<p>Shaw was out for dinner with his friend in February 2023 when he was approached by an influencer named Sapna Gill and her friend Shobhit Thakur for a selfie.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At first, the Indian opener agreed but when he was interrupted again&nbsp;for more pictures, he asked the group which had gathered around to leave&nbsp;and complained to the manager of a five-star hotel in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gill and Thakur allegedly started abusing and assaulting Shaw who could be seen rattled in the pictures and videos that went viral on social media. The Indian cricketer's car was also attacked using a baseball bat.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The source also told TOI that on the recent Nicaragua-bound flight, there were passengers who could not make it to Nicaragua previously. As per CNBC, in recent times, Nicaragua has emerged as a popular destination for those seeking asylum in the US.</p>

<p>Jagdish Patel, his wife Vaishali, and their children Dharmik and Vihangi, as per a Times of India report, were told to walk in -35&nbsp;°C temperature to evade arrest by the Canadian or US Security agencies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per TOI, it was found that the victim Jagdish's brother Mahendra, along with Reddy, had coordinated the family's illegal entry into the US with human smugglers.</p>

<p>"Reddy had prepared the documents of Jagdish and his family and coordinated with offshore human smugglers to help them cross the US border." Along with Reddy, three other people were arrested in the case.</p>

<p>The Mumbai Police, in collaboration with the Anti-Human Trafficking cell, has launched an investigation into the chartered plane that was grounded at a French airport on December 21.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mumbai Police special IGP, IPS officer Deepak Pandey has asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials, who had reportedly interrogated the passengers on their arrival back to the country, to submit detailed reports to city police within 24 hours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Tuesday (Dec 27), 25 Indian passengers from the plane who had stayed back, were freed by a judge, who ordered their release on formal grounds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per prosecutors, this was done considering that the head of the border police at France's main Charles de Gaulle airport "had not referred the case" to the judge within the timeframe stipulated by law.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Among the passengers who stayed in France were five minors, who have now been taken into the care of child welfare services.</p>

<h2><strong>Indian authorities intensify probe&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>While the French authorities have seemingly dropped the human trafficking angle, the Indian government is continuing its probe. According to an official at the home ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity, the registration of the chartered flight and “people operating this entire nexus” had been identified.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, passengers of the chartered plane had arrived in UAE at different times and each of them had legal tourist visas for entering Dubai. However, they all congregated at the same place and left for Nicaragua together before the flight was cut short in France.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As most of the returned passengers are from Punjab and Gujarat, the authorities in the respective states have also launched their own investigation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Currently, the fulcrum of the investigation remains unearthing who facilitated the travel of 303 Indians.&nbsp;<br />
Before their release from the Indian airports, the passengers were questioned by immigration and law enforcement agencies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The initial interrogations have revealed that some agents (touts) had fixed a deal with the majority of them, charging anywhere between Rs 40 lakh ($48,000) to Rs 1.5 crore ($180,000) to send them illegally to America.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this week, two touts were arrested by the Gujarat&nbsp;Crime Investigation Department (CID) which is expected to reveal the entire operation of the syndicate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“They used to forge bank statements and other documents to help people secure visas and obtain passports,” a CID official told <em>Hindustan Times.</em></p>

Currently, the fulcrum of the investigation remains unearthing who facilitated the travel of 303 Indians. Before their release from the Indian airports, the passengers were questioned by immigration and law enforcement agencies. The initial interrogations have revealed that some agents (touts) had fixed a deal with the majority of them, charging anywhere between Rs 40 lakh ($48,000) to Rs 1.5 crore ($180,000) to send them illegally to America. Earlier this week, two touts were arrested by the Gujarat Crime Investigation Department (CID) which is expected to reveal the entire operation of the syndicate. “They used to forge bank statements and other documents to help people secure visas and obtain passports,” a CID official told Hindustan Times. Mumbai police receive call about RDX-laden tanker going from city to Goa with two Pak nationals

