The National Investigation Agency (NIA) successfully apprehended a crucial figure linked to the murder of RSS leader R Rudresh in Bengaluru back in 2016. The man has been identified as Mohammed Ghouse Nayazi, a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI), who was a key&nbsp;conspirator&nbsp;and had been evading authorities since the incident.

Nayazi was taken into custody by an NIA team at Mumbai International Airport upon his return from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, based on credible intelligence.

The investigation uncovered that Rudresh's murder was orchestrated as part of a larger scheme led by Nayazi along with an accomplice named Asim Sheriff.

"Rudresh, a prominent RSS leader of Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, was hacked to death by four members of the now banned PFI, on 16th October 2016. NIA investigations into the case (RC-04/2016/NIA/ HYD) had revealed that the murder was part of a larger conspiracy hatched by Ghouse, President of SDPI Hebbal Assembly Constituency, and one Asim Sheriff," the NIA statement read.&nbsp;

They persuaded four individuals to execute the killing in a bid to instill fear within the RSS and society at large, portraying the act as a 'holy war' against the organisation, as per NIA statements.

Authorities have reportedly revealed that Nayazi, also known as Ghouse Bhai, had been residing in RT Nagar, Bengaluru, and was traced to the United Arab Emirates by the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad.

Despite his Indian passport expiring in 2021, he remained in Dubai without pursuing renewal procedures. Subsequently, Dubai authorities deported him to Ahmedabad to face legal repercussions.

India's anti-terror agency declared a significant breakthrough in identifying 43 Khalistan supporters linked to acts of vandalism against Indian high commissions in the UK, US, and Canada. The National Investigative Agency (NIA) attributed its success to an innovative approach to crowd-sourcing information.

In its comprehensive year-end review for 2023, the agency said it conducted more than 50 raids and searches.

It examined 80 individuals in India suspected of involvement in the conspiracy behind overseas attacks on Indian interests. In total, more than 1,000 raids were conducted.

As part of its achievements in 2023, the NIA boasted a remarkable conviction rate of 94.7 per cent.&nbsp;

With 625 arrests and the attachment of 240 assets valued at approximately ₹56 crore (about $7 million), the NIA&nbsp;continued to combat&nbsp;acts of terrorism, gang activities, drug smuggling, human trafficking and other criminal operations that pose threats to India's national interests.

Also, arrests were made upon deportation and extradition, including those of Amritpal Singh alias Ammy, Amrik Singh, Manpreet Singh alias Peeta, and Mandeep Singh who was deported from the Philippines. Most of these are Khalistan supporters.

Vikram Brar, a Punjabi gangster,&nbsp;was arrested upon deportation from the United Arab Emirates.

The searches also led to the seizure of explosive raw materials, such as sulphur, potassium nitrate, charcoal, gunpowder, sugar and ethanol, sharp-edged weapons, unaccounted cash, documents exposing terror plans, along with smartphones and other digital devices.

The 19 locations, where the raids were conducted, included Ballari and Bengaluru in Karnataka, Amaravati, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra, Jamshedpur and Bokaro in Jharkhand and Delhi.

As per the initial probes by NIA, the accused had planned on using explosive raw materials for the fabrication of IEDs which were to be deployed for carrying out attacks.

Investigations further revealed that the accused were constantly in touch with one another via encrypted applications and were planning attacks and recruiting youths, NIA said in a statement.

Six locations, including the houses of four accused, one of whom is still absconding, were extensively searched in the case last week, on Dec 13, as part of the anti-terror agency's continuing investigations into the case.

The other locations that were searched were premises connected with two other suspects.

Three accused are currently absconding in the case, registered under various sections of IPC, the UA(P) Act, 1967 and the Explosive Substances Act, 1884.&nbsp;

According to the Jammu and Kashmir government, over 500 properties belonging to terrorists, terror sympathisers and OGWs have been seized by various agencies like the National Investigative Agency (NIA), State Investigative Agency (SIA), State Investigation Unit (SIU), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Properties worth hundreds of crores have been seized in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir government, around 4,200 terrorists who are living in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have been listed among the “proclaimed offenders” by the government of India and their properties are being attached.&nbsp;

The inspector-general of registrations and revenue has already received a list of around 4,200 terrorists living in PoK from the last three decades. The revenue department most likely would be seizing the properties and making sure that these properties are neither sold nor bought by anyone.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police recently also attached properties of those found guilty of wilfully providing shelter to the terrorists.

