<p>It continued: “The film's dark and, at times, disturbing content dilutes the goodwill for and positive associations with Chooseco' s mark and tarnishes its products.”</p>

<p>Netflix confirmed Tuesday that it removed an episode of a satirical comedy show that criticises Saudi Arabia, after officials in the kingdom reportedly complained.</p>

<p>The move raises new questions about the limits of free online expression.</p>

<p>In the episode of "Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj," the American-born Muslim lashed Saudi Arabia after the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.</p>

<p>He specifically criticised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and was also critical of the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.</p>

<p>"We strongly support artistic freedom worldwide and removed this episode only in Saudi Arabia after we had received a valid legal request - and to comply with local law," a Netflix spokeswoman said in a statement.</p>

<p>British newspaper the Financial Times said Netflix's action came after the kingdom's Communications and Information Technology Commission said the episode violated the cybercrime law.</p>

<p>In December, the US Senate approved two symbolic resolutions blaming Prince Mohammed for the killing of Khashoggi, after intelligence reports pointed in that direction, and urging an end to US participation in the Yemen war.</p>

<p><strong>'Quite outrageous'</strong></p>

<p>Karen Attiah, Khashoggi's editor at The Washington Post, said Netflix's action was "quite outrageous."</p>

<p>The Saudi Information Ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UK parliament's select media committee published more than 200 pages of internal Facebook emails it has acquired while probing how the giant was being used to manipulate major election results.</p>

<p>The emails feature in a case being heard in a California court filed against the giant by the now-defunct US app developer Six4Three.</p>

<p>Committee chair Damian Collins said it was not clear from the private exchanges between Facebook and app developers whether users were aware that their friends list and other private information was being used.</p>

<p>"Facebook has clearly entered into whitelisting agreements with certain companies, which meant that after the platform changes in 2014/15 they maintained full access to friends data," Collins wrote in an accompanying note.</p>

<p>"The idea of linking access to friends data to the financial value of the developers relationship with Facebook is a recurring feature of the documents."</p>

<p>Facebook said in a statement released to AFP that the Six4Three emails "are only part of the story and are presented in a way that is very misleading without additional context".</p>

<p>The social media behemoth launched a public campaign in 2014 aimed at easing user concerns about data breaches.</p>

<p>But the emails suggest that Facebook followed a set policy of selling the information to a select group of major app developers even after the platform changes were fully deployed in 2015.</p>

Simran Sethi, director of international originals for Netflix said, “The scope and scale of Midnight’s Children can only be translated by a creator with an expansive vision, depth of storytelling, and a nuanced knowledge of bringing characters to life."</p>

<p>Simran added, "We couldn’t have imagined anyone other than Vishal Bhardwaj as the showrunner on this series and are honoured that he will steer the project.”</p>

<p>Midnight's Children follows the life of Saleem Sinai, who was born on the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947, coinciding with India's independence. The book follows his life, every act of his, that in a way mirrors and reflects the course of the country's national affairs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On getting this opportunity, Vishal said, “The opportunity to translate one of the greatest works of literature in a medium that is accessible to millions of people around the world is incredible, and I’m delighted to partner with Netflix in bringing Midnight’s Children to life onscreen. <p>Directed by &nbsp;Andy Serkis, the live-action film will be releasing in both English and Hindi versions. Some of the biggest names of Bollywood have lent their voices to the Hindi version. On Sunday night Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor interacted and posed for photos with stars Christian Bale and Frieda Pinto- who feature in the Hollywood version of the film at the premiere of the film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pinto, who plays the part of Messua- Mowgli`s human mother- said that during the South Africa leg of their shoot, Andy had told her to play her part in Hindi too."So for me to go to South Africa and actually work with fellow actors all speaking in Hindi, and all the other things I associate with India came to life with this movie," she further said, while describing her journey with the movie.</p>

<p>Walking down the memory lane, Pinto recalled how one would watch `The Jungle Book` in Hindi every Sunday when it aired on Doordarshan. "There was so much of human life in the village that was captured in that version, and I have not seen that version anywhere else," she added. Pinto even credited Andy for making this film an "ode to India".</p>

It was very important for me to make the film which is very closely linked to Indian culture," Andy said.<br />
The world premiere also saw the unveiling of the Hindi trailer of the much- anticipated movie. &nbsp;The lead of the film, Rohan Chand, also made an appearance.</p>

<p>One of the highlights of the event was Anil Kapoor and Andy Serkis- both of whom are voicing Baloo in their respective languages- mimicking a bear while looking at each other.</p>

<p>The casting for both the English as well as the Hindi version is quite interesting. <p>Deepa Mehta's next is going to be an original series for Netflix titled 'Leila'. Mehta will also serve as the executive producer for the show and she is part of a team of directors- each of them would be directing different episodes in the series which stars actress Huma Qureshi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Deepa Mehta has directed critically acclaimed trilogy `Fire`, `Earth` and `Water` in the past. The team of directors also includes Shanker Raman and Pawan Kumar.</p>