<p>If there is one social media handle that’s always on top of trends, it’s of the Mumbai Police. The department knows exactly how to garner attention and spread its message through its own spin on various things. This time, it was Spider-Man that caught the Mumbai Police’s interest. The movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in India on June 1 and from their latest post, it seems that Mumbai Police are a fan of the masked superhero.</p>

<p>Mumbai Police dropped a clip from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that pointed out how having too many riders on two-wheelers can be dangerous. The video showed Marvel comics villain Spot, talking to what appears to be a family of four commuting in one bike. Spot addresses the commuters and says, “That’s very dangerous”.</p>

<p>Mumbai Police shared the video with the caption, "No matter which multi-verse you are in, safety is always the canon." At the end of the clip, they included a pun that read, "Sp(r)ider safety".</p>

<p>The post was a hit, just like most things concerning Spider-Man are on the internet. The official account of Sony Pictures wrote, “And that's how you put rule breakers on the Spot.”</p>

<p>Some praised the dedication of the Mumbai Police to use unique ways to spread awareness. “The admin is on the next level,” a comment read.</p>

<p>One commented, “Wow multiverse”.</p>

<p>Some accused the police officers of giving away spoilers by revealing the scene. One person wrote, “Spoilers! Not fun.”</p>

<p>Many people also reprimanded the Mumbai police for obtaining the tape from the movie, which is currently playing in theatres, through illegal means. “Mumbai police is also using a pirated video clip of the movie and they say pirated movies download is crime,” a person commented.</p>

<p>Some defended the action of the police department using the clip from Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse. “For everyone who is commenting about media piracy, they have literally given Video Credits to Sony Pictures (it’s in the bottom left corner). In fact, Sony Pictures have themselves commented under this post as well,” an individual explained.</p>

The movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in India on June 1 and from their latest post, it seems that Mumbai Police are a fan of the masked superhero. Mumbai Police dropped a clip from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that pointed out how having too many riders on two-wheelers can be dangerous. The video showed Marvel comics villain Spot, talking to what appears to be a family of four commuting in one bike. Spot addresses the commuters and says, “That’s very dangerous”. Mumbai Police shared the video with the caption, "No matter which multi-verse you are in, safety is always the canon." At the end of the clip, they included a pun that read, "Sp(r)ider safety". The post was a hit, just like most things concerning Spider-Man are on the internet. The official account of Sony Pictures wrote, “And that's how you put rule breakers on the Spot.” Some praised the dedication of the Mumbai Police to use unique ways to spread awareness. “The admin is on the next level,” a comment read. One commented, “Wow multiverse”. Some accused the police officers of giving away spoilers by revealing the scene. One person wrote, “Spoilers! Not fun.” Many people also reprimanded the Mumbai police for obtaining the tape from the movie, which is currently playing in theatres, through illegal means. “Mumbai police is also using a pirated video clip of the movie and they say pirated movies download is crime,” a person commented. Some defended the action of the police department using the clip from Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse. “For everyone who is commenting about media piracy, they have literally given Video Credits to Sony Pictures (it’s in the bottom left corner). <p>Hours after Amitabh Bachchan took a stranger's help to get to his work location on a bike, Anushka Sharma was seen travelling with her bodyguard on a motorcycle, both obviously wanted to ditch Mumbai's traffic jam. Netizens were quick to point out that the two stars were not wearing helmets and were flouting traffic rules. Many even tagged Mumbai Police on the two viral posts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the reports, a tree fell in Juhu and blocked the road which the actress wanted to take. To ensure that she reaches her shoot location on time, Anushka sat behind her bodyguard on a bike and left her car behind.</p>

<p>The actress was seen dressed in a checkered crop shirt and beige flared pants. She paired her casual OOTD with a cool pair of shades.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Big B shared the incident on Instagram along with a picture and an appreciation&nbsp;note for the stranger who helped him reach his destination on time. In the caption, he wrote, "Thank you for the ride buddy .. don’t know you .. but you obliged and got me on time to location of work .. faster and in avoidance of the unsolvable traffic jams .. thank you capped, shorts and yellowed T-shirt owner."</p>

