Anthony was convinced by the pace displayed by a young Kuldeep and after hearing his financial situation, he waived off his training fees and took care of her diet and even got him a proper kit.

“When he first came to us, he had a good height, and he was able to bowl fast. It is difficult to understand someone’s strength at the age of around 12-13 years and as a result, we asked him to concentrate more on his bowling”, the former Madhya Pradesh U-19 fast bowler told WION.

While the pace was always there, Kuldeep’s game was not without his flaws. He ended up chucking the ball while looking to exert himself and it was ultimately rectified by a smart plan from Anthony.

“He was fond of bowling bouncers, but he ended up chucking sometimes. I did not allow him to go to any trials because of that reason and we kept working on his action till it got better,” he said.

With a better action and solid local pedigree, Kuldeep made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2018. It was a great season for him as he ended up taking 25 wickets in 8 matches and since then, he has featured quite regularly on the domestic circuit. However, IPL was still a distant dream and that was finally achieved in 2022 as RR picked him up for the base price of Rs 2 million.

The debut was everything that the young fast bowler could have hoped for and more. He started proceedings with a 146.3 kmph screamer to Lucknow opener Quinton de Kock and with 15 runs to defend in the final over, he was entrusted with the duty to clinch the game for his side. During a probe, the police found that the accused, who were arrested from Bhind town in India’s central Madhya Pradesh state, sold marijuana through the e-commerce service.

It has been claimed that 1,000 kg of marijuana, worth roughly $148,000 (around 10 million Indian rupees) was sold through the online platform, so far.

Explaining their modus operandi, police said the accused —Bijendra Singh Tomar and Suraj Paviaya—were smuggling cannabis, tagged as ‘curry leaves’, from southern Andhra Pradesh state and delivering it through the e-commerce service to other cities like Bhopal, Gwalior, Kota and Agra.

Following the arrest, the Amazon officials were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, for providing contradictory answers and documents in response to the police questions.

Madhya Pradesh police had earlier issued a 20-point notice to Amazon as part of their investigation into the alleged smuggling of marijuana.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra&nbsp;called&nbsp;the online delivery of drugs a matter of "great concern".

“There are no guidelines for online businesses. We'll make guidelines for the state. Amazon was called but they're not cooperating. We will bring them. I appeal to Amazon's MD-CEO to cooperate or else we'll initiate action,” he said.

At least four infants died in a government-run hospital in Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Monday night (November 8). The Kamla Nehru Children's Hospital is in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh. The fire broke out in the special newborn care uniy (SNCU) of the hospital.

India's apex child rights body National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognisance of the tragedy and has sought constitution of an inquiry team comprising senior officials to look into the deaths.

NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo asked the Madhya Pradesh chief secretary to constitute the inquiry team

The NCPCR said the team must comprise a senior administrative officer but not from the health department or medical education department of Madhya Pradesh to inquire into lapses in available equipments and facilities in special newborn care units, director general, fire services, civil defence and home guard department (from fire services) to inquire into lapses in available fire prevention mechanism, fire exit, provision of detection, alarm and fire extinguishers.

The team must also include a senior officer from Public Works Department (with background of civil engineering) to inquire into lapses in infrastructure and layout and a senior police officer not below the rank of Inspector General, it said.

The Commission also sought to know the number of children affected due to the fire incident and details of hospitals where infants have been shifted.

"Further, it may kindly be ensured that infants shifted in other hospitals have SNCUs and are provided with all the necessary treatment. The families of the deceased infants may kindly be provided with adequate compensation," the NCPCR said.

It sought a preliminary action taken report within three days.

The NCPCR also asked states and union territories to conduct fire safety audits in all hospitals, medical colleges, nursing homes having medical facilities for children.

Earlier this year, at least 10 newborns died in a fire at a government hospital in Maharashtra's Bhandara.

Quoting these incidents, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanongoo asked all states to carry out fire audits.

"To prevent recurrence of fire incidents in hospitals, NCPCR recommends that fire safety audits should be undertaken in all hospitals/medical colleges/nursing homes having Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Special Newborn Care Units and other medical facilities for children," the NCPCR said.

"Further, it may be ensured that such medical facilities meant for children should get 'no objection certificate' (NOC) from fire department and get renewal only after they meet the given criteria," it added.

Referring to development of the region, Scindia said Chouhan sanctioned schemes worth Rs 110 crore for development of Gohad (a constituency in Bhind district), but Kamal Nath, during his tenure as chief minister, always complained about shortage of funds."

