Terrorists had opened fire on a bus transporting pilgrims from Shiv Khori to Katra on June 9 in the Pouni region of the Reasi district, forcing the vehicle to crash.

On June 15, the NIA assumed control of the case under orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The raids in Rajouri were carried out based on information from Hakam Khan, also known as Hakin Din, a major suspect apprehended on June 19 in the terror incident.&nbsp;

In its preliminary investigation, the NIA revealed that Din supposedly gave the terrorists shelter, food, and logistical help.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mohita Sharma said that Din not only provided shelter to the assailants but also enabled their movements.

"The arrested person is a prime militant associate who helped the terrorists in the execution of the attack. Further interrogation and investigation of the case is going on," she said.

Din disclosed&nbsp;that three terrorists were staying at his home throughout, and added that the terrorists gave him ₹6,000.

Following a spate of terror incidents in June in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi assessed the security situation in the Union territory.&nbsp;

The government is "seriously" concerned about the recent terror incidents, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and no effort would be spared to get to the bottom of this investigation.

"The enemies of peace and humanity are not happy with the development in Jammu and Kashmir. There were some terror attacks recently... the government has taken it seriously. The Home Minister, with the J&amp;K Administration, has reviewed the situation," PM Modi said.

The two accused are wanted in the case related to firing at the house of a businessman as part of an extortion bid on March 8 this year, said a statement issued by the probe agency.

The case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act against accused Satwinder Singh alias Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, son of Shamsher Singh, a resident of Adesh Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib City, Punjab, and accused Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon alias Goldy Rajpura, son of Sukhjinder Singh of Baba Deep Singh Colony, Rajpura, Punjab, it said.

"The NIA on Wednesday spread its dragnet further in search of designated terrorist Goldy Brar and one other gangster wanted in a case of extortion and firing at the house of a businessman in Chandigarh with the declaration of a cash reward for their arrest," the statement said.

The agency has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh each for any information leading to the apprehension/arrest of either of the two men, it said, adding the "identity of the informant will be kept a secret".

The Union Home Ministry on Monday handed over the probe into the recent terror attack on a bus in Jammu and Kashmir to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), officials said.

Nine people, including three women were killed, and 41 injured as a bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi plunged into a deep gorge after an ambush by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on June 9.

The terrorists opened fire at the 53-seater bus when it was en route from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra.

The investigation into the June 9 terror attack on a bus in Jammu and Kashmir has been handed over to the NIA, an official said.

The decision came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations for the annual Amarnath yatra in two back-to-back meetings here.

The meetings were called in the wake of the terror attack on the bus in Reasi district and a few other terror incidents in the Union Territory.

On June 11, terrorists fired at a joint checkpost of the Rashtriya Rifles and police at Chattergalla in Bhaderwah while a search party in the Gandoh area of Doda district was attacked on June 12, resulting in injuries to seven security personnel, including a policeman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on June 13 where he directed officials to deploy the "full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities" after a spate of terror incidents, including the attack on the bus carrying pilgrims.

The NIA on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar and 11 others for their alleged involvement in the killing of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi last year, according to an official statement.

Brar has been designated a terrorist by the government under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He has been involved in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border, supplying them for carrying out killings and also providing sharpshooters.

According to the statement, NIA investigations have revealed the involvement of the notorious terrorist-gangster syndicate behind the killing of Gogamedi, who was shot dead in the living room of his house in Shyam Nagar colony in Jaipur in December 2023.

Two others - Naveen Shekhawat and Ajeet Singh - were killed while Gogamedi's gunman Narender Singh was injured in the attack.

Moving swiftly with its investigations in the case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested eight persons for their involvement in the conspiracy to kill Gogamedi, the statement from the federal probe agency said.

Four others, including gangsters Mahendra Kumar, Ravataram Swami alias Rohit Godara, Virendra Charan, and Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, are still absconding, said the NIA statement.

In its charge sheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Jaipur, the NIA has charged all the 12 identified accused, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and UAPA.