Mumbai Police react to Anushka Sharma, Amitabh Bachchan’s bike rides without helmets

<p>Maharashtra government on Friday (May 12) dropped all charges against Param Bir Singh, former commissioner of police, Mumbai. These charges were brought against him during the departmental enquiry initiated against him by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government which ruled the state before the current dispensation headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.</p>

<p>In spite of dropping of charges, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will continue to probe five cases registered against Singh. The retired officer of Indian Police Service (IPS) faces multiple cases of extortion, corruption and misconduct.</p>

<p>Param Bir Singh was Police Commissioner when journalist and anchor Arnab Goswami was arrested by Mumbai Police.</p>

<p>Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said the government decided to revoke Singh's suspension order following the Central Administrative Tribunal's (CAT) decision to close the departmental inquiry against him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Fadnavis added that CAT order deemed the departmental inquiry wrongful. The order revoking Singh's suspension and withdrawing all charges against him related to the departmental enquiry initiated in 2021 were issued by the state home department on Wednesday (May 10).</p>

<p>According to the order, the period of the former IPS officer's suspension should be treated as if he was on duty. At least four cases of extortion were registered against Singh in Mumbai and adjoining Thane.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During his decades-long police career, Param Bir Singh served as commissioner of both, Mumbai and Thane.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was transferred from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner in March 2021 after Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The arrest was made in connection with seizure of explosives-laden SUV from near business tycoon Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After this, Param Bir Singh wrote an explosive letter to the then chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray. In the letter, Singh alleged that then home minister Anil Deshmukh had asked police officers to collect Rs 100 crore (more than USD 12 million) per month from hotels in Mumbai. Deshmukh had denied the allegations.</p>

<p>Five or more people cannot gather around courts, government offices or local bodies performing semi-government or government functions. The police won't allow any kind of large gatherings for educational activities of colleges, schools or other institutions or any general business.</p>

<p>People have been prohibited from carrying swords, firearms or any other weapons. The orders of Mumbai police will be brought into effect from December 4 to January 2. Mumbai Police imposes Section 144 till January 2 to ensure public order

<p>The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has received Look Out Circulars (LOCs) against 56 Chinese nationals for fraudulently becoming directors of Indian companies, some of which turned out to be shell companies.</p>

<p>Since April this year, at least 39 cheating and forgery cases have been registered. The FIRs are registered based on the complaints lodged by the Registrar of Companies, Mumbai. According to the EOW probe, dozens of Chartered Accountants (CAs) and Company Secretaries (CSs) have been named who allegedly have helped the accused foreigners. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The incident came to light when a 45-year-old woman, who works as domestic help, told the police that she lost her bag of jewellery when she was on her way to mortgage her gold to pay off a loan that was taken for her daughter’s wedding.</p>

<p>According to the victim, Sundari Planibel, the incident took place at Goregaon's Gokuldham Colony. After seeing children collecting scraps, she gave food wrapped in the same bag that had her&nbsp;gold.</p>

<p>It was only when she reached the bank that she realised her mistake, following which Planibel tried looking for the children in the same area, but couldn't find them.</p>

<p>The 45-year-old woman then approached the police who, with help of local residents, managed to trace the children whom the woman gave her bag.</p>

<p>The children told the police that they threw the bag at a garbage dump as they found the food to be too dry. However, the police couldn’t spot the jewellery on the spot.</p>

<p>The cops then checked CCTV footage which showed a few rats taking the bag of gold from the garbage dump to a gutter, sub-inspector SI C Gharge told ANI news agency.</p>

<p>The police then pried open the grill over the sewer and found the bag, with all the jewellery inside it. It was returned to the complainant on Thursday morning.</p>

"Jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had issued the letter to Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan. Three people from his gang had come from Jalore, Rajasthan to Mumbai to drop the letter and had met accused Saurabh Mahakal," said the police on Thursday.<br />

