<p>A pickup truck driver came out alive after spending an astonishing five days trapped at the bottom of a treacherous 100-foot ravine in Southern California. The rescue operation was conducted in Kern County, situated approximately 170 kilometres&nbsp;to the north of Los Angeles.&nbsp;</p>

The impact was severe, rendering the driver immobilised amidst the rugged terrain of Kern County's Tehachapi Mountains. Located between the towns of Arvin and Stallion Springs, this remote area became the setting for an awe-inspiring tale of survival.</p>

<p>On the morning of September 2, a passerby made a startling discovery. He spotted the badly damaged pickup truck nestled at the base of the sheer ravine. The Kern County Fire Department received the alert just before 11 am, sparking a chain of events that would lead to an incredible rescue mission.</p>

<p>They promptly notified the museum's director of security, expressing their concerns about the man's actions. Museum officials were unaware of the extent of his access or the duration of his stay, indicating the potential for repeated incidents.</p>

<p>The win ended Leon's long wait to taste success in the CONCACAF region's premier club competition after finishing runners-up in the 1993 tournament in its old format. Talking to BBC, he explained that educators read from a book that highlighted families from different cultures, including those with same-sex parents. Lira emphasized that the purpose of the event was to demonstrate love, respect, and unity, characterising the protesting parents as "trying to bully us."</p>

<p>The boycott of the school's Pride event on June 2 as per BBC, was organized online over the preceding two weeks by an anonymous Instagram account with the username @saticoyelementaryparents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This account urged parents to keep their children home from school on that day.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the opposite side of the street, counter-protesters waved Pride and transgender flags, declaring their celebration of Pride through a bullhorn and via signs like "Hate has no home here."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Opponents of the Pride event, however, argued that teaching children about LGBT issues was inappropriate and asserted that schools should obtain parental consent before discussing such matters in the classroom.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The attackers, approximately 10 males on bicycles from 15 to 18 years of age, then ruthlessly kicked and stomped the defenceless man on the floor, who desperately covered his head in an attempt to shield himself from the onslaught. Bystanders tried to help the man by breaking off the assault.</p>

<h2>The reason</h2>

<p>The argument started when the bicyclists accused the man of hitting one of their bikes. A verbal argument quickly escalated into a brutal physical assault on the pickup driver.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A witness who spoke with KTLA 5 said that it began when the driver allegedly collided with one of the bicycles. He further added that “that’s when they were able to catch up to him, banging on his windows, banging on his truck, and then he pulled over and jumped out, and he got beaten. It was horrible."</p>

<p>The owners of Star Garden and the union finalised a settlement on Tuesday which will permit the dancers to continue ahead with a union vote, and help the club in re-opening.<br />

In a statement, Star Garden's attorney An Ruda said, “Star Garden is committed to negotiating in good faith with Actor’s Equity a first-of-its-kind collective bargaining agreement which is fair to all parties.”<br />

“Star Garden decided to settle, as it has always been a fair and equal opportunity employer, that respects the rights of its employees,” Ruda added.</p>

<h2><strong>Who is Eric Garcetti? New US ambassador to India&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Eric Michael Garcetti was designated as the US ambassador to India in March 15, 2023. He previously served as Los Angeles' 42nd mayor from 2013 to 2022. He was elected as a member of the Democratic Party in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017. Garcetti, a former member of the Los Angeles City Council, was President of the Council from 2006 to 2012. He was the city's first elected Jewish mayor and its second Mexican-American mayor in a row. He was 42 at the time of his inauguration, making him the youngest mayor in over 100 years.</p>

<p>During the Black Lives Matter protests that followed the death of George Floyd, he was rebuked by both the Left and the Right for attempting to find a middle ground between the "defund the police" calls. Corruption allegations at the City Council cast even more doubt on his track record.</p>

<p>However, the biggest setback for him came in the form of sexual misconduct allegations against an aide, whom Garcetti was accused of not acting against.</p>

<h2><strong>What was the Rick Jacobs sexual scandal?</strong></h2>

<p>Matthew Garza, a police officer and Garcetti's bodyguard, filed a lawsuit against Rick Jacobs, a key aide to Garcetti, in 2020. Jacobs allegedly touched Garza inappropriately and made "crude sexual remarks," according to Garza.<br />

Jacobs then resigned from his position. Garcetti has repeatedly stated that he is unaware of the alleged misconduct. His opponents, on the other hand, have claimed that he either knew about the allegations or did nothing about them, or that he was unaware of what was going on in his team.</p>

The incident transpired on Saturday when Delta Flight 1714 was preparing for takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Seattle, according to the local authorities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Los Angeles Airport Police in its report stated that an unidentified passenger wearing a striped sweater and black pants rushed to the flight attendant as the plane was pushing towards the runway. Taking a brief halt, the passenger asked the flight attendant, "what do I do now?"</p>

<p>When told to go back and sit on the seat, the passenger ran from the attendant and went straight to the plane's emergency exit doors. Before any of the attendants could stop him, the passenger opened the emergency gate by turning the latch, activating the plane's emergency slide in the process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The plane was immediately stopped by the pilots as the man jumped onto the back of a baggage cart.&nbsp;The Delta staff initially nabbed the passenger before handing him over to the LAX Police.</p>

<p>According to reports the passenger has&nbsp;been taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation while the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was notified about the accident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Airport Police responded and detained the passenger for further investigation. Due to the circumstances, FBI was notified," LAX Police was quoted as saying by Fox News.&nbsp;</p>

Brady said that authorities were informed at around 7 pm that a friend had transported a fifth victim to the hospital.</p>

<p>“We have some in critical condition, some stable and some serious,” Brady said. Suspects apparently fled the area in a car. No one had been arrested as of Saturday night.</p>

<p>Police said that they think two guys approached the gathering of people at the beach before an incident broke out. However, they fled the area. The LAPD said that bullets struck all five victims. According to authorities, one victim was in critical condition, while four of the wounded were in stable condition. All five are seeking medical attention in a nearby hospital. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Janice Hahn, Los Angeles County Supervisor organised the gun buyback event in Wilmington in coordination with the police.</p>

<p>In a Twitter post on Saturday, Hahn wrote, "Councilman Tim McOsker and I have been informed of a shooting at Royal Palms beach in San Pedro. We were told 4 people had been shot and the victims were being transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unclear. I am heading there now to assess the situation."</p>

<p>The winter storm, which is expected to weaken, is among the strongest which have&nbsp;hit the state. Trees have been toppled by relentless winds and power lines downed.</p>

<p>The authorities stated that all the beaches remained closed on Saturday for several hours because of lightning strikes in LA County. Reports also surfaced of flights being grounded in the region.</p>

<p>The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the latest bulletin around 20:00 GMT on Saturday (12:00 local time) in which it issued a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rains over Southern California.</p>

<p>"As the front moves inland, snow will move over the Northern Intermountain Region and into Northern California on Sunday morning," stated the NWS.</p>

<p>Till now, no casualties or injuries have been reported due to the storm. Earlier, Los Angeles, a city which is known for its sun-kissed boulevards and palm trees, received snowfall.</p>
