<p>Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi took the centre stage and gave a breathtaking performance during the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022, held at the Lusail Stadium. Along with several background dancers, she was joined by Balqees, Rahma Riad, and Manal, who originally sang the world cup anthem 'Light The Sky' with her.</p>

<p>Clad in a shiny embellished dress featuring adorned with frills, the 'Pepeta' singer crooned the anthem in both Hindi and English languages. To complete her look of the day, she paired her gorgeous LBD with long lace stockings and matching shoes.</p>

Nora Fatehi impresses fans with scintillating dance performance at FIFA World Cup 2022 final | Video

<p>Celebrities and rights groups called on Iran on Sunday to free actor Taraneh Alidoosti, one of the most prominent figures yet arrested in its three-month crackdown on protests.</p>

<p>Alidoosti, 38, was arrested on Saturday, official media said, after making a string of social media posts supporting the protest movement -- including removing her headscarf and condemning the execution of protesters.</p>

<p>The unrest was sparked by the September 16 death in custody of Mahsa Amini, 22, whom the morality police accused of violating the Islamic republic's strict dress code for women.</p>

<p>Iran blames the United States and other "enemies" for trying to destabilise the country by fuelling the demonstrations.</p>

<p>Several prominent figures -- including other actors and footballers -- have been detained in connection with the protests.</p>

<p>Alidoosti has considerable international renown, performing in award-winning films by director Asghar Farhadi, including the Oscar-winning 2016 film 'The Salesman'.</p>

<p>Somayeh Mirshamsi, assistant director on 'The Salesman', said Alidoosti had called her father to say she was being held in Tehran's notorious Evin prison, run by the intelligence ministry.</p>

<p>Alidoosti asked her father for the delivery of medicines, and her family are "worried" and her health, Mirshamsi wrote on Twitter.</p>

<p><strong>- 'Power of women's voices' -</strong></p>

<p>Prominent Iranian cinema figures gathered outside Evin prison, Iranian daily Shargh reported, including co-stars from "Leila's Brothers", a film which Alidoosti went to Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to promote.</p>

<p>The group included actor Payman Maadi and director Saeed Roustayi, as well as her father Hamid, who played football for Iran in the 1970s.</p>

<p>Her arrest also generated anger on social media, with exiled actor Golshifteh Farahani calling her "the brave actress of Iran" and demanding her release.</p>

<p>On November 9, Alidoosti posted an image of herself without a headscarf, holding a paper with the main slogan of the protests: "Woman, life, freedom".</p>

<p>In a show of support after her arrest, the former French football star turned actor Eric Cantona reposted that image on Instagram with the hashtag "#freedom".</p>

<p>In Canada, Cameron Bailey, head of the Toronto International Film Festival, called Alidoosti "one of Iran's most talented and acclaimed actors".</p>

<p>"I hope she's free to keep representing the strength of Iranian cinema soon", Bailey wrote.</p>

<p>The New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran said women including Alidoosti "are being arrested and jailed in Iran for refusing to wear forced hijabs".</p>

<p>According to a study in Nature last year, the world's population of oceanic sharks has fallen by 71 per cent since the 1970s due to overfishing.</p>

<p>The Shark Conservation Fund, meanwhile, says 36 per cent of the world's 1,250 shark and ray species are currently threatened with extinction.</p>

<p>Researchers have blamed films such as 'Jaws'&nbsp;for playing a role in the public's perception of sharks, driving support for killing them.</p>

<p>Others, however, argue that this attributes too much significance to the influence of Hollywood.</p>

<p>Spielberg, who is also known for Hollywood blockbusters including ET, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, chose the 10 records he would take if he was stranded on a desert island in the Sunday broadcast.</p>

<p>The filming model was operated by 12 professional animators and its&nbsp;movements, including facial expressions, nose, eyes, mouth, lids movement, neck movement, shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, chest and abdomen rotations, were controlled by&nbsp;a combination of cables connected to electronic apparatus and mechanical elements.</p>

<p>"Pre-dating modern CGI technology and effects, this one-of-a-kind cinematographic relic (constructed in 1981) features 85 points of movement and is regarded as an engineering masterpiece," the description of the model reads.</p>

<p>Britney Spears's father Jamie Spears gave an interview to a publication on Sunday and spoke about the singer's controversial 13-year 'conservatorship'. While defending himself, he said that the conservatorship was a necessary intervention which not only saved the 41-year-old from her darkest days but also rescued her fragile relationship with her kids.</p>

<p>Speaking to The Mail, Jamie said that he doesn't wish to paint a pretty picture of the family's struggles. But the decisions, he insists, were the right ones, even though they came at the expense of his relationship with his daughter.</p>

<p>"Not everybody's going to agree with me," Jamie said. "It's been one hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don't know if she'd be alive. I don't."</p>