NIA investigations have revealed that Rohit Godara was the mastermind who had hatched the murder conspiracy along with accused Virendra Charan, Goldy Brar and others. After the killing, Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar claimed responsibility and used it to threaten and extort money from other people, the statement said.

The two assailants -- Rohit Rathore and Nitin -- had received pistols and several rounds of bullets for carrying out the attack on Gogamedi, the probe agency said.

While fleeing Gogamedi's house, the duo had also attacked an i-10 car and a scooty rider and used the two-wheeler to escape, it said, adding that accused Mahendra Kumar and his wife co-accused Puja Saini had harboured Nitin before the murder.

"Rahul had taken the help of accused Bhawani Singh to hire the services of Nitin Fauji for the attack. Bhawani was provided weapons and shelter by one Ashok Kumar," the statement said.

It was Udham Singh who, along with Bhawani Singh and Rahul, had sent Nitin to Jaipur to execute the plan. Accused Rambeer had given shelter to Nitin despite knowing of his involvement in another arms case, the agency said.

Further investigations into the case are in progress and a search is on for the absconders, the NIA said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted multi-state raids and arrested five persons allegedly involved in international human trafficking and cyber fraud syndicate.

The accused were luring Indian youths to foreign countries on false promises of employment, an official statement said.

The youths were being forced to work in fake call centres at Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Laos and Cambodia, among other places, as part of the racket, controlled and operated mainly by foreign nationals, it said.

They were coerced into undertaking illegal activities online, such as credit card fraud, investments in cryptocurrency using fake applications, honey trapping, etc., the probe agency said.

Manish Hingu of Vadodara, Pahlad Singh of Gopalganj, Nabialam Ray of southwest Delhi, Balwant Kataria of Gurugram and Sartaj Singh of Chandigarh were arrested following a crackdown at 15 locations in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh, it said.

The NIA carried out a coordinated operation with state police forces and central intelligence agencies across all the locations.

The searches led to the seizure of several incriminating materials including documents, digital devices, handwritten registers, multiple passports and bogus overseas employment letters, among others.

Eight fresh FIRs have been registered by different state/UT police forces and five accused have been arrested, the NIA said.

Investigations have further revealed that the arrested accused were coordinating with traffickers operating from across the international border to facilitate illegal border-crossing of Indian youths from Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam to Laos SEZ, it said.

They were working at the behest of foreign-based agents belonging to well organised syndicates that were active in several districts of Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana among others, the NIA said.

“These syndicates were further connected to operatives based in other parts of India, as well as foreign countries like the UAE, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos SEZ, etc.,” it added.

The searches and subsequent arrest are part of the NIA probe in a case it took over from the Mumbai Police on May 13.

It found that the human trafficking syndicate was not operating merely in Mumbai but had linkages with other facilitators and traffickers in various parts of the country and across the border, the probe agency said.

The NIA investigations have revealed that the accused were involved in an organised trafficking syndicate engaged in luring and trafficking Indian youths to foreign countries on the false promises of employment.

The searches and subsequent arrest are part of the NIA probe in a case it took over from the Mumbai Police on May 13. It found that the human trafficking syndicate was not operating merely in Mumbai but had linkages with other facilitators and traffickers in various parts of the country and across the border, the probe agency said. The NIA investigations have revealed that the accused were involved in an organised trafficking syndicate engaged in luring and trafficking Indian youths to foreign countries on the false promises of employment.

The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Shoaib Ahmed Mirza alias Chhotu who was an ex-convict in a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) &nbsp;terror conspiracy case. He is a resident of Hubbali City in Karnataka.

NIA stated that after being released from prison, Mirza got involved in this conspiracy.

In 2018, he became friends with accused Abdul Matheen Taahaa and introduced him to an online handler who is suspected to be living abroad, said the federal probe agency.

Mirza then set up an e-mail ID in order to establish a channel for encrypted communication between the handler and Abdul Matheen Taahaa.