“Those who are involved in the terror activities, and who are a part of the terror ecosystem, those people who make lavish houses, gather huge money, and have bought properties in Dubai, London and Delhi. Those involved in terror financing, we will have to take action against them. Those who have made terror a business will be dealt with strictly with seizing of their properties,” said DGP R R Swain.

The government agencies have seized the properties of separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabbir Shah, and Asiya Andrabi, along with confiscating Hurriyat’s office. The head of the United Jihad Council Saeed Salauddin and his son’s property were taken as well. The house of terrorist Mushtaq Zargar, who was released in exchange for the passengers of IC-814, has also been seized.

India’s premier&nbsp;investigative agency, the NIA, has booked Khalistani ‘listed terrorist’ Gurpatwant Singh Pannun over a video where he threatened Air India passengers.

The founder of Sikhs for Justice has been booked under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

He has also been charged under sections 10 (member of an unlawful association), 13 (for taking part in or committing or advocating any unlawful activity), 16 (terrorist act), 17 (funding terrorist act), 18 (conspiring or attempting to commit, or advocating, abetting, advising or inciting a terrorist act), 18B (for recruiting of any person or persons for terrorist act) &amp; 20 (for being a member of a terrorist gang or a terrorist organization) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

<h2>Shared threatening video on Nov 4</h2>

In a video shared online on Nov 4, Pannun had asked the Sikh community not to take the Indian carrier flight on the said date, claiming that their lives would be in danger if they did so.

"We are asking the Sikh people not to fly via Air India. From November 19, there will be a global blockade. Air India won't be allowed to operate. Sikh people, don't travel by Air India after November 19. Your life can be in danger," Pannun said.

IGIA is located in New Delhi, and one of the world’s busiest airports.

On November 19 (Sunday), India played Australia in the World Cup final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

He had also vowed to rename the airport after his plan to secede Punjab from India succeeds.

"The name of this airport will be Shahid Beant Singh, Shahid Satwant Singh Khalistan airport, when Punjab will be liberated," he added.

<h2>Pannun's threat spurred high alert&nbsp;</h2>

Pannun’s assertions and threats have triggered a high alert as well as investigations by security forces in Canada, India, and certain other countries where Air India flies, the NIA said in a statement.

“The latest threat is in line with the same narrative, which Pannun has actively promoted in the past by threatening and&nbsp;attempting to disrupt essential transportation network systems, including the Railways, as well as Thermal Power Plants in India", it added.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Wednesday (Sept 27), detained several people after a multi-state crackdown on the nexus between terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers at 53 locations across six states in India.

In these raids, other than Arsh Dalla, the gangsters that were under the NIA scanner were Lawrence Bishnoi, Sukha Duneke, Harry Maur, Narender alias Lali, Kala Jatheri, and Deepak Tinu. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The NIA seized pistols, ammunition, large numbers of digital devices and incriminating materials during the raids that spanned across six states of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, said reports of news agency ANI.&nbsp;

Some of the locations where raids were conducted included Amritsar, Moga, Fazilka, Ludhiana, Mohali, Faridkot, Barnala, Bhatinda, Ferozpur, SAS Nagar, Amritsar, and Jalandhar districts of Punjab; Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad and Faridabad districts of Haryana; Sri Ganga Nagar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan; Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh; Dehradun and Udhamsingh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand; besides South-east district of Delhi and NCR and Union Territory of Chandigarh.

This is the seventh in the series of such crackdowns launched by the NIA amid strained diplomatic ties between Ottawa and New Delhi over the death of Khalistan terror organisation leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

<h2>Conspiracies hatched in jails</h2>

The NIA released a statement saying that the raids that were conducted on Wednesday, were aimed at dismantling the terror-gangster-drug smuggler nexus.&nbsp;

"These gangs are working with drug smugglers and terrorists based out of other countries, including Pakistan, UAE, Canada and Portugal."

It further said that its probes into the matter revealed that the conspiracies of targeted killings, and terror funding activities of pro-Khalistan outfits, were being hatched in prisons of different states and were being executed by an organised network of operatives based abroad.

Among such conspiracies, were the killing of Maharashtra builder Sanjay Biyani, mining trader Mehal Singh and international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab last year, the anti-terror agency stated.

