<p>Voting in the five states took place between November 7- November 30. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on December 3.</p>

<h2><strong>Madhya Pradesh exit polls</strong></h2>

<p>Jan Ki Baat exit poll has predicted that BJP will bag between 100&nbsp;and 123 seats while the Congress is likely to register a victory on 102 to 125 seats.</p>

<p>Republic TV-Matrize predicted 118-130 for the BJP and said that Congress would likely get 97 to 107 seats.</p>

<p>TV9 Bharatvarsh Polstrat&nbsp;predicted that BJP will bag between 106-116 seats while Congress would score 111 to 121.</p>

<p>Today's Chanakya predicted a major victory for the BJP. The exit poll said that BJP may get 151 seats (error margin of 12 seats) while Congress would lag behind at 74 (error margin of 12 seats).</p>

<p>The exit poll by Jist-TIF-NAI said that Congress will command a 2018-like lead with 107-124 seats and the BJP would bag between 102-119 seats.</p>

<h2><strong>Rajasthan exit polls</strong></h2>

<p>India Today-Axis My India forecast a tight race in Rajasthan. It predicted that Congress will get between 86 and 106 seats while the BJP will bag 80-100 seats. Other parties and candidates would get between 9 to 18 seats.</p>

<p>Jan Ki Baat predicted that BJP will get 100-122 leaving Congress behind in the range of 62-85. According to TV9&nbsp;Bharatvarsh Polstrat, the BJP will get 100 to 110 seats while Congress would get 90-100 seats.</p>

<p>ABP News-C Voter predicted that BJP would get 36-48 seats while the Congress would get 41-53. According to the forecast by India Today-Axis My India, BJP will get 36-46 seats and Congress will get 40-50 seats.</p>

<p>The incident took place on Thursday night (August 17) at around 11:00 pm (local time) after the accused, identified as Rajpal Singh Rajawat, who works as a security guard at a bank, opened fire on eight people – killing two and injuring six – after his dog started barking at their neighbour’s dog, said the police.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Rajpal Singh Rajawat posted as a security guard at a local branch of Bank of Baroda, opened fire with his licensed gun in a colony located under Khajrana police station limits following an argument over pet dogs,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Amrendra Singh, as quoted by news agency PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The altercation took place in the city’s Krishna Bagh Colony when Rajawat took his dog for a walk and his dog started barking at the neighbour’s pet dog, said Singh. “This triggered an argument between Rajawat and Amcha’s family,” he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The argument escalated when Rajawat went to his house, brought his gun, and fired two rounds in the air from the terrace. Subsequently, he opened fire on the people standing in the street below, said the official.</p>

<p>According to the police, two people – Rahul Verma, 28 and his brother-in-law Vimal Amcha, 35, were killed. Meanwhile, those injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital, said Singh. Jyoti, the pregnant wife of deceased Rahul Verma, was among those injured. All six injured are out of danger, said the police.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police officer said the security guard fired at least three rounds and that they were scanning the footage recorded by the CCTV cameras in the area. The police have also recovered a double-barrel 12-bore gun, its licence, cartridge cases and some live bullets from the accused.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Who&nbsp;was arrested?</strong></h2>

<p>So far, three people have been arrested. According to the local police station officer-in-charge Umrao Singh, the accused Rajawat (45), his son Sudhir (19) and nephew Shubham (28) were arrested after the incident.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Locals in a state of shock</strong></h2>

<p>The incident has left the residents of Krishna Bagh Colony in shock. Pallavi Borse, who lives opposite to Amcha’s house told PTI, “Two pet dogs from our lane, including the one owned by Rajawat, started fighting with each other.”</p>

<p>She added, “During their fight, when they started entering Amcha’s house, his brother Pramod chased Rajawat’s dog away with a stick. Soon a heated argument broke out between the two parties over it.”</p>

<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>The alleged incident took place in the state’s Datia district where four people have been accused of gang-raping a 19-year-old and sexually assaulting her 17-year-old sister. The rape survivor, later, tried to commit suicide by hanging herself but was rescued and taken to the hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the police, the alleged gang rape and sexual assault took place on Friday afternoon when the two sisters were returning home from school. The accused, reportedly, forcefully took them in a car to the house of another accused.&nbsp;The four men then allegedly gang-raped&nbsp;the woman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The two survivors were returning from school on Friday afternoon when three accused threatened them and took them to the house of BJP leader Ramkishore Yadav,” said the Superintendent of Police (Datia), Pradeep Sharma, on Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, “The four accused raped the woman in front of her minor sister. They also sexually harassed the girl. The accused threatened the survivors with dire consequences if they informed anyone about the assault, and let them leave.”</p>