<p>"For protecting her, and also protecting the kids, conservatorship was a great tool. Without it, I don't think she would have got the kids back." Jamie added.</p>

<p>At the time, Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, had argued in court that her father is "a cruel, toxic, abusive man" and said that it was long past time to remove him from the conservatorship.</p>

<p>Rapper Megan Thee Stallion's ex-best friend Kelsey Nicole Harris, who is a&nbsp;key witness in the Tory Lanez trial,&nbsp;was called to the stand by the prosecution on Wednesday.&nbsp;Surprisingly, Kelsey didn't&nbsp;seem to remember much about the night in question.&nbsp;She was the other woman in the car when Tory Lanez allegedly shot Megan.</p>

<p>Back in September, Kelsey did testify that Tory threatened to shoot her (Kelsey), but this time on the stand, she backtracked and said that sworn statements she'd given to the investigators in the lead-up to this trial weren't entirely truthful.</p>

<p>While prosecutors wanted her to point the finger at Tory, Kelsey didn't do so and it could have a disastrous impact on the prosecution’s case.</p>

<p>Kelsey is due back in court on Thursday to complete her testimony.</p>

<p>After failing to reach a verdict over a span of nine&nbsp;days, the jurors in Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault trial&nbsp;will resume deliberations next week on Monday.&nbsp;The deliberations began on December 2 and till now, the 12-person jury has since discussed the case for about 37 hours in total.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, the jurors asked to have a few testimonies read back to them, indicating that they are still sifting through the witnesses' allegations. Since the courtroom will be closed on Thursday and Friday, the testimonies are expected to be read on&nbsp;Monday.</p>

<p>Through the course of the deliberations, the jury asked one question. Judge Lisa B. Lench, however, has opted not to reveal the question&nbsp;to the media. It's difficult to decipher why the jury is taking so long to deliver the verdict since not a lot of information is out in public.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The court is aware that there have been inquiries from the press regarding the contents of juror questions sent to the court," the judge said in a minute order Wednesday. "The contents of the communications reveal the deliberative process of the currently-deliberating jury. As such, the court believes it would be inappropriate to release to the press the contents of the communications prior to the discharge of the jury as it would impinge on the deliberative processes of the jury."</p>

<p>In addition to the 23-year sentence he is already serving on his conviction in New York, Weinstein is facing seven charges of sexual assault, stemming from four victims. If found guilty, he could face up to 60 years to life in prison.</p>

<p>The 12-person jury, who&nbsp;is made up of three women &amp; nine men, must reach a unanimous decision on each of the seven charges to indict Weinstein.</p>

<p>According to the Instagram post, creating the necklace was "an expedition spanning 14 months" with every diamond hand selected, inspected to only suit perfection.</p>

<p>This monumental art piece is made in 18k white gold and each diamond is over 8 carats.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hollywood star Kate Winslet, who shot to fame with&nbsp;her role as Rose in James Cameron's 1997 evergreen classic 'Titanic', recently spoke to a publication and revealed that her three kids forced her to join the cast of 'Avatar: The Way of Water'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Winslet, who doesn't normally involve her children in her career decisions, decided to listen to her sons Bear and Joe and daughter Mia, and take up the challenging role.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was just super happy to jump [into the world of Avatar] and very excited to be asked," Winslet told people.&nbsp;"He called me and described the role and I thought, 'My God, that sounds amazing.' And my kids were like, 'Oh my God, mom, you have to do it.' I was like, 'Obviously.' I said, 'Well, they're going to send the script.' They were like, 'No, it doesn't matter. Just you have to do it!'"</p>

<p>By signing up for the role in the highly-anticipated sequel, the Oscar-winning actress also got to reunite with her 'Titanic' director, who she adores a lot. "We've totally kept in touch over the years. He's very good at Christmas and birthday presents," Winslet says of Cameron. "He always remembers. He's amazing."</p>

<p>Revealing how she mastered the art&nbsp;of holding her breath underwater, she said, "I have a lot more interest in breath work now for sure. And it is very calming. But I certainly do [still use it]. If we are on vacation, for example, and one of the kids will say, 'Oh, I'm going to dive down and get that shell.' I will say, 'Okay, not too deep please.' I know how deep they could safely go before they need to come back up and take a sequence of specific breaths on the surface to not get that kind of slightly stars-in-the-air blackout feeling because that's when actually people run into trouble when they surface [too quickly]."</p>

<p>She continued, "There's a breathing sequence and I make them do it now. I surfaced from [holding my breath] for seven minutes and 15 seconds. I was trained so well and I had all the safety in place and really respected the process. You can't muck around with it. And it isn't something you can just do at home. And you must do it with another person there. So it was just amazing, honestly. It really was an extraordinary thing to learn."</p>

