Charles, who paid tribute to Attenborough`s work, made his first speech on the environment in 1968 and has long warned of the dangers of human damage to the natural world.&nbsp; 
 
"What I want to know is how can we possibly sacrifice our children`s and grandchildren`s entire future, let alone the future of all life on this miraculous planet by not doing what is required now," he said in a speech at the event. 
 
He said he hoped 'Our Planet' would educate hundreds of millions of people around the world about what action was required. Charles also said it was a source of great pride that both his sons had taken up the cause of conservation. 
 
The eight-part series, which showcases the natural world and the threats it faces, will be released on Friday.&nbsp; 
 
Produced by the makers of the award-winning 'Planet Earth' show, it takes viewers from glaciers to jungles, looking at how their animal inhabitants are challenged by changes in climate, surroundings and human actions. 
 
"Don`t be extravagant, don`t waste, do what you can to cut out unnecessary expenditure, don`t eat more than you need, don`t travel more than you need," Attenborough told Reuters at the premiere when asked what his message would be to the world. 
 
"Be responsible careful citizens of this planet which is our only home, and for the creatures that live in it." 
 
More than 600 crew members were involved in the four-year project, filming in 50 countries. 
 
Attenborough, who has helped raise awareness of plastic pollution in the sea, said he hoped the show`s message would resonate worldwide through the streaming service`s global reach. 
 
"The problem is worldwide and the solution has to be worldwide," he told Reuters in an interview ahead of the premiere. "It is a world thing, that`s why this distribution of this is so important. The thought that it will be seen around the world is very, very important."

The tech giant's presentation of its new product was made by film director Steven Spielberg - who announced that he will produce content for Apple TV+ - along with other celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Jason Momoa.

Apple TV+ will be available in more than 100 countries starting this fall, it will not include ads and - so far - the company has not announced what will its price be.

On the consumer finance front, Apple is partnering with Goldman Sachs to market its own credit card - the Apple Card - which will have both physical and digital versions and will not charge fees of any kind.

To get the card, users must request it through their iPhone's digital wallet, also known as the Apple Wallet.

In addition to Goldman Sachs, the company run by Tim Cook also reached an agreement with Mastercard to carry out the payment process.

The card can be used at any establishment that accepts the company's payment system Apple Pay and will offset all purchases with 2 per cent cashback - 3 per cent in the case of purchasing Apple products - when using the digital version and 1 per cent when using the physical card.

The tech giant also introduced a new news service, Apple News+, the main novelty of which is the addition of magazine articles, something that the currently available free Apple News service does not provide.

"Magazines are iconic and a part of our culture ... all of these magazines come to life in an all-new service that we call Apple News+," Cook, CEO of the Cupertino, California-based tech giant, said during the presentation of the new subscription-based news service.

News+ will allow users to access articles from 300 different magazines, including National Geographic, Time, Vogue, People, Popular Science, Billboard, The New Yorker, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, TechCrunch and New York Magazine.

In addition to magazines, subscribers will also be able to access paid articles from two major US newspapers - The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times - but not those from The New York Times and The Washington Post, the latter of which is owned by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

One of the elements that were emphasized by the tech giant's executives was the "respect" that the new service has for the privacy of its online users, given that it does not collect data on what readers are consuming or allow advertisers to monitor people's habits, the executives said.

Such comments were made in reference to Facebook and Google, Apple's main competitors, who have been harshly criticized in recent months for their management of data collected from users.

