Rajneesh's life is well-documented but not many remember his controversial shift to America to establish Rajneeshpuram, a utopian city for his followers in rural Oregon, other than perhaps it inspired Bollywood star Vinod Khanna to abandon fame for orange robes. 
 
The American chapter, between 1981 to 1985, is now the subject of a six-part Netflix documentary "Wild Wild Country" by Maclain and Chapman Way, who went through 300 hours of archival footage to tell a fascinating story of the Rolls-Royce loving Indian mystic who attracted devotion and suspicion in equal measures. 
 
Viewed as a controversial guru, Rajneesh hailed from Madhya Pradesh and after growing into a good public speaker, he moved to Mumbai in 1970. He initiated followers and expanded his spiritual teachings and four years later, he relocated to Pune. After his ashram in the city was met with strong critique and threats of punitive action, Rajneesh considered to establish a new commune in the US. 
 
The cult was eventually driven out of the US. The city, build on a 64,000-acre ranch, largely spurred distrust among the local community and Rajneeshees' attempt to protect it led to bizarre situations. 
 
The followers were accused of immigration fraud, wiretapping attempts to rig the local election and bioterrorism where they are said to have contaminated the food at local restaurants with Salmonella, making over 700 people sick. 
 
The Way brothers had previously worked on a baseball documentary "The Battered Bastards of Baseball" but when they stumbled upon the never-seen-before archival footage, they realised that they had an interesting story in their hands. 
 
"In 2004, we were given access to 300 hours of archival footage and the archivists told us that the story of Rajneeshpuram was the most 'bizarre story' in the history of Oregon. We started researching and we came across this really complex story about religious rights, immigration issues and different cults in religion," Maclain told PTI in a telephonic interview. 
 
The brothers thought that the story, which they shot with four people in a room, would come and go on Netflix but it has become something of a pop culture sensation. 
 
"The story of Rajneeshpuram has been completely forgotten in America. Even though people internationally had a good grasp of who Osho was, they did not quite know about the American chapter in his life," Chapman said. 
The directors believe the documentary shows a period in America where people from different counter-culture movements found an identity in Rajneesh's movement. 
 
"Bhagwan was perhaps the first guru, who married the eastern concept of mysticism with western capitalism to create this very attractive message for a lot of people. It was about self-love, self-awareness and learning about humanity. It really attracted a lot of highly successful, intelligent people from the East and the West," Maclain said. 
 
"He was able to tap into a very specific period in America where a lot of people were disillusioned with the government and what was happening in the country. It was just after the Vietnam War," he added. 
 
"Wild Wild Country" has been universally praised for its retelling of an almost forgotten but an interesting period in America in a thriller-like format. But some critics believe Rajneesh is more of a shadow than the central figure of the documentary. 
 
"It is not an Osho documentary. He is such a fascinating and complex figure that he deserves his own documentary. Our story takes place at a time when he had taken a vow of silence for four-and-half years, from 1981 to 1985. There was no footage of him teaching or giving a discourse," Chapman said. 
 
Interestingly, when the directors talked to the people who joined the cult, they were never able to "intellectualise" what attracted them to the Rajneesh's teachings. 
 
"It was the strength of longing, the connection of community that they were looking for. So, we were more interested in exploring that," he added. 
 
Another major success for the Way brothers was to connect with important faces of the movement, such as Ma Anand Sheela, who emerges as the central figure in the documentary. 
 
"As we started to digitise the footage, the first character to jump out was Ma Anand Sheela. When Bhagwan took a vow of silence, it created a power vacuum and Sheela kind of started to fill that. I don't know how you tell this story without getting her perspective. The local government had called her 'pure evil'. 
 
"There was naturally a hesitation but she was very hospitable and charming. She gave us a complex interview. She felt she had a story to tell. Sometimes she was reliable, sometimes not," Maclain said. 
 
The directors feel that they have been able to tell a fascinating story of these followers and how they have come to look at this chapter, perhaps the most important one, in their lives. 
 