"Many of the criminals and gangsters, who were earlier leading gangs in the country, have fled abroad in recent years and are now carrying out their terror and violence-related activities from there," the NIA stated

"These criminals have been engaged in planning and commissioning serious crimes, including contract and revenge killings, in association with criminals lodged in jails across India. These groups have been carrying out targeted killings and raising funds for attacks and other nefarious activities through smuggling of drugs and weapons, hawala and extortions," the agency added.

In the early hours of Wednesday, NIA conducted a swift raid on the house of a liquor contractor in the village Takhtupura of Moga district in Punjab.

Gangster Arsh Dala had demanded ransom from this contractor and this contractor had given some part of the ransom to Arsh Dala. In this regard, NIA is conducting an inquiry, sources said.

The NIA also raided a gun house in the Bajpur police station area of ​​Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. NIA has raided another house in the Clementown police station area of ​​Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.

The NIA in its post issued pictures of Lawrence Bishnoi, Jasdeep Singh, Kala Jatheri alias Sandeep, Virender Pratap alias Kala Rana and Joginder Singh along with their names. It highlighted that many of these gangsters are based in Canada. Earlier on September 21 the agency had conducted raids at more than 1000 locations in Punjab and Haryana associated with fugitive gangster Goldy Brar. Punjab police officers along with the NIA had carried out the operation.&nbsp;

Goldy Brar is among the most wanted gangsters named by the NIA. He is also suspected to be behind the recent killing of another gangster Sukha Dunike who was shot dead in the Canadian city of Winnipeg.&nbsp;

Several of these wanted gangsters are said to be operating out of Canada, with close links between Khalistan sympathisers and gangsters. In 2018, during Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to Amritsar, India had handed him over a list of nine Khalistani operatives said to be in Canada.&nbsp;

According to media reports, the meeting is scheduled to take place on October 5 and 6, in the national capital where the Indian agencies will reportedly gear up against Khalistani terrorists.&nbsp;

The move to tackle the extremist activists will be focused in the Indian states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana, as well as Jammu and Kashmir, western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR, as per media reports.&nbsp;

The Canadian PM, in a statement to the House of Commons&nbsp;nearly a week ago, said, “Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.”

However, since then Trudeau has changed his tune and is now looking to pacify New Delhi after receiving <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/white-house-denies-allegations-it-rejected-canadas-claims-regarding-separatist-leaders-killing-638037">no support from allies</a>. The Canadian PM said Ottawa wants New Delhi to address the issue properly.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has unearthed a complex financial network linking Canada-based top Khalistani terrorists and gangsters to money generated in India through extortion, smuggling, and other illicit activities.

This nefarious wealth not only fuels their violent activities in both India and Canada, but also finds its way into unexpected investments, including yachts, movies, and even the Canadian Premier League.

The&nbsp;investigation further reveals that the money amassed by gangsters through extortion, smuggling and other illegal activities has also been funnelled to clubs and bars in Thailand as investment, accentuating the global scale of these financial activities, said a report&nbsp;in the Hindustan Times.

<h2>Funds transcending&nbsp;borders</h2>

The NIA's probe has exposed a series of financial transactions spanning from 2019 to 2021, where amounts ranging from ₹5 lakh ($6.5K) to ₹60 lakh ($72.2K)&nbsp;were sent by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to Canada and Thailand through the hawala route.

Bishnoi, working closely with Khalistani groups in Canada, particularly with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) leader Lakhbir Singh Landa, was a key figure in this illicit operation.

According to the NIA's charge sheet, money collected through extortion, illegal liquor, arms smuggling, and other illicit activities was transferred to Canada, specifically to one Satbir Singh alias Sam, for further investment and to fund radical activities of pro-Khalistan elements (PKEs).

The charge sheet identifies Sam as the pointsperson for managing illegal funds in Canada, mentioning investments in yachts, film financing, and the organisation of the Canadian Premier League. Bishnoi, currently incarcerated, confessed to receiving funds from Sam on multiple occasions.

The NIA's revelations include transactions such as ₹2 lakh ($2.4K) sent monthly to Goldy Brar in 2021, two payments of ₹20 lakh ($25K) each to Brar in 2020, ₹50 lakh ($60K)&nbsp;given to Sam in 2020, and a total of ₹60 lakh ($72K) distributed to both Brar and Sam in 2021. While the agency has yet to provide detailed information on the nature of these investments in Canada, it is clear that substantial amounts were involved.

The probe also uncovered that funds collected by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were funnelled to Manish Bhandari in Thailand through hawala. Bhandari is&nbsp;a Delhi resident, who is based in Thailand where he&nbsp;owns clubs in Bangkok and Pattaya. 
 
