"I remember the moment I found out that women's boxing was being introduced into the Olympics in 2012 in London. I made it my goal then, that I wanted to go to the Rio Olympics in 2016," Parker added. "It has been just such a massive part of my life, the Olympics, I've always been so obsessed about it. It makes me so sad to think that kids that have the same dream are going to have it shattered for them."

Australia have the largest boxing contingent at the Paris Games with 12 boxers, and Garside said it was key for them to make the most of their opportunities and continue the growth of the sport in the country ahead of the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane.

According to Los Angeles police, 34-year-old Danielle Cherakiyah was posting on X as the recording artist with the moniker “Ayoka” and an astrology influencer, days before the killing.&nbsp;

She posted on April 4,&nbsp;“Get your protection on and your heart in the right place," on X. "The world is very obviously changing right now and if you ever needed to pick a side, the time to do right in your life is now. Stay strong you got this.”

Then&nbsp;on April 5, she wrote&nbsp;in all caps, “Wake up wake up the apocalypse is here. Everyone who has ears listen. Your time to choose what you believe is now.”

Several conspiracy theories, such as those about vaccines, and posts about the end of the world can also be seen on her social media.

The woman committed the act of stabbing her partner and throwing her kids hours before the eclipse reached its totality in Southern California, said Lt Guy Golan.

Even though&nbsp;Johnson's posts&nbsp;have been reviewed by the detectives, the police have denied the possibility that the eclipse acted&nbsp;as a contributing or precipitating factor to the killings. "We just don’t know why she did what she did,” said Golan, while speaking to The Associated Press on Wednesday (April 10).

“We’ve taken all the facts we can, but without being able to interview her and without having something more tangible than a post on X, I don’t know how much weight you can give to somebody (saying) there’s an apocalypse and attribute it to one of the most horrific murders we’ve had in LA,” said Golan, who is leading the homicide unit investigating the case.

According to the authorities, Johnson and her 29-year-old partner Jaelen, Allen Chaney, had an argument late on Monday after which she stabbed him and fled away with the kids in a Porsche Cayenne.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Wednesday (April 3) along with Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who was representing Fairfax, visited the home declaring it a “public health emergency.”

Earlier in February, in a similar occurrence,&nbsp;a mudslide&nbsp;in the Beverly Crest neighbourhood of Los Angeles left&nbsp;several cars buried in mud.

Since the beginning of the year, downtown LA has experienced nearly double its average rainfall—totalling almost 16 inches (40.64 cm) by early February. The heightened rainfall has led to a number of mudslides and structural concerns, prompting authorities to red-tag 16 buildings as unsafe and yellow-tagging over 30 others, restricting access to them.

While the immediate threat has been addressed, there remains a possibility of additional rainfall over the weekend, as forecasted by the National Weather Service.

Officials are currently assessing the risk to other homes in the neighbourhood, and evaluating the potential for further landslides.&nbsp;

In conversation with KTLA5 News, fire department captain Cody Weireter emphasised the importance of monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of residents.

"Obviously, the risk is there … We’re at a static situation where it’s not really moving at this point," he said.

Los Angeles police launched a hunt for a serial killer suspected of shooting and killing three homeless people in different parts of the city over the week, a spokesperson announced Friday (Dec 1).

As the search was on, officials urged homeless people in the city to avoid sleeping alone and seek shelter at a safe place.

Police Chief Michel Moore earlier informed that the unidentified shooter was suspected of shooting the victims while they were asleep in the early morning hours.

"We're bringing additional investigators from specialised posts and we have placed our forensic science division on ready so that any forensic evidence that is gathered is also quickly processed and analysed in an effort to identify the person we believe responsible for these three homicides," he said.

<h2>All three incidents connected</h2>

The LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) investigators earlier said they had gathered forensic evidence which suggested that all three incidents were linked and highly likely carried out by one person.

It was not clear whether the person acted alone or had a gang working with him.

Investigators are now hunting for surveillance footage from around the crime sites.

The LAPD has described the suspect as a man who was seen in a dark-coloured sedan.

Dak Prescott rushed for one touchdown and threw another as the Dallas Cowboys bounced back from their thrashing against San Francisco to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-17 on Monday (Oct 16). Dallas quarterback Prescott was given a torrid time by the Chargers defence, sacked five times as Los Angeles chased only their third win of the season.

But after a muffed punt allowed the Chargers to tie the game at 17-17 in the fourth quarter, Prescott kept his composure to lead Dallas on a 15-play, 54-yard drive to set up a winning field goal for Brandon Aubrey with just over two minutes remaining.

The drive included a crucial third and nine conversion by Prescott that kept the chains moving to leave Aubrey in field goal range.

Aubrey, a 28-year-old rookie who gave up a promising soccer career to pursue a career in the NFL, stepped up to slot what turned out to be the winning points -- his 16th successful field goal from 16 attempts this season. The Chargers had one last drive in an attempt to save the game, but with no timeouts remaining, quarterback Justin Herbert had little margin for error.

The Chargers drive fizzled however when Herbert was sacked on second down and then saw a long third down completion attempt picked off by Dallas defender Stephon Gilmore to effectively end the game.

Dallas, billed as potential Super Bowl contenders at the start of the season, had been humbled 42-10 by San Francisco last week.&nbsp;

However, the Cowboys will now return to Texas with a 4-2 record in the NFC East heading into a bye week.

"We were physical, way more physical than we were last week -- but hell, that's the past," Prescott said.&nbsp;"Right now we're moving forward and this was a great one for us to get going into the bye week."

Earlier, the Chargers had taken the lead through Keenan Allen's close-range touchdown in the first quarter before Prescott got the Cowboys back on level terms with an 18-yard rush into the end zone.

Aubrey kicked a field goal to put Dallas 10-7 up at the break but Cameron Dicker slotted a 43-yard effort to level for the Chargers at 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brandin Cooks collected a two-yard pass from Prescott to put Dallas 17-10 ahead but then the Chargers were thrown a lifeline after a bungled punt set up a game-tying score for Gerald Everett.&nbsp;

Hopes of a Chargers comeback were snuffed out though after Aubrey's second field goal put Dallas ahead before Herbert's late interception ended the game.

Singer Kelly Clarkson is leaving the life of glitz and glamour in Los Angeles and moving to the Big Apple. The singer has taken the decision to have a fresh start in New York two years after she divorced Brandon Blackstock.&nbsp; 
 
"I’ll be real honest: I thought I was making a horrible decision," Clarkson, 41, admitted to USA Today. "I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in LA."

The Kelly Clarkson Show host confessed what state she was considering moving to before she packed her bags for New York.

"I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.'"

The Grammy-winning singer relocated her daytime show for its fifth season to the East Coast, as her studio is located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

"At this point, I’m 40 years old. Mama rented something nice!" Clarkson remarked. "I was like, ‘I’m not living here unless it’s right by the park and really nice for the kids.’"

Clarkson shares two kids with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The former couple married in 2013, and she filed for divorce in 2020 after seven years of marriage.&nbsp;

The singer stated that her divorce was part of the reason she decided to flee Los Angeles. She added that she’s the happiest she’s been in a long time with her divorce behind her.&nbsp;

"… full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times because I was struggling a lot in my personal life," Clarkson shared with USA Today. "I've learned a lot about what I'm capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying 'bye' to 'The Voice' and having this big move. I love that family, but I was like, 'I'm struggling. I can't smile anymore. I don't feel like smiling.’"