The police further said that the crime branch has identified the people who had delivered the letter.&nbsp;"There are clues related to them. They will be arrested soon. Right after their identification, 6 teams have been dispatched to different parts of India," said the police.<br />

The police asked Kamble about who kept the threatening letter on a bench in the Bandra area of Mumbai on Sunday, he said. Some media reports also claim that a member of the gang had once come close to the actor during his early morning cycle ride around the neighbourhood. <p>The Bombay High Court on Tuesday said the Mumbai police, probing instances of fake vaccination camps against COVID-19 in the city, must identify the "big fish" in such cases and should not spare them.</p>

<p>A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni also directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to inform the court about steps that the civic body proposed to take to check those duped by such camps for antibodies and any adverse effects on their health because of the fake vaccine.</p>

<p>The court was hearing a bunch of public interest litigations (PILs) on increasing the accessibility of citizens to the vaccination drives against COVID-19. The state's counsel, advocate Deepak Thakare, told the HC that seven FIRs had been registered and 13 people arrested in the case. He said the probe into the case is still going on.</p>

<p>The BMC's counsel, senior advocate Anil Sakhare, told the court that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for private COVID-19 vaccination camps for housing societies and offices will be finalised by Wednesday.</p>

<p>The HC then said advocate Thakare must tell the investigating officers in the case not to spare anyone found to be involved in the "scam". "There might be big fish yet to be identified. They must be identified and should not be spared. Tell the police the investigation must be proper and no one should be left out," the court said.</p>

<p>It further said the BMC must inform the court of the steps it was planning to take to test the victims. The court asked why the BMC and state authorities were so far unable to determine what the victims were administered in the name of anti-COVID-19 vaccine.</p>

<p>"This appears to be a state failure. Why doesn't the corporation think of testing? What are you thinking of doing for the unfortunate people, you must tell us on Thursday," the HC said. The state and the BMC had earlier told the high court that a total of 2,053 people across the city fell victim to the fake vaccination camps. The HC will continue hearing the PILs on July 1.</p>

Mumbai Police has now asked the cyber cell to investigate and register cases under the Information Technology Act. The Police commisioner stated that the fake accounts were created to malign the image of the department and demoralise the force while it was probing the case.<br />

AIIMS has ruled out murder angle in the actor's death case. The Mumbai police commissioner said, “We had investigated this case very professionally. The CBI had created a panel of AIIMS doctors who have justified our investigation and the findings of Cooper hospital and forensic laboratory. <p>A&nbsp;27-year-old man was saved through joint efforts of Facebook, Delhi police and Mumbai police on Saturday night with the help of technology.</p>

<p>An Ireland-based Facebook employee spotted various pictures and videos on this man's profile that hinted towards a possibility of suicidal thoughts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Facebook staffer reacted quickly and wittingly to these red flags and contacted&nbsp;Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Anyesh Roy as the victim, whose name has not been revealed, had his contact number registered to a Delhi network.</p>

<p>The Delhi Police traced the number under the command of&nbsp;Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh and reached to the listed address, only to find out the resident of the property, the unnamed man's wife, to be safe on Saturday night.</p>

<p>However, the woman informed the police that the Facebook account was handled by her husband who had left for Mumbai few days ago, after a fight, to work as a Chef in a small hotel.</p>

<p>Roy contacted his Mumbai counterpart&nbsp;DCP (Cyber) Rashmi Karandikar, who started a search mission for the man, with nothing but just his phone number.</p>

<p>Karandikar was able to locate and save the man around 1:30 am, after asking his mother to video call him, which didn't connect. His location was traced after he called back his mother through another phone number.</p>

<p>"The man then contacted his mother through another number and that's how we traced his location. For an hour, one of my officers kept him engaged on phone call and tried to convince him to not take any an extreme step," the senior Mumbai police officer said.</p>

<p>The man claimed he was under huge financial burden and was unable to provide for his family, especially his newly-born child.</p>