<p>When the two survivors reached home, the woman tried to kill herself but was rescued by family members who then approached the police, said Sharma, quoting the complaint filed by the 19-year-old’s younger sister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the police, the woman is undergoing treatment at the Jhansi Medical College in the neighbouring Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and her condition is stable.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>About those accused</strong></h2>

<p>So far, three of those accused (one adult and two minors), including the politician’s son, have been arrested. The police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 ($122) for finding the fourth accused, who is reported to be on the run.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police have identified Dhruv Rai, son of BJP’s Unnao mandal president Kishan Rai, as the prime suspect, based on the First Information Report (FIR) registered in the case. The three accused have been reported to be his friends.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Incident sparks protest</strong></h2>

<p>The alleged incident also sparked a large protest after family members and locals of the survivors were reportedly seen outside the police station demanding action against the people who have been arrested.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The survivor’s brother also accused the police of not registering the complaint “for hours” and alleged that it was only after they protested that officials took action.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>BJP’s reaction to the accusations</strong></h2>

<p>In a statement, on Sunday, BJP’s Datia district unit president Surendra Budholia called the incident unfortunate and said the police were yet to record the victim’s statement. If the victim names the BJP office-bearer’s son&nbsp;in her police statement, the party will serve a notice to him and take further action, reported PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Cheetah's death due to natural occurrence in animals, says Forest Minister</strong></h2>

<p>Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister Vijay Shah earlier today released a statement saying that the recent death of a&nbsp;cheetah in the state was due to a natural occurrence in animals.</p>

<p>"I have spoken to the authorities as well and this is a natural occurrence in animals.&nbsp;A team of experts, including foreign experts, is monitoring each cheetah," said Shah.</p>

<p>On Monday, another cheetah named Tejas, which was brought to Madhya Pradesh, died due to wounds.</p>

<p>As per an official statement, the monitoring team saw the injury marks on the upper part of the neck of male cheetah Tejas at around 11 am.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Wildlife doctors went to the spot and inspected Tejas Cheetah and prima facie found the wounds serious. After obtaining permission to treat Tejas, the team of doctors left for Maukar with preparations,” it said.</p>

<p>Tejas was found dead at the spot around 2 pm. The wounds sustained by the cheetah are now being investigated. It further said that the cause of the death can be ascertained after the post-mortem.</p>

<p>PM Narendra Modi, in an effort to revive the extinct species in India, had last year released eight cheetahs (5 females and 3 males) brought from Namibia in the Kuno National Park on the occasion of his birthday on September 17.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another 12 cheetahs were brought from South Africa in February this year.</p>

Former CM Kamal Nath claims cheetahs dying because of BJP, says 'neither women nor animals safe in MP'

<p>A viral video showing a man from India’s central Madhya Pradesh state urinating on a tribal worker has sparked outrage across the nation, with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan promising to punish the accused.</p>

<p>The clip, shared on the microblogging site Twitter, purportedly showed a man, allegedly a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pravesh Shukla, urinating on a worker from the indigenous community.</p>

<p>It is being further alleged that Shukla is an associate of BJP Member of the Legislative Assembly from Sidhi, Kedar Nath Shukla. However, the lawmaker has refuted such reports.</p>

<p>&nbsp;“A viral video of Sidhi district has come to my notice... I have instructed the administration to arrest the culprit and take strict action and also impose NSA," CM Chouhan tweeted in Hindi.</p>

<p>Following the incident, the police booked Shukla under Sections 294 (obscene acts), 504 (Intentional insult) of the Indian Penal Code and other provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, local media reported.</p>

<p>It is being further said that the police might impose the stringent National Security Act against Shukla in the case.</p>

<p>The recent posters feature a QR code with CM Chouhan's face on it, with an image of a PhonePe-like interface, and text which read in Hindi: "50% laao, PhonePe kaam karao (loosely translated in English as pay 50% commission to get your work done)".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The images and videos of these posters pasted on walls and other objects were shared by the state unit of the Congress on its Twitter handle. According to local reports, the posters emerged in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Sehore, Rewa, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Bhind, Balaghat, Budhni, which is the Assembly seat represented by the chief minister.&nbsp;</p>

The state is currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which formed the government after a rebellion within the previous government formed by the Congress. Both parties are keen go grab power in the state and a poster-war targetting top leaders of the two parties is now becoming subject of discussion in the state.</p>

