demonstrating our collective will as a nation to teach Pakistan a lesson and curb terrorism decisively”.
Later on Wednesday, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) declared “full support” to the armed forces, saying it was “time to be united”.
They also decided to halt all planned party programmes, and said, "standing in complete solidarity with our armed forces during this critical hour."
Not just that, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also praised the Indian Armed Forces and lauded their courage and determination.
“We are proud of our armed forces, which gave a befitting reply by taking bold and decisive action against terror bases in Pakistan and PoK. We salute the courage, determination, and patriotism of our brave soldiers,” Kharge said.

2019 Balakot airstrikes

Now cut to 2019 Balakot airstrikes, a day after the strikes, 21 Opposition parties in a joint statement said that they were anguished” over the “blatant politicisation” of the sacrifices of armed forces (40 security personnel were killed in the terror attack) by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Moreover, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh also demanded Modi government to give "evidence" of the damage it claimed to have caused to Pakistan during its air strikes in Balakot.

2016 URI strike

Now going back even further, during the 2016 URI strike, Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi of "playing politics over the blood of jawans”.
However, after he got backlashed for his statement, he posted on X (then Twitter), "I fully support surgical strikes and I have said so unequivocally. But I will not support using the Indian Army in political posters and propaganda all across the country.”
Not just Modi government, but Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also condemned Gandhi's statement, as the AAP convenor said, "I strongly condemn what Rahul Gandhi said about our jawans."
Later, Amit Shah said, “Some parties tried to question the surgical strikes, some even raised doubts. I condemn all those who have insulted our Indian Armed Forces.”

Youth gather on Chandigarh streets for civil defence volunteering

Amid soaring tensions between India and Pakistan, the administration of Chandigarh invited youth citizens, above 18 years, to become 'civil defence volunteers' to assist during emergency preparedness.
Following this, hundreds of youths gathered to show solidarity with Indian armed forces and fight against Pakistan terror.
One of the locals said that they wanted to do something for the Indian Army as they were doing so much for us.
Speaking to ANI, another resident, Karan Chopra, said, "I am ready to give my life for India. We have filed the form; we are ready to do whatever is expected from us..."
As India and Pakistan battle in escalating tensions, the whole nation has come united with the Indian government as Indian Armed Forces retaliate against Pakistan's attacks and foil its attacks across several regions in India.

PM Modi announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for MP road accident victim families

Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, has called for countries like Russia, China, and even Western nations to take part in an independent investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Asif questioned India's version of events and pushed for an impartial probe.
"I think Russia or China or even Western countries can play a very, very positive role in this crisis and they can even set up an investigation team that should be assigned this job to investigate whether India or Modi is lying or he is telling the truth. Let an international team find out," he told the agency.

Asif stressed that Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, also supported the idea of an international inquiry. He argued that real evidence was needed before any accusations could be made against Pakistan regarding the attack.
"Let's find out who is the culprit and the perpetrator of this incident in India, in Kashmir, talk or empty statements have no effect. There must be some evidence that Pakistan is involved or that these people were supported by Pakistan. These are just statements, empty statements and nothing more," Asif added.

Responsibility claim heightens tensions

The terror attack, which claimed several lives, was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), who later denied any involvement in the attack. The group is widely believed to be linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based militant organisation. The incident has led to fresh tensions between India and Pakistan, with New Delhi pointing fingers at Islamabad for harbouring terror groups.

In the 121st Episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "This attack in Pahalgam reflects the frustration of those who patronise terrorism.... A terror attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam claimed the life of at least 27 people including two foreigners and left many others injured on Tuesday. The attack has been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
A victim, Manjunath Rao, was visiting the Baisaran meadow, often called ‘mini Switzerland’, with his wife and young son when the shooting happened.
His wife, Pallavi, described the moment. “Three of us – me, my husband and our son – had gone to Kashmir. It happened around 1.30 pm, I think. We were at Pahalgam. He died on the spot, in front of my eyes,” she told India Today. “It still feels like a bad dream,” she added.