Bhandari, reportedly, invested these funds in nightclubs and bars. Additionally, when members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang traveled to Thailand, Bhandari provided them accommodation and logistical support.

Highlighting the collaboration between Bishnoi's gang and pro-Khalistan elements (PKEs), the NIA charge sheet reveals that Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) leaders sought experienced shooters in India.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with its extensive presence across multiple Indian states and Union territories, filled this void, offering an array of illegal services. For Indian gangs, partnering with PKEs and terror groups offers access to advanced weaponry, money laundering opportunities, and the means to relocate members abroad through the PKE network.

From extortion, arms smuggling to buying fancy yachts, this is how Khalistanis invested funds and flourished

India's National Investigation Agency has confiscated the properties of banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) chief&nbsp;Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in Amritsar and Chandigarh, media reports said. The confiscated properties include 46 kanal of agricultural property in the ancestral village Khankot, located on the outskirts of Amritsar district.

Another property that is confiscated by India's law enforcement agency is his house no. 2033 in Sector 15-C, Chandigarh. After confiscation, Pannun lost rights to the property and the property now belongs to the government.&nbsp;In 2020, his properties were attached, which meant he could not sell them.

The central agency also pasted a property confiscation notice outside a house belonging to slain Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Bharsingh Pura village of Jalandhar district.&nbsp;

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a designated terrorist in India. Earlier, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau insinuated connections between the Indian government and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Pannun threatened the Hindus living in Canada to leave the country and announced a fresh referendum and vote asking if the Indian high commissioner was responsible for the assassination of the Khalistani terrorist.

A diplomatic row was sparked between India and Canada after Trudeau accused 'agents of the Indian government' of orchestrating the attack. 
 
"Indo-Canadian Hindus, you have repudiated your allegiance to Canada and the Canadian constitution. Your destination is India. Leave Canada, and go to India. Pro-Khalistan Sikhs have always been loyal to Canada. They have always sided with Canada and uphold the laws and constitution," Pannun was heard saying in the 45-second video.

"On October 29, the shaheed (martyr) Nijjar referendum is happening in Vancouver. I urge all Canadian Sikhs to be in Vancouver on October 29, to vote on: Is the Indian High Commissioner Responsible for the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar," he said.&nbsp;

Earlier, his SFJ outfit vowed to hold protests and shut down Indian consulate offices in Canada in the coming week, Canadian media outlet Global News reported. &nbsp;

“We will not allow the Indian consulates to function and we’re going to push the Canadian government to name the individuals who are responsible for assassinating and giving the orders to hit Nijjar,” Khalistani radical Gurpatwant Singh Pannun from Sikhs for Justice told the outlet.&nbsp;

NIA confiscates SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu’s properties in Amritsar and Chandigarh

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Wednesday (September 20), revealed details of 43 people associated with a terror-gangster network having links to Canada, amid strained diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The NIA, taking to its official X handle, also asked people to share information about properties, assets or businesses owned by these individuals which can be further taken over by the central government.

It has also asked to share details of their business partners, workers, employees, and collection agents.

In its post, the NIA issued pictures of Lawrence Bishnoi, Jasdeep Singh, Kala Jatheri alias Sandeep, Virender Pratap alias Kala Rana and Joginder Singh.

"Persons shown in photos below are accused in the NIA Cases RC-38/2022/NIA/DLI or RC-39/2022/NIA/DLI. If any of you has any information about properties/assets/ business owned by them in their name or in the name of their associates, friends &amp; relatives, please WhatsApp DM @ +91 7290009373," the NIA said on X.

The agency also unveiled that the majority of these gangsters were based out of Canada.

This comes amidst rising tensions between India&nbsp;and Canada after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on Monday (September 18), accused the Indian government of being involved in the fatal shooting of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, one of the prominent secessionist faces who operated from Canada.

Notably, the 45-year-old Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief was shot dead on June 18 by two unidentified men in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Surrey, Canada.

<h2>India-Canada issue&nbsp;travel advisories</h2>

On Wednesday (September 20), both India and Canada issued travel advisories cautioning their respective nationals against travelling to the countries.

“In view of growing anti-India activities and politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those contemplating travel are urged to exercise utmost caution,” the travel advisory issued by India reads.

“Recently, threats have particularly targeted Indian diplomats and sections of the Indian community who oppose the anti-India agenda. Indian nationals are therefore advised to avoid travelling to regions and potential venues in Canada that have seen such incidents.”