<p>Some days ago, posters featuring Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan's face were seen pasted in several cities of the state. The posters featured a QR code-like image and had words "50% lao, Kam Karao' (Pay 50 per cent, get your work done). The slogan apparently alleged that in order to get your work done from Shivraj Singh government, a hefty bribe needed to be paid.</p>

<p>The ruling BJP has accused Congress of putting up these posters. Congress denies this.</p>

<p>The police have registered an FIR over the poster and a case has been registered against unknown people under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).</p>

<p>The poster war has since intensified and Kamal Nath, top Congress leader and former chief minister of the state has found himself targetted.</p>

<p>Soon, the residents in the city found new posters, this time targetting Shivraj Singh Chauhan.</p>

<p>"Shivraj nahi, Ghotala raj" roughly meaning 'It's not (of) Shivraj but a regime of scams'</p>

<p>The posters reportedly mentioned allegations of scams including uniform scam,&nbsp;Vyapam scam, uniform scam, e-tendering scam which allegedly took place during Chauhan's tenure.</p>

<h2><strong>No need for certificate from BJP</strong></h2>

<p>Reacting on the posters with words 'wanted corruption Nath', former state CM Kamal Nath said, "No one can humiliate me and there is no case of corruption against me, everyone knows this...Today they don't have anything to say against me so they are doing this. I don't need any certificate from BJP because the people are witnesses."</p>

<p>He was quoted by news agency ANI.</p>

<p>Reacting to the matter, the media adviser of the Congress party, Piyush Babele tweeted, "By putting up objectionable posters of Nath, the BJP has shown that it can go to any low level in the politics. The attempt to tarnish the image of the person, who has served Madhya Pradesh for the last 44 years, is an attack on the pride of Madhya Pradesh. It is an insult to Madhya Pradesh. This is an insult to the service to the state. This is an insult to the goal of making a golden Madhya Pradesh. This is an insult to those crores of people in whose heart Nath resides."</p>

<p>Addressing workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the election-bound Madhya Pradesh state’s Bhopal city, Modi said that it was high time that serious discussions begin around the topic.</p>

<p>He also singled out the opposition parties who supported the outlawed triple talaq practice—which allowed a Muslim man to divorce his wife in minutes just by saying "talaq" (divorce) three times—while making a fervent pitch for UCC.</p>

<p>“Today people are being instigated in the name of UCC. How can the country run on two (laws)? The Constitution also talks of equal rights...Supreme Court has also asked to implement UCC. These (opposition) people are playing vote bank politics,” he said.</p>

<p>"I feel we should study this subject. I feel those who support triple talaq are doing vote bank politics of appeasement,” Modi said, setting the tone for the upcoming elections in the state and the impending general elections in 2024.</p>

<p>“They are doing injustice to our Muslim daughters. Triple talaq does not only affect Muslim daughters. Imagine the situation of the family who marries off their daughter and she comes back after 10 years. Triple talaq damages the entire family," Modi added.</p>

<p>He said, "Tomar and two of his relatives were detained on Saturday and their confessions were recorded. They were picked up on the complaint of Radheshyam's father Lakhan Tomar. State Disaster Response Force personnel and a diver have been deployed for the past two days to retrieve the bodies."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The SRDF team and the diver have not been able to find the bodies so far. We are also trying to check various running water sites," the official further added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Media reports mentioned that after allegedly killing his daughter and getting rid of the bodies, Rajpal lodged a missing complaint at the Ambah police station. Meanwhile, Radheshyam's family had also lodged a similar complaint at the same police station.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lakhan Tomar told reporters that accused Rajpal had threatened&nbsp;Radheshyam and asked him to send his son away from the village or face the consequences around five days before he went missing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lakhan alleged, "But the police only registered a missing person complaint claiming the two had eloped."&nbsp;</p>

<p>As quoted by media reports, sub-divisional officer police (SDOP) in Morena district, Parmal Singh Mehra said, "Sustained probe and questioning of both families, finally saw the girl's father Rajpal Singh Tomar spill the beans about having murdered Shivani and Radheyshyam, after catching them together. Both bodies were subsequently dumped in the Chambal River."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Residents in the vicinity of the river said retrieving the bodies may be difficult as there are crocodiles and gharials in the waterbody. Chambal River, a tributary of the Yamuna, originates in MP and flows through Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Sunil, he was informed by a woman living nearby that his wife keeps talking to her husband after he leaves for work. The situation escalated further when Sunil returned home one day and caught his wife, Bhawna, again talking to the other man.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Frustrated by this, Sunil snatched Bhawna's phone. This made the wife livid, although she refrained from retaliating initially.</p>