Taahaa was apprehended on April 12 along with co-accused Mussavir Hussain Shazib from Kolkata in the eastern state of West Bengal.

Shazib, as per the agency, had placed the IED at Rameshwaram cafe, and Taahaa was the 'mastermind' of the conspiracy.

"The absconders in the Rameswaram Cafe blast case, Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, were traced to their hideout near Kolkata and apprehended by an NIA team. In the early morning hours of April 12, the NIA successfully traced the absconding accused near Kolkata, where they were hiding under false identities," the NIA statement said.

"Mussavir Hussain Shazib is the accused who placed the IED at the café, and Abdul Matheen Taha is the mastermind behind the planning, execution of the blast, and subsequent evasion from the clutches of law," NIA added.

Police in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal booked officials of the federal National Investigation Agency (NIA) under charges of molestation after they were attacked in East Medinipur on Saturday (Apr 6) during the raid and investigation of a 2022 blast.

NIA officers were charged under sections 354 (molestation) and 441 (trespassing) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Bhupatinagar police station of East Medinipur. The FIR was filed following complaints by family members of the arrested accused and All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker Manabroto Jana. TMC is currently in power in West Bengal, led by the CM Mamata Banerjee.

As per the complaint, NIA officials molested women by breaking the doors of their houses late at night.

Earlier, the NIA also filed a case at Bhupatinagar police station in relation to the attack on them by locals. No one has been arrested in the case so far.

<h2>NIA refutes allegations</h2>

Following the accusations, the NIA team refuted claims and asserted that the attack was "unprovoked." The agency, in a statement on Sunday (Apr 8) said, “NIA made it clear that its actions were bona fide, lawful and legally mandated, as part of its ongoing investigation into the heinous crime related to the fabrication of crude bombs… NIA has reiterated that its team had come under violent attack by an unruly mob when they had gone to conduct searches in Naruabila village on Saturday in connection with its probe in said case.”

<h2>Its an attack on the Indian Constitution, says BJP</h2>

The NIA team was attacked after they arrested two TMC workers in connection with the December 3, 2022 blast which killed three people. Balai Maiti and Manobrata Jana were picked up by the federal agency for investigation. However, their vehicles were soon attacked, resulting in minor injuries to at least two NIA officers.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the West Bengal government for the attack, calling it an attack on the Indian Constitution.

“Attacking a Central agency means attacking the Indian Constitution. Booking NIA officials under molestation charges for performing their duties is an indication of the collapse of all constitutional bodies. They have launched a war against the Indian Constitution,” said BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya.

Opposition party CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty also criticised the Mamata administration for filing cases against NIA officials.

“The State government is provoking. The NIA attacked, but the police didn’t arrest anyone involved in that incident. Rather they have booked NIA officials. It is so unfortunate. What do you expect when the CM herself is sending a message that the central agency cannot act against them,” said Chakraborty.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the NIA's actions and alleged that the central agencies are biased towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

During a raid conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the East Medinipur district of West Bengal on Saturday (Apr 6), officers of the agency were attacked by locals&nbsp; and one of them sustained injuries.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This tumultuous turn of events took place during the operation when the officers sought to arrest the suspects involved in the 2022 Bhupatinagar bomb blast case.

The explosion at the time killed three individuals in Naruabilla village. It is pertinent to note that initially the case was investigated by the West Bengal Police but was later transferred to the NIA.

The transfer of the case to NIA took place following a petition urging the inclusion of relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, which was earlier not initiated. The plea was filed in the Calcutta High Court.

NIA nabbed Manobrata Jana and Balai Charan Maity who were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to manufacture and detonate crude bombs.&nbsp;

When the NIA team reached to arrest the two, they encountered resistance from locals and women of the region leading to one NIA officer sustaining injuries.

The arrest came after extensive searches at five different locations. The search was also carried out at Jana's residence.

When the team was scurrying through the area, the officials&nbsp;faced unexpected and "stiff resistance" from an "unruly" mob. Later, the situation rapidly deteriorated as the mob assaulted NIA officers.

