<p>SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins took a dig at his Australian teammate Marnus Labuschagne after SRH posted the highest team total of 287/3 in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. SRH, who had battered Mumbai Indians (MI) for 277/3 a few days ago, improved their own record by 10 runs on April 15 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.</p>

<p>After the match, Cummins posted a photo of himself along with Travis Head, who scored a belligerent 102 off 41 balls, on the social media platform Instagram. Cummins wrote in the caption: 'This guy (in reference to Head)' and mentioned the runs scored by SRH to which Labuschagne responded with 'wow.'</p>

IPL 2024: SRH captain Pat Cummins in awe of Nitish Reddy after match-winning performance against PBKS

<p>Match 18 of the IPL 2024 edition saw the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) thrash Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets in pursuit of 166 at the&nbsp;Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Friday (April 5). During the game, captain Cummins made heads turn when he withdrew an appeal, i.e. of obstructing the field, against CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja during the first half.</p>

<p>In the penultimate over of CSK's innings, bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jadeja was struggling to get the big hits. On the fourth ball, Bhuvi bowled a yorker and&nbsp;Jadeja&nbsp;somewhat dug it out. As he came out of the crease, Bhuvi sensed it as an opportunity to dismiss him.&nbsp;Jadeja, however, came in the line of the throw.</p>

<p>This raised eyebrows as SRH wicketkeeper&nbsp;Heinrich Klaasen realised it was a chance to dismiss Jadeja. The umpires even referred it upstairs to check if it was deliberate from Jaddu, however,&nbsp;skipper Cummins withdrew&nbsp;the&nbsp;appeal.</p>

<p>Soon after the incident, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif questioned Cummins. He asked if it was a tactical move to withdraw the appeal with Jadeja not timing it well, and also delay MS Dhoni's arrival at the crease. He even enquired if the Australian&nbsp;would have done the same if it was against Virat Kohli at the T20 World Cup?</p>

<p>“Two questions to Pat Cummins on withdrawing the obstructing the field appeal against Jadeja. Was it a tactical call to let a struggling Jadeja be the crease and keep Dhoni indoors? Would he have done the same if it was Virat Kohli at World T20?” Kaif wrote on X, formerly Twitter.</p>

<p>Talking about the incident involving Jadeja, it didn't seem that he&nbsp;was trying to get in the line of the throw, rather just looking to get out of the way. Hence, this may have prompted Cummins to withdraw the appeal. If it was also tactical, it kept Jadeja in the middle till the end of the CSK innings where he managed a 23-ball 31* but didn't hit any six in the last five overs. He faced 17&nbsp;of the final 30 balls and managed just three fours.</p>

<p>"I will say this: hopefully, I don't have to face Starc because that means our batters have done quite well. It's funny... it's one of the beauties of the IPL; I have been playing with Starcy for 15 years, [and] I can't remember another game where I have played against him. Also, it's going to be weird looking across and seeing him in the other dugout," Cummins said in the pre-match press conference.</p>

<p>Australia captain Pat Cummins hailed several match winners in the Test squad who helped the touring side win the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch by three wickets. Reeling at 34 for four late on day three and 80 for five at one stage early on day four, Australia clawed their way back into&nbsp;the game, taking the series 2-0.</p>

<p>After losing Travis Head early on day four, the under-fire pair of Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey, whose position in the Test team was under severe scrutiny for his series of low scores, stitched a brilliant 140-run stand in 29 overs to put Australia in the winning position.</p>