"We talked to a lot of people from Rajneeshpuram. Some of them still identify themselves with the movement and then there are those who don't consider themselves as 'Sanyasis' anymore and believe they were the part of a destructive cult. 
 
"The biggest takeaway was that followers were thoughtful, intelligent people. They were consenting adults who were looking to do something good in the world. They wanted to transform the society, wanted to build their own Utopia. It was fascinating to see how something that started with such ideas, went down such a destructive path," he said.&nbsp

As it stands, a subscriber to the Netflix or Amazon Prime streaming service in, for example, France, only has access to the service as it is available in the country being visited, where the supply of movies or TV series often drastically differs to the home version.

In another example, digital subscribers to Sky Sports in London are unable to access Premier League football matches on their iPads or laptops when travelling abroad.&nbsp

The EU hopes the measure should prevent users from using illegal broadcast services or virtual networks, known as VPNs, that connect to a service by hiding its true location.&nbsp

Shah Rukh Khan&#39;s Red Chilies&#39; entertainment has collaborated with streaming giant Netflix for an original Indian series.

The series will be a thriller based on a book &quot;Bard of Blood&quot;&nbsp;by Bilaal Siddiqui, and it will be a multilingual series in which characters will be interacting in Hindi, Urdu, English and other languages.

The Netflix original series will delve into the story of Kabir Anand, an expelled spy whose new life as a Shakespeare professor in Panchgani is disrupted when he is recalled to save his country and a long-lost love. The protagonist will be forced to confront his deadliest foes in a race against time.

CEO and Netflix founder, Reed Hastings, founder of Red Chillies entertainment, Shah Rukh Khan together announced the series in a video tweeted by Netflix India.

The allegations about Spacey also come as the entertainment world is reckoning with the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal.Many women have accused him of sexual harassment and police are investigating the assault claims. Weinstein has apologized for his behavior, but he denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex.

Eight people, who currently work on the show or have worked on it in the past, have said that Kevin Spacey made the set of Netflix`s House of Cards into a "toxic" work environment through a pattern of sexual harassment. A former production assistant in the crew has told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him during one of the show`s early seasons.The eight people have described Spacey`s behaviour as "predatory," saying it included nonconsensual touching and crude comments and targetted production staffers who were typically young and male. These accusations follow an article published less than a week ago, in which actor Anthony Rapp said Spacey made sexual advances toward him in 1985 when Rapp was 14 years old. Following this, on Monday, Spacey released an apology in response to Rapp`s account."I honestly do not remember the encounter; it would have been over 30 years ago," Spacey said."But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years." Production of the show`s Season 6 was shut down this week.CNN reports that the former production assistant said Spacey sexually assaulted him one afternoon when the assistant was assigned to drive to an offsite location to pick up Spacey and bring him to the House of Cards set, which is located about 30 miles outside of Baltimore. When he and Spacey were just minutes away from the set and while the car was moving, Spacey, who was driving, put his hands down the production assistant`s pants. The production assistant told CNN that the touching was nonconsensual.The production assistant did not report the incident to any managers of the series or the police, but he did tell a co-worker at the time. CNN has spoken to the coworker to corroborate the production assistant`s story. The other people who worked on House of Cards with whom CNN spoke all supported the idea that the set could be toxic for young men because of Spacey.MRC, the production company behind "House of Cards," told CNN in a separate statement that they have implemented "an anonymous complaint hotline, crisis counsellors, and sexual harassment legal advisors for the crew." "We are deeply troubled to learn about these new allegations that are being made to the press concerning Kevin Spacey`s interaction with members of the crew of House of Cards. As the producer of the show, creating and maintaining a safe working environment for our cast and crew has always been our top priority. We have consistently reinforced the importance of employees reporting any incident without fear of retaliation and we have investigated and taken appropriate actions following any complaints. For example, during our first year of production in 2012, someone on the crew shared a complaint about a specific remark and gesture made by Kevin Spacey. Immediate action was taken following our review of the situation and we are confident the issue was resolved promptly to the satisfaction of all involved. Mr. Spacey willingly participated in a training process and since that time MRC has not been made aware of any other complaints involving Mr. Spacey," CNN quoted the MRC statement. The allegations about Spacey also come as the entertainment world is reckoning with the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal.Many women have accused him of sexual harassment and police are investigating the assault claims. Weinstein has apologized for his behavior, but he denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex.