"After 15 years, when the Congress government was formed in the state (in 2018), out of the 34 seats in the Gwalior-Chambal region, 26 were won by the Congress. The contribution of this region (in Congress victory) was immense," he said.

But in 15 months (of the Congress rule), everyone has watched what has happened. We have no greed for chair or power, but it was a question of justice, pride and development," Scindia said, apparently referring to his decision to quit the Congress.

"The coming bypolls will decide the future of Madhya Pradesh. Whether people want 'bada-chota bhai' or trimurti of Chouhan, Tomar and himself.

"Those who remain with people during their good and bad days or those indulging in corruption and exchange of money, Scindia said.

Praising Chouhan for his leadership skills, he said It is not an easy task to remain chief minister for 13 long years. It is possible only when you actually have made a place for yourself in the hearts of people."

The Congress should have drawn a bigger line than the BJP after coming to power, it drew a big line but that of corruption and unfulfilled promises, Scindia alleged.

"What`s shocking is that none of them were provided their reports regarding COVID-19 and all reporting was done after deaths. This means that it was too late when they reached hospital and they died in less time," she added.

Rachna informed the media that the government converted super-speciality Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC) for gas victims, and turned it into a medical facility for COVID-19 patients, which has caused increased problems for the victims.

Explaining how they deduced the 13 deaths were of gas tragedy victims, she said, "We have interacted with the families of all of them. We tried to find out few things - if they were gas tragedy victims, then we found their IDs and other related documents; second we found out their age and what problems they were suffering from."

Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Friday accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Kamal Nath -- which he had submitted a few hours earlier in the wake of the political unrest in the state.

The chaos were precipitated by the sudden resignation of veteran Indian National Congress (INC) leader Jyotiraditya Scindia from the party post. Following the resignation, 16 MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia also put in their papers, forcing the party to bump out of majority in the state assembly.

The resignations have now brought down the strength of the ruling Congress to 92. And Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now has more number of seats in the assembly.

The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly now awaits a floor test for the election of the new government -- something that might not happen at all.

Speaker Prajapati has said there was no need for a floor-test as Chief Minister Kamal Nath had already tendered his resignation.

The Congress-led by Kamal Nath came into power in 2018 with 114 MLAs -- and the support of seven individual MLAs from BSP, SP and Independents.

The resignations have brought BJP into majority with 106 seats (majority is marked at 104). Even if Narayan Tripathi doesn't vote in favour of BJP, the party's strength will still be 105.

Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya Scindia called Kamal Nath's resignation "victory of people of Madhya Pradesh."

But Kamal Nath had blamed horse trading and BJP's money power behind the change of power.

"Twenty-two of our MLAs were held captive in Bengaluru. This was politics spending crores of rupees," Nath said at a press briefing before tendering his resignation.&nbsp;

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday issued a whip to all its MLAs asking them to be present in the assembly for the floor test scheduled for March 16.

BJP delegation meets MP Governor, requests floor test

A case has been registered against 30 unidentified persons on Saturday for showing black flags to BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and trying to stop his convoy while he was on his way to Bhopal Airport.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan had alleged that there was an attempt to attack Scindia and demanded an investigation into the incident.

"Law and order has totally collapsed in the state. There was an attempt to attack him by stopping his car and throwing stones at it," said Chouhan.

Former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s resignation from the Congress Party should not be seen in isolation. It is a result of a massive power struggle within the Congress Party.&nbsp;

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is trying to make a comeback and reasserting himself in the organization. It would be foolhardy to think that Scindia left the Congress because he was denied a Rajya Sabha seat.&nbsp;

The controversy over nomination was an immediate factor for his exit but the real issue remains the tussle within the Congress Party for the top job.&nbsp;

Rahul Gandhi expected every senior leader whom he made the minister in UPA-2 to resign and create grounds swell for him after his resignation.&nbsp;

The expected popular upsurge never happened in the party. Those who resigned did so for personal reasons. Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned because he understood that Congress has no future in Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was appointed General Secretary Incharge of Uttar Pradesh (west), where Congress party lost all the seats.&nbsp;

In Lok Sabha polls, Scindia also lost the party bastion of Guna in Madhya Pradesh to Bharatiya Janata Party's Krishna Pal Yadav.

Many other leaders like Sachin Pilot and Milind Deora also fell out with&nbsp;Rahul Gandhi.

