Djokovic defeated homeboy Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to move ahead in year's first grand slam. The Serb was made to work for this victory, especially in the third set which went on for nearly 75 minutes as it ended up in the tiebreaker.

"I haven't been playing my best," Djokovic said after the game. "I'm still trying to find form. But, particularly in the early rounds, you face players who have nothing to lose really."&nbsp;

India great Virat Kohli recently revealed that he and tennis legend Novak Djokovic have been chatting on Instagram for some time, although they haven't met in person yet. Considered to be two all-time bests in their respective sports, Kohli and Djokovic follow each other on social media platform Instagram. Virat disclosed what happened when he once decided to text Novak.

Speaking on the BCCI.tv, Virat revealed when he clicked on the Messages Icon on Instagram to text Novak, he noticed that the Serbian star had already texted, something that he hadn’t checked earlier.

Virat said Novak had even put an Instagram story, congratulating the India batter for completing his 50th ODI ton during the home World Cup last year.&nbsp;

Virat added that they both admire each other's work and are proud of what they have achieved and that he follows Novak’s fitness mantra, which helped Kohli stay head and shoulders ahead of everyone in cricket.

But Djokovic was clinical in the third set and a single break in the third game was enough to take him through. Djokovic has now won 16 successive matches since losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. He has won all eight of his previous Paris Masters semi-finals.

Tsitsipas, who also reached the last four a year ago when he lost to Djokovic, has progressed to the same stage without dropping a set. "It's working well. I feel like I can mix up play," said Tsitsipas.&nbsp;

Tsitsipas has already qualified for the end-of-season ATP Finals as one of the year's top eight players but defeat for Hurkacz against Dimitrov ruled the Pole out of contention. The last two places for the event in Turin later this month will be taken by Alexander Zverev and Rune.