The people also caused damage to property and attacked a vehicle's windscreen.&nbsp;

When the NIA team reached to arrest the two, they encountered resistance from locals and women of the region leading to one NIA officer sustaining injuries. The arrest came after extensive searches at five different locations. The search was also carried out at Jana's residence. It is pertinent to note that NIA in a post has refuted the arrest of any of the accused yet, let alone BJP worker, and also warned that people must be cautious of unverified news items.&nbsp;

The NIA, in an official statement&nbsp;posted on the microblogging site X&nbsp;disclosed that Mussavir Hussain Shazib,&nbsp;the primary perpetrator of the IED blast, has been identified.&nbsp;

Alongside this, NIA also confirmed, that a co-conspirator Abdul Matheen Taahaa has also been identified by the agency. Notably, both are residents of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district in the state of Karnataka.

They also flagged the importance of gathering evidence without risking the safety of individuals who are summoned in connection to the probe being conducted.&nbsp;

In a statement, the NIA said that the accused were actively involved in promoting the anti-India agenda of the proscribed terror outfit.&nbsp;

The accused were identified as Mohammad Rizwan Ashraf of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Arshad Warsi of Dehradun in Uttarakhand and Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.&nbsp;

"During its investigations into the Borivali-Padgha (Maharashtra) ISIS terror module case, the agency had seized incriminating material related to manufacturing of explosives and fabrication of IEDs, along with propaganda magazines like 'Voice of Hind', 'Rumiyah', 'Khilafat', 'Dabiq' published by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)," the NIA said in the statement.

The probe revealed that the trio had been sharing digital files related to the fabrication of IEDs with their contacts and&nbsp;were also found to be actively raising funds for their terror plans. They aimed at extending&nbsp;ISIS activities and&nbsp;promoting&nbsp;its extremist and violent ideology.&nbsp;

The investigating&nbsp;agency said that the accused had carried out&nbsp;preparatory&nbsp;acts to unleash&nbsp;terrorist attacks, including recruitment of vulnerable youth into the organisation.&nbsp;

The suspects, identified as Minaj alias Md Sulaiman, Shayan Rahman alias Hussain, Syed Sameer, and Anas Iqbal Shaikh were previously apprehended during an NIA operation in December 2023.

The CCTV footage traced the suspect's journey from the blast site to Ballari. There, he is believed to have changed attire multiple times to evade any suspicion, media reports said citing sources.

Now, the authorities are investigating whether the suspect boarded buses to other destinations from Ballari, potentially towards coastal or northern border areas.

Reports citing sources also suggested that the suspect may have used day passes for Volvo city buses for transportation to and from the site of the attack.

The suspect was captured on CCTV footage taking a Volvo bus near the cafe, and changing his shirt for a T-shirt shortly afterward.

He discarded key evidence, a baseball cap, before boarding a state bus bound for Tumkur.

After several hours, he reappeared on CCTV at the Ballari bus stand. The suspect reportedly changed buses multiple times during his journey, suggesting meticulous planning in planting the bomb and making his escape.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on March 2 received emails containing threats of additional "bomb blasts" within the state.

After taking over the case in October last year, the NIA revealed that accused Naseer, who was involved in several blast cases, had contacted the other accused while they were in the Bengaluru prison in 2017. He had managed to get them all transferred to his barrack to radicalise and recruit them into the LeT.

Naseer first radicalised and recruited Ahmed and Khan and then conspired with the former to radicalise and recruit the remaining accused.&nbsp;

According to the CCTV footage, the suspect has been identified as a 28/30-year-old man, who came to the cafe during lunchtime and left the restaurant after ordering a Rava idli for himself. However, he left behind a bag that carried an IED.&nbsp;

The man is seen in the CCTV footage where his face and head are covered with a mask and a cap.

Co-founder and CEO of the Rameshwaram Cafe, Raghavendra Rao, earlier said that both the Central government and state government should ensure such incidents don’t happen in the future.