<p>According to the Hollywood Reporter, Urmi Juvekar, whose past credits include 'Oye Lucky! Lucky! Lucky Oye!' and 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy', will serve as 'Leila`s' showrunner.</p>

<p>The NGO alleged that most of the contents available were in violation of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.</p>

<p>It was a good weekend for Marvel’s hit film ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as it picked up two important awards at People’s Choice Awards -- Movie of 2018 and Action Movie of 2018. It's a welcome call for the makers, suggesting that they take up the upcoming film from the franchise with equal fervour -- ‘Avengers 4’.&nbsp;<br />

It was a good weekend for Marvel’s hit film ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as it picked up two important awards at People’s Choice Awards -- Movie of 2018 and Action Movie of 2018.

It was a good weekend for Marvel’s hit film ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as it picked up two important awards at People’s Choice Awards -- Movie of 2018 and Action Movie of 2018. It's a welcome call for the makers, suggesting that they take up the upcoming film from the franchise with equal fervour -- ‘Avengers 4’. ‘Avengers 4’ will release in theatres on May 3, 2019, and is said to be the longest Marvel film ever. Coming back to the awards night, some other interesting names that ended up winning were Scarlett Johansson as she won the Female Movie Star of 2018, Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira won for ‘Black Panther’ in the Male Movie Star of 2018 and Action Movie Star of 2018 categories. ‘Riverdale’ won Drama Show of 2018 and ‘Orange is the New Black’ won Comedy Show of 2018 in the television category. People's Choice Awards 2018: 'Avengers Infinity War', Nicki Minaj, 'Black Panther' win big

<p>Two of the most popular shows on Netflix, Sacred Games and Narcos have been loved by the audience world over. On Sunday, Netflix India got the cast of the two films under the same roof.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an interview with Reuters on Friday, Hastings noted that Netflix had three price tiers in India: 500 rupees ($6.90) for a basic plan, 650 ($9.00) for a standard plan and 800 rupees ($11) for premium. Those prices are only modestly lower than what the company charges in the United States.</p>

<p>But in India, Hastings said, "we see the typical mix across these three plans that we see in many other countries like the US, which would indicate that we don’t have a pricing issue. Because if it was, everyone would be on the lower price plan.”</p>

<p>When asked directly if that meant the company had no plans for lower prices in India, he said: "Correct."</p>

<p>Hastings' comments followed a Singapore event where the company introduced 17 new original productions for Asia, including nine for India. He said local production was a key driver of new subscribers in India and elsewhere, but he declined to provide specific figures on Asia subscriber numbers and growth.</p>

<p>Netflix launched in India two years ago and has won fans among a young, tech-savvy middle class in a country where video consumption of all kinds is soaring. It scored a big hit in July with the release of “Sacred Games”, a hard-boiled thriller built around Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan.</p>

<p>Local industry players, however, say Netflix’s prices will make it hard to compete against domestic competitors like 21st Century Fox-backed Hotstar, Amazon's Prime Video and satellite TV provider Tata Sky.</p>

<p>But Hastings said Netflix could still thrive amid cheaper options.</p>

<p>“Now it is true that Youtube is free, and Amazon is basically free, and cable is extremely inexpensive because it’s ad-supported. To some degree that creates a consumer expectation," he said. But he added that the cost of Netflix in India was "like going to the movie theatre 2-3 tickets a month, but you get to watch a lot more.”</p>

<p>Following Netflix's October earnings announcement, chief product officer Greg Peters said: "We’ll experiment with other pricing models, not only for India, but around the world that will allow us to broaden access by providing a pricing tier that sits below our current lowest tier."</p>

<p>That was widely understood to signal that a low-price plan was coming to India. But Hastings said that was not the case.</p>

<p>"It got misunderstood as a decision that we are going to have lower prices in India, which is not something we are particularly contemplating," he said.</p>

<p>Hastings acknowledged the limitations of the current pricing strategy in a country where per-capita income is a tenth of that in the United States.</p>

<p>“It’s true that if you’re trying to get to a billion households, that probably wouldn’t work," he said. "But if you’re focused on English-language, English-entertainment households, there is a much higher income.”</p>

<p>He called the high-end focus "a practical, realistic" place to start and that the company eventually hoped to target a broader audience.</p>

It was Diwali in India on November 8 this year and the ‘God of Thunder’ as he happened to be in India, dressed up in a classy traditional kurta along with director and Randeep who were all seen smiling for a video posted on Instagram. <p>Rudyard Kipling's famous book 'The Jungle Book' has been adapted on the screen multiple times before. Now OTT platform Netflix is making another version of the cult classic titled 'Mowgli'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film's trailer features incredible child artist Rohan Chand in the titular role and shows Mowgli's journey after he returns to village from the jungle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The live-action film has voiceovers by some very prominent names of Hollywood including Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sher Khan. Frieda Pinto plays Mowgli's human guardian.&nbsp;</p>