The horrific incident proved to be a catalyst of sorts as it brought citizens of the country on the street demanding quick judgment on rape cases and swift action against those guilty. It was also the case that &nbsp;Delhi Police earned praises and criticism for. While their prompt response in nabbing the perpetrators was lauded, they were also questioned for failing to provide adequate security for women in the capital city. Six years after the landmark case, Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta recounts the entire incident in a new seven-part series called 'Delhi Crime' which tells the story from Delhi Police' perspective. Featuring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang and others the show is available on Netflix.&nbsp;

Shefali Shah, who plays DCP Vertika Chaturvedi in the show, says that she took exactly 3 minutes to say 'yes' to Mehta. Shah's character is shown to be in charge of the investigative team that eventually cracked the case and arrested the rapists. Considering the show is based on a real-life incident, Shah says that the team was aware that it had to be approached with sensitivity and a certain amount of responsibility. "When I heard what Richie had in mind, I knew he would treat this with great sensitivity. The incident shook and scarred all of us- something that we will never get over. But Richie wanted to tell what happened after that incident took place, the investigation that followed," said Shah while speaking to WION.&nbsp;

Calling her director 'benevolent', Shah said that he was clear that he did not want an actress onboard. "Richie was clear that he did not want an actress but a collaborator. He told me that 'I have written from a man's perspective. I need a woman, a voice to bring in the sensitivity.'" The actress said she tried to bring in her own interpretation as to how a female officer would deal with the situation. "We all worked very hard on the script and Rishi is quite open to opinions and suggestion. He is not at all rigid and I respect him a lot as a director."

To prep for her role, she did meet the lady officer on whom her character is based. Calling her inspirational, Shah said that she was kind enough to answer all her queries.&nbsp;

Did she ever get emotional or overwhelmed while filming the show? "I was overwhelmed throughout. I think playing Vertika has been the most emotionally consuming role for me. I get emotionally involved with all my characters but this one more so."

Shah also learned a lot from her character of Vertika. "She is emotional just like me but unlike me, she has to keep it under check. She cannot let her emotions cloud her investigations."&nbsp;

Like most of us, the actress admits that she was extremely angry and emotional when she had first read about the incident but while making the show, she realized there was so much more to the case than just blame-game. "The script came as a surprise to me initially. It gave me a fresh perspective." Shah is quick to add that the show is not indulging in propaganda but presents the case as it was. Aware that the Police was severely criticised for not amping the security in the capital, Shah says, "Preventive security is not possible always. Delhi has a population of a small country. No one can ever fathom that such a thing can happen until it happens."

The show premiered at Sundance Film Festival where it received critical praises. "When we started filming, we did not know which OTT platform would pick it up. It was only after Sundance, that Netflix decided to release it. I think that way, I'd call the entire team very brave to have agreed to do such a project without knowing if it ever will get a release. I guess, we just wanted to tell an important story and rest worked out on its own."

The actress who rose to fame during her stint on Indian TV in the late 1990s and early 2000s, says that OTT platforms like Netflix have a huge reach which helps shows like 'Delhi Crime'. "There is scope for detailing when one is making a series for the web. Besides I can binge watch. I don't have to wait for another week to watch what happens next."

The actress also feels that the present times are far more open to women-centric content. "Be it films or web shows, I think stories with women-protagonists now are thought of more now that earlier."&nbsp;

A Netflix Inc experiment that began with viewers picking a movie character's breakfast cereal may expand to let the audience choose the best on-screen date or the safest path to escape an axe murderer.

The world's largest streaming service wants to try out more interactive entertainment following the response to the science-fiction series&nbsp;"Black Mirror: Bandersnatch," executives told reporters this week.

"Why can't you have a romantic title where you get to choose who she goes out with?" Yellin said. "Or horror titles. Should you walk through that door, or should you dive out that window and get the heck out of there? You can make the choice."

In "Bandersnatch," the first decision viewers could make was whether a character would eat Sugar Puffs or Frosties for breakfast.

The idea was to give audiences a simple choice to encourage them to test the technology, which involved clicking via a remote or tapping on the screen to select an option. The movie kept playing even if the viewer did not choose.

The cereal scene became an Internet sensation when "Bandersnatch" was released last December.

"Like many of you, I got addicted to 'Bandersnatch' and trying to figure out what's the significance of the cereal, and not the cereal, all the different options," Netflix Chief Executive Reed Hastings said.

The film provided feedback about how long people want to engage with interactive programming and how many choices they want to make, Hastings said. After the cereal decision, viewers selected things such as the type of music a character would play or whether they would jump off a building.