On the other hand, the Canadian government said, “Avoid all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir due to the unpredictable security situation.”

India: Investigation agency NIA releases details of terror-gangster network with links to Canada

India’s federal anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched raids at 31 locations Saturday (Sept 16) to detect and thwart a radicalisation and recruitment drive organised by global terror group ISIS.

The locations were raided across the south Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana, during which several digital devices, documents and incriminating books in vernacular and Arabic languages, and Rs 60 lakh, as well as $18,200 in cash, were seized.

The agency will now investigate the data stored on the seized devices.

<h2>'Khilafat' ideology</h2>

As per officials from NIA, the ISIS-inspired agents were engaged in the propagation of the 'Khilafat' ideology, which is inimical to India's constitutionally established principles of secularism and democracy.

The agency raided at least 26 locations in Tamil Nadu while other five sites were raided in Telangana’s Hyderabad.

"The radicalisation was being carried out in the garb of holding Arabic language classes through their Regional Study Centres. Such radicalisation activities were being flashed through social media platforms and online messaging services like WhatsApp and Telegram," a spokesperson for the NIA said.

“The searches were conducted in connection with a case, registered by NIA Chennai under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, that pertains to clandestine operations by a group of individuals to radicalise vulnerable youth,” the official said.

<h2>Case related to 2022 Coimbatore blast</h2>

The group of persons involved in the case had entered into a conspiracy to radicalise and recruit youth who were later found involved in terrorist as well as unlawful acts and activities. One such terror attack related to the Coimbatore car bomb blast case of October 23 of last year, the agency revealed.

India’s anti-terror agency NIA conducts raids, thwarts radicalisation, recruitment drive of ISIS

National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s anti-terror agency, raided 31 locations across the northern states of Punjab and Haryana to locate the culprits involved in the March 19 attacks on Indian High Commission in London.

The agency carried out the raids on Tuesday (August 1) to search, identify and arrest all those involved in the attack organised by pro-Khalistani elements.

“It has been carrying out extensive investigations into the incident with a view to ensuring there is no repeat of such breach of security, disrespect to the Indian National Flag or any threat to Indian interests abroad,” said the NIA in a statement.

The team seized digital data containing information related to those involved in the attack on the High Commission and other incriminating documents, the spokesperson said.

During the operation, the agency raided the house of Soni Kaur, a widow living at Dhurkot Ransih village in Nihal Singh Wala sub-division of Moga district, the Hindustan newspaper reported.

According to the NIA, her son and daughter had allegedly participated in the protest outside the Indian mission.

The brother-sister duo had moved to the UK last year and their father Jaswinder Singh died a few years ago.

Kaur, however, said her husband had a licenced gun which they sold after his death. But they were not able to sell the cartridges, she said.

Kaur has been asked to appear at the agency’s headquarters in New Delhi on August 10 for questioning.

Notably, Kaur’s father-in-law Jagtar Singh was the driver of slain militant preacher Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale—a leading figure in the Khalistani movement.

The raids come after an NIA team visited UK in May to gather evidence in the case.

Subsequently, “crowdsourcing” was also initiated to identify and collect information about the UK-based entities and individuals involved in the incident. The attackers were identified based on those details.

On March 19, around 50 people attacked the High Commission of India and caused disrespect to the Indian National flag, apart from damaging public property and causing injuries to officials of the high commission.

The agency said that &nbsp;the attack was organised by Gurcharan Singh, Dal Khalsa, United Kingdom; Avtar Singh Khanda of Khalistan Liberation Force (who recently died); Jasvir Singh and many of their associates, both Indian and foreign nationals, who have been identified during the NIA investigations.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday once again cracked down on the newly floated offshoots of proscribed Pakistan-backed terrorist outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir. NIA conducted raids at five locations in the three districts of Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama in the Kashmir valley, and seized several digital devices containing massive incriminating data.

“The locations raided today were residential premises of hybrid terrorists and Overground Workers (OGWs) linked with the newly formed offshoots and affiliates of several banned Kashmiri terrorist outfits. Premises of sympathisers and cadres of these organisations were also raided,” said NIA.&nbsp;

According to National Investigation Agency, all these cadres and workers are being investigated for activities relating to terror, violence and subversion in J&amp;K. Authorities suspect their involvement in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotic substances and arms/ammunitions.&nbsp;