A lot of second-line leaders felt that the party should organise an election for the president’s position and Congress Working Committee. They did not realise that Rahul Gandhi took it as a personal betrayal. This led to the collapse of communication between Scindia and Gandhi, which left him with no choice but to make his own way out of the party.&nbsp;

Despite public abdication, Rahul’s role has remained all-pervasive within the Congress as Sonia Gandhi is holding the baton for him.&nbsp;

So, Scindia’s exit is the starting point and not the endpoint of crisis within the Congress Party.&nbsp;

The telltale signs were visible to all, except the Congress leadership which was either unable to read the writing on the wall or lived in a denial mode. Prising out the wicket of Jyotiraditya Scindia is a major victory for the country’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as he was one of the very few leaders within the Congress party who could swing things in the party’s favour as seen during the last elections in Madhya Pradesh about 15 months ago. Scindia had played a key role in snatching the win from the BJP which had a 15-year uninterrupted run in the crucial state.

If Scindia has walked out on the Congress, the blame squarely lies with the party which mysteriously failed to accommodate him, who was a close confidante of Rahul Gandhi, in a manner which was due to him. He had high hopes that the party could reward him with the chief ministership of the state, which ultimately went to Kamal Nath who commanded the support of a larger number of elected legislators in comparison to about two dozen MLAs who were rooting for Scindia. Though a temporary truce was brought about by Rahul Gandhi after days of intense deliberations, Scindia felt sidelined as he was neither given the presidentship of the state unit of the party nor a berth in Rajya Sabha.

The Congress has not only lost Scindia, but there are chances the party losing out the state to the BJP as well. It remains to be seen how many of the 22 Congress legislators who resigned return to the party as not all of them seem to happy with Scindia’s decision to join the BJP. But as things stand today, it is unlikely that the Congress will be able to weather the storm. After netting Scindia, it will not be that difficult for the BJP to catch some small fish who were not part of the Kamal Nath cabinet to switch sides after the fall of the government.

Even though some of the 22 Congress legislators decide to return to the party fold, the strength of the house will get significantly reduced giving an edge to the BJP which has 107 MLAs. The Congress had seven more MLAs than the BJP besides the support of two MLAs of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and one MLA of Samajwadi Party before the revolt. So, all eyes will be on the rebel Congress MLAs and more importantly the role of the Speaker. The BJP would like the rebel Congress MLAs to tender their resignation to the Speaker first so as to bring down the Kamal Nath government to escape the Anti-Defection Law. 
 
Once the Congress loses power in the truncated assembly following the acceptance of the resignation of the rebel party legislators by the Speaker, the BJP can move fast to stake its claim as it would have the magic number to form the government. The rebel Congress MLAs can be accommodated by the BJP later when they would be allowed to contest fresh elections in bypolls that would have to be held in a few months from now. In any case, it would be naïve to think that BJP strategists would have been eyeing only the disgruntled Scindia.

There is an urgent need of retrospection for the Congress if it fancies any chances of revival, which at present looks very gloomy. In the past, Congress has lost several leaders who went on to chart their independent course after coming out of their parent party and are doing well as regional leaders. And the BJP has been successfully tapping on the performers of the Congress who were denied their rightful due. In the recent memory, one such sulking leader was Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam who not only plotted the fall of the Congress but helped the BJP to come to power in the state as well as several other states in the North-east. &nbsp;

In Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Congress has lost a performer, an orator and above all a charismatic leader who could steer the ship of the party which is sinking rapidly.

Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on former party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia for quitting the party saying that he doesn't deserve respect.

Congress' prominent youth leader Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the party on Tuesday and appeared set to join the BJP amid a rebellion in Madhya Pradesh by his supporters, pushing the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government to the brink of collapse.

Staying one step ahead of the state unit, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Sevadal tweeted that Scindia wasn't worthy of the respect he got from the party. The Sevadal also called him a greedy politician.

19 Congress MLAs, including six state ministers from Madhya Pradesh, who were believed to be the&nbsp;supporters of Jyotiraditya Scindia, have tendered their resignation from the Assembly on Tuesday.

Earlier, Scindia handed his resignation to Congress&nbsp;party's interim President Sonia Gandhi.

Scindia, who had served the Congress for 18 years, resigned from the party on Tuesday, stating that he is ''looking for a fresh start and "it is time to move on".

Scindia's resignation came after Congress MLAs, considered loyal to him, indicated on Monday that they may pull out from the Kamal Nath-led government.

In a late-night Cabinet meeting, around 20 Cabinet ministers in Madhya Pradesh tendered their resignation to Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The Chief Minister has accepted their resignations and is likely to reconstitute the cabinet.

Earlier, several Congress leaders, including Digvijaya Singh, had accused the BJP of horse-trading and conspiring to bring down the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh.

Congress has been witnessing an internal turf war in Madhya Pradesh since the party formed a government in the state.