When viewers can direct a story, they feel "really with the character," Yellin said. "You are more viscerally feeling what they are feeling. You just made the choice for them."

That is why Yellin wants to try the format in other stories where characters face immense consequences. "Horror is life and death situations constantly," he said. And in romances, "the emotional stakes are high."

Yellin said the effort is in its early stages, and Hastings suggested he does not see interactive entertainment replacing traditional storytelling.

"I don't know if I would do it every day," Hastings said, "but as part of my viewing, it's pretty exciting."

Netflix already has produced a handful of interactive shows for kids, who were immediately receptive to the idea, Yellin said.

"Kids don't have established rules," he said. "They assume that's the way the world should be and they'll try it."

Netflix is set to launch a new live-action interactive show titled ‘You vs. Wild’ starring survival expert Bear Grylls.

The show will have eight episodes as Bear Grylls, who was previously on Discovery Channel’s ‘Man vs. Wild’ will take the viewers on adventures around the world.&nbsp;

On the show, Grylls said in a statement, "I'm so proud to deliver this first-of-its-kind live-action interactive series, really giving viewers an all-access pass to explore the world and its landscapes in my boots."

Each episode will feature interactive experiences with multiple choices. This format was previously experimented by Netflix in another series ‘Black Mirror’ as they included an interactive episode titled ‘Bandersnatch’.&nbsp;

The show will be directed by Ben Simms, and Grylls, Chris Grant, Drew Buckley, Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, Rob Buchta and Delbert Shoopman will co-executive produce. It is produced through Electus and Bear Grylls Ventures.&nbsp;

In a brief statement to The Wrap, the streaming giant confirmed that it has decided to replace the clip. 
 
"Netflix and the filmmakers of 'Bird Box' have decided to replace the clip. We're sorry for any pain caused to the Lac-Megantic community," the statement said. 
 
Netflix had earlier refused to remove the footage from the film after the controversy happened in January. 
 
The Canadian Parliament had also voted unanimously, criticising Netflix and demanding removal of the images from "its fiction catalogue". 
 
The country's lawmakers also asked for compensation for the citizens of Lac-Megantic, Quebec.&nbsp;

They said in a statement that the Nobel Prize winning novelist, who died in 2014, had been reluctant to sell the rights to the books for years "because he believed that it could not be made under the time constraints of a feature film, or that producing it in a language other than Spanish would not do it justice." 
However, given what has been called a new golden age of television "and the acceptance by worldwide audiences of programs in foreign languages, the time could not be better to bring an adaptation to the extraordinary global viewership that Netflix provides." 
 
The announcement follows Netflix`s acclaimed black and white Mexican movie 'Roma,'&nbsp;filmed in Spanish and indigenous Mixtec, which won three Oscars last month.

Hollywood's A-listers will hit the red carpet Sunday for the Oscars -- the climax of a long, eventful awards season that could yield some big surprises.

But civil rights dramedy "Green Book" has overcome controversy to remain on the radar, and could benefit from the Academy's complex preferential voting system to snatch the top prize.

Hot on their heels are a variety of films, from offbeat royal romp "The Favourite" (also with 10 nominations), to Spike Lee's race drama "BlacKkKlansman," to crowd-pleasers like superhero flick "Black Panther" and musical romance "A Star Is Born."

Two biopics -- "Vice" about former US vice president Dick Cheney and "Bohemian Rhapsody" about the band Queen -- round out the list of contenders for best picture.

The 7,900-odd voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had bold choices in front of them -- traditional art-house Oscar bait, and big, rousing blockbusters.

"With eight best picture nominees, every film has passionate supporters, but no film has a consensus," Tim Gray, awards editor for showbiz trade publication Variety, told AFP.

All will be revealed at the Dolby Theatre, in a ceremony beamed around the world to millions of showbiz fans, with a twist -- there will be no host for the first time in three decades.

The Academy opted to take the risk after comedian Kevin Hart withdrew from the gig in the face of a firestorm over past controversial tweets that were slammed as homophobic.