Spacey said in a Twitter post on Sunday that he was &quot;beyond horrified&quot; to learn of Rapp&#39;s account of Spacey&#39;s alleged seduction attempt, which Spacey said he did not recall. Spacey further wrote that he owed Rapp a &quot;sincere apology&quot; for what he said would have been &quot;deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour.&quot;

A representative for Spacey did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Rapp, now 46, recounted attending a party hosted by Spacey in which the older actor picked him up, brought him to a bed and lay down on top of him after other guests had left.

According to Rapp, the young actor had the impression Spacey was drunk, pushed him away and left.

Spacey, who has won Oscars for the films &quot;The Usual Suspects&quot; and &quot;American Beauty,&quot; also said that Rapp&#39;s story &quot;had encouraged me to address other things in my life.&quot;

&quot;In my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I now choose to live life as a gay man,&quot; Spacey wrote.

The story in first two seasons follows the story of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar,&nbsp;who became a billionaire through the production and distribution of cocaine, while also showing the struggle between Escobar and his various opposition entities. The second season, however, ended with the death of Pablo Escobar, leaving fans in a disarray.&nbsp;

The third season picks up the story from there and according to reviews is far better than its previous one.&nbsp;

While Apple has not revealed any plans publicly, a report that the iPhone maker could spend a billion dollars on its own shows suggested more disruption for a sector seeing rapid changes.

The move by deep-pocketed Apple would challenge entrenched services such as Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime, which have been increasingly challenging the established media-entertainment world of Hollywood.

Apple declined to comment on a Wall Street journal report on its billion-dollar budget for new content.

Analysts consider original, exclusive content imperative for fielding a viable video streaming service, something that Apple has yet to do despite being early to market with an Apple TV set-top box linked to the internet. 
&quot;If Apple wants to stay relevant they have to go into the subscription streaming space, and that means original content,&quot; said Jackdaw Research chief analyst Jan Dawson.

Analyst Paul Verna at eMarketer said video fits nicely into Apple&#39;s business strategy: &quot;Content is a vital missing link that could help Apple complete a powerful ecosystem of programming, devices and services,&quot; he said.

Global streaming television king Netflix is expected to spend about $7 billion this year on content, with slightly less than half of that money going to making its shows it can distribute how and where it wishes.

Netflix said in a statement the deal was part of the company&#39;s effort &quot;to work directly with prolific and skilled creators and to acquire intellectual property and ownership of stories featuring compelling characters and timeless, interwoven fictional worlds.&quot;

Netflix describes itself as the world&#39;s leading internet television network, with 104 million members in more than 190 countries.

During a recent quarterly earnings call, Amazon executives once again vowed to ramp spending on original shows this year as the internet giant chases after Netflix with is Prime service.

While Amazon doesn&#39;t reveal exact figures, its budget for shows is said to be in the billions of dollars.

Google continues to make a priority of content for YouTube, which features a subscription service along with free shared video posts.

Facebook too is rolling out a new video service offering professionally produced shows in a challenge to rivals such as YouTube, and potentially to streaming providers like Netflix.

The Facebook service called Watch will include a range of shows, from reality to comedy to live sports. Facebook has funded some of the creators to get the service going.

These moves comes as viewers in the US and other markets increasingly turn to on-demand internet platforms instead of &quot;linear&quot; television.

Hollywood powerhouse Walt Disney&nbsp;this month announced plans to launch a &quot;multi-sport&quot; streaming service under its ESPN brand in early 2018 and a Disney branded direct-to-consumer service in 2019. 
HBO and CBS also have standalone streaming options.

Entering a market late and succeeding would be nothing new for Apple, Dawson said while discussing unconfirmed talk of the company investing in original shows.
