Artemis is named after the goddess who in Greek mythology was Apollo's twin sister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The space agency has posted the image on its Instagram account.</p>

<p>The image shows a splendid play of colours. The aurora is mainly green in colour, but assumes a pink-red hue at its reaches away from the Earth.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The vibrant displays of light around Earth's North and South Poles are caused by the interaction of solar particles, ejected by the Sun, and our planet's protective magnetic field," NASA's Instagram post of the image describes.</p>

<p>During large solar storms, the post continues, "the Sun spews large bubbles of electrified gas which collide with our magnetic field at its North and South Poles and enter our atmosphere ... these energized solar particles collide with atmospheric gases resulting in beautiful displays of light."</p>

<p>At the time of publishing of this story, the image has got more than 1 million likes on Instagram.</p>

<p>The pictures, which were recently taken above the 322-foot-tall (98-meter) SLS megarocket at Launch Complex 39B and the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, were posted on Twitter by astronauts Andrew Morgan, Reid Wiseman, and Christina Birch.</p>

<p>For more than 50 years, NASA has utilised Northrop T-38 Talon jets as training and pursuit aircraft. The twin-seat trainer can travel faster than most commercial aircraft—up to Mach 1.6 supersonic—and up to 40,000 feet in height.</p>

<p>"The T-38 is a great aircraft for what we need at NASA because it's fast, it's high-performance and it's very simple," retired NASA astronaut and former International Space Station Commander Terry Virts said in a NASA statement in 2011. "It's safe and it's known. So compared to other airplanes, it's definitely one of the best."</p>

<p>NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft departed Earth over 45 years ago on a mission to the outer planets and beyond. Even now, the adventure is still going on. On August 20, 1977, Voyager 2, the first of two spacecraft involved in the mission, was launched. It took use of a unique planetary alignment to use one planet's gravity to drive itself to another. Voyager 2 continued the Voyager mission's exploration of Uranus and Neptune whereas the original Voyager mission was limited to Jupiter and Saturn. On September 5 of the same year, Voyager 1 was launched into space.</p>

<p>The two spacecraft are equipped with cutting-edge tools for the in-depth study of distant worlds. Both of them are still sending data as they leave the solar system and enter interstellar space.&nbsp;</p>

NASA's massive US moon rocket emerges for debut launch

<p>Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have shot down a US military drone, news agencies have reported citing US officials. Houthi rebels in the past have shot down American drones, but the latest incident has taken place just when the situation in the Middle East is tense due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Houthi rebels have claimed that the American MQ-9 Reaper drone war spying as part of the USA's help to Israel in the ongoing war, reported AFP.</p>

<p>Accusing Russia of prosecuting an unprovoked imperial-style war of aggression against Ukraine, the West hit the Russian economy with sanctions designed to starve Moscow of technology and funds.</p>

<p>In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin called his attack on Ukraine a "special military operation" to denazify its neighbour.</p>

<p>Meteorologists have called the rare and intense flooding that hit California's Death Valley a ''once-in-1,000-year event''.</p>

<p>According to the National Park Service (NPS), the flood in the famously parched park had left thousands of people stranded and bogged down 60 cars under mounds of debris.</p>

<p>Experts at NASA’s Earth Observatory said that the storm poured an amount of water equal to roughly 75 per cent of the average annual total in just three hours.</p>

<p>With a 0.1 per cent likelihood during a given year, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Las Vegas called Daniel Berc described the deluge as a historic “1,000-year event”.</p>

<p>Almost tying the previous daily record of 1.47 inches, a total of 1.46 inches (3.7 centimetres) of rain fell in the park's Furnace Creek area.</p>

<p>“With climate change models predicting more frequent and more intense storms, this is a place where you can see climate change in action,” park superintendent Mike Reynolds told news agency AFP.</p>

<p>Some regions will experience increasingly intense and frequent rainfall even if the world manages to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius according to UN climate experts.</p>

<p>The James Webb Space telescope has been grabbing headlines for the brilliant pictures that it has taken of the universe. The images, taken with the help of the infrared pictures on the telescope, has provided a brilliant set of data for scientists to decode a number of mysteries. However, its predecessor – Hubble Space Telescope – has come up with the latest picture to stun the experts.</p>

<p>NASA and ESA, the agencies which manage Hubble, released a picture of a star cluster which was named globular cluster NGC 6638. NASA said that it belonged to the constellation Sagittarius.</p>

<p>While Hubble does not possess the same quality of cameras as that on the James Webb telescope, the Wide Field Camera 3 and the Advanced Camera for Surveys were able to capture the image.</p>

<p>The cluster contained of millions of stars and although the image quality was quite advanced, it was not possible to understand individual bodies. Due to the proximity of Hubble to the cluster, the image did not get as distorted as the ones that are taken by telescopes from the earth’s surface.</p>

<p>The cluster has become quite popular among the researchers since its discovery, and it has added to the number of new celestial bodies that the Hubble Telescope has captured in the recent past.</p>

<p>In a statement released by University of Toronto, Lamiya Mowla, the lead author on the paper, said that the Hubble has brought about a “renaissance in the study" in how the researchers study the galaxies. He also said that the 3D-DASH system has also improved its wide-area imaging.</p>

<p>Peering through time and huge amounts of dust, the Webb telescope has a far greater reach in comparison to the Hubble telescope which had previously captured images of the rare ring galaxy.</p>

<p>During a spectacular head-on collision between two galaxies, the Cartwheel, which is located around 500 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Sculptor, gained its shape.</p>

<p>As per a joint statement by NASA and the ESA, the impact sent two rings expanding from the galaxy's centre.</p>

<p>But now NASA, the space agency which has multiple rovers on the red planet and an orbitter around it has released some images in which clear blue streaks are visible on the planet's surface. The image has been captured by Mars Reconnaissance Orbitter (MRO) so it has captured an area on the martian surface that spans hundreds of metres. Each pixel in this image is equal to 25 feet on martian surface.</p>

<p>The blue streaks on the martian surface are a beautiful sight. The martian region visible in these images is called Gamboa Crater. It is located in the northern hemisphere of the planet.</p>

<p>So why is the red planet so blue?</p>

<p>The answer lies in the way this image was processed. This is what is called a 'false colour'. The blue region is actually as red as the planet is but has been coloured blue due to slight variations in the frequency of the reflected light. The region is NOT actually blue.</p>

<p>So is it just a way to make an image more beautiful and nothing else? No.</p>

<p>The regions streaked in blue colour indicate presence of geologic structures. When an analyst studies this image it will be helpful for him or her to quickly know where are these geologic structures located. This may help us to understand martian geology in greater detail.</p>

<p>NASA has decided to send two more helicopters to Mars following the success of their initial mission. The mission, which NASA is conducting along with the European Space Agency, is aimed at bringing back rocks from Mars to further the study into the red planet. The rocks, which were brought back in the initial mission, are currently being studied with help of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. “We have a path forward using a revised and innovative architecture,” Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s science directorate, told the media.</p>

<p>According to New York Times, the “Marscopter” – a helicopter designed similar to Ingenuity – will be used in the upcoming mission along with NASA’s Perseverance rover to Mars.</p>

<p>Initially, the mission was supposed to use a rover built by ESA to collect the rocks and bring them back to the rocket. However, due to space constraints, they have decided to use the helicopter which will enable them to transport the samples better and without adding more weight.</p>

<p>The Perseverance remains the first choice for the mission, but the helicopters will provide more support, according to the NYT report. The trip back to space will most likely take place in 2033.</p>