"They still don't have an answer to a question that's been around since the first TV showing in 1953: is this a presentation of every category, or is it entertainment?" Gray said. "They want it to be both."

The entertainment factor will be high when Queen opens the show with singer Adam Lambert fronting the iconic band.

Kosslick added that the controversy needed to be clarified in terms of film policy and not on the backs of artists and filmmakers.

Netflix has stirred unease in the traditional movie industry by encouraging people to watch films at home rather than go to the cinema. Major theatre chains refuse to show Netflix films, and some top directors have balked at making films that will be seen primarily on the small screen.

The 54-year-old actor most recently collaborated with the streaming giant on Susanne Bier-directed post-apocalyptic horror 'Bird Box'.

She will produce the new project, 'Reborn', which will be helmed by Chris McKay.

He has films like 'The Lego Batman Movie' and 'Robot Chicken' to his directing credits.&nbsp;

The movie is based on Mark Millar and Greg Capullo's comic book series of the same name. McKay is adapting the script, the streaming giant said in a press release.

The story follows an elderly woman who dies in a Manhattan hospital only to find herself reborn in the afterlife world of Adystria, where good and evil are waging an eternal war amid dragons. She then sets off on a quest to find her late husband.

The project will also be produced by Roy Lee and Miri Yoon for Vertigo Entertainment, while Millar and Capullo will serve as executive producers. Samantha Nisenboim will be the co-producer.

'Roma': Netflix gets its first best picture Oscar nomination

US stocks rallied on Friday, helping Wall Street's major indexes advance for the fourth consecutive week, as increased hopes the United States and China would resolve their trade dispute lifted shares across sectors.

The market was boosted after a Bloomberg report said China sought to raise its annual goods imports from the United States by a combined value of more than $1 trillion in order to reduce its trade surplus to zero by 2024.

The news followed a report on Thursday that US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was considering lifting some or all tariffs imposed on Chinese imports. A Treasury spokesman denied Mnuchin had made any such recommendation.

A strong rally in January has put the benchmark S&amp;P 500 index on track for its best monthly gain since March 2016. The S&amp;P 500 is now 8.9 per cent below its September 20 record close after dropping 19.8 per cent below that level - near the 20-per cent threshold commonly considered to confirm a bear market - on Christmas Eve.

"It's risk-on again," said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment strategist at Inverness Counsel in New York. "We've gotten an olive branch from China regarding trade. Obviously, there's been a very positive reaction from the market."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 336.25 points, or 1.38 per cent, to 24,706.35, the S&amp;P 500 gained 34.75 points, or 1.32 per cent, to 2,670.71 and the Nasdaq Composite added 72.77 points, or 1.03 per cent, to 7,157.23.

For the week, the Dow rose 2.96 per cent, the S&amp;P 500 gained 2.87 per cent, and the Nasdaq added 2.66 per cent. All three indexes registered their biggest four-week percentage gain since October 2011.

US stock markets will be closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Industrial stocks rose 1.9 per cent, the second-most among the S&amp;P 500's major sectors, while the Philadelphia SE semiconductor index climbed 2.3 per cent. Both groups of shares have been sensitive to trade developments.

Technology stocks were the biggest boost to the S&amp;P 500, rising 1.5 per cent.

Even with the session's gains, relatively light trading volume during the week indicated some investors were still waiting on the sidelines. On Friday, volume on US exchanges was 7.99 billion shares, compared to the 8.44 billion average over the last 20 trading days.

"A lot of people have liquidated their positions coming into earnings so that they can react quickly as earnings come out," said Mark Otto, global market commentator at GTS in New York.

Analysts have lowered their fourth-quarter earnings forecast for S&amp;P 500 companies to 14.2 per cent year-over-year growth from 20.1 per cent estimated on October 1, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.

Shares of Schlumberger NV jumped 8.1 per cent after the oilfield services provider reported quarterly revenue that beat estimates.

Shares of Netflix Inc, however, fell 4.0 per cent after the video-streaming company forecast lower-than-expected revenue for the first quarter.

Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 2.93-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 2.26-to-1 ratio favoured advancers.