<p>'Avatar: The Way of Water' will release in theatres on December 16.</p>

<p>Hollywood star Kate Hudson, who played pivotal roles in 'Fool's Gold', 'Bride Wars' and 'Good People' among others, is all set to add another golden feather to her already decorated hat. The actress is venturing into the world of&nbsp;music and is all set to drop&nbsp;her debut album next year.</p>

<p>On the latest episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', Hudson revealed that she's been a songwriter since she was 19, but "never shared" her work. And, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, she was determined to live her life with no regrets. So, she decided to put her work out, without worrying about the reaction she might get from the audience.</p>

<p>"You know, I had this thing (during) COVID.&nbsp;Every time you're doing interviews, people are like, 'Do you have any regrets?' I go, 'I'm in early 40s... not yet.' But during COVID, I was like, 'You know, what am I doing?'," she explained.</p>

<p>"I just thought that would be one of my great regrets. I have no expectations," she said while talking about her forthcoming project. "I just want to put a record out, and so I'm doing it. And I'm really proud of it. I can't wait."</p>

<p>Hudson also confirmed during the episode that her album will release "next year".</p>

<p>Beira's Place is billed as a free support and advocacy service run by women for women in Edinburgh and the surrounding area who have experienced abuse.</p>

<p>Rowling, who lives in the Scottish capital and is helping to fund the centre, has spoken in the past of being a survivor of domestic violence.</p>

<p>But the launch comes as debate rages in the UK about recognition of gender identity, which has seen Rowling the target of militant transgender rights supporters.</p>

<p>In 2020, she was accused of transphobia for mocking the phrase "people who menstruate", in a row that escalated into death threats.</p>

<p>The new centre comes as the devolved Scottish government in Edinburgh has put forward proposals to simplify the process for anyone who wants to change their gender.</p>

<p>Rowling has criticised the reforms of the Gender Recognition Act. Others opposed to the move are on the board of Beira's Place, the BBC reported.<br />

<p>The 12-person jury, which is made up of eight men and four women, is tasked to deliberate&nbsp;on seven charges stemming from four accusers, including five counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape. They will have to assess a hefty amount of evidence, including testimony from 50 witnesses.&nbsp;The jurors must reach a unanimous decision on each of the counts.</p>

<p>It's hard to say why the jury is taking so much time to deliberate or what they might be stuck on as they have not submitted any questions or notes to the judge, at least, in the presence of the media.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Weinstein was extradited to Los Angeles in 2021. Since then he has been held in a medical unit of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.</p>

<p>Nolan shared that he favours practical effects over VFX. And, that is quite evident in his work as he once blew up a real Boeing 747 to shoot an important scene for 'Tenet'.</p>

<p>While speaking to Total Film magazine, the director said, "I think recreating the Trinity test (the first nuclear weapon detonation, in New Mexico) without the use of computer graphics was a huge challenge to take on."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Andrew Jackson, my visual effects supervisor, I got him on board early on, was looking at how we could do a lot of the visual elements of the film practically, from representing quantum dynamics and quantum physics to the Trinity test itself, to recreating, with my team, Los Alamos up on a mesa in New Mexico in extraordinary weather, a lot of which was needed for the film, in terms of the very harsh conditions out there,&nbsp;there were huge practical challenges," Nolan added.</p>

<p>Nolan's film is based on nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was universally regarded as the "father of the atomic bomb". He was also&nbsp;the director of the Manhattan Project, which was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons.</p>

<p>Speaking further about the film in the interview, Nolan shared that 'Oppenheimer' is a "story of immense scope and scale".</p>

<p>"It's one of the most challenging projects I've ever taken on in terms of the scale of it, and in terms of encountering the breadth of Oppenheimer's story. There were big, logistical challenges, big practical challenges," he shared.</p>

<p>The director continued, "I had an extraordinary crew, and they really stepped up. It will be a while before we're finished. Certainly, as I watch the results come in, and as I'm putting the film together, I'm thrilled with what my team has been able to achieve."</p>

Christopher Nolan recreated first nuclear weapon detonation without VFX for 'Oppenheimer'

<p>Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has filed a defamation suit against Jacqueline Fernandez, alleging that the latter made "defamatory imputations against her due to malicious reasons", Indian media reported citing documents. Both of their names appeared during an Enforcement Directorate investigation against conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the Rs 2 billion money-laundering case.</p>

<p>According to an affidavit shared by India Today, Nora said, "Jacqueline Fernandes sought to criminally defame the complainant in order to destroy her career to further her own interests, since they are both working in the same industry and have similar backgrounds, amongst other reasons."</p>

<p>Nora filed this defamatory case against Jacqueline after the latter gave a written plea in the PMLA court and submitted that "she was being falsely implicated by the ED while celebs such as Nora Fatehi who had also received gifts from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar had been made witnesses".</p>

<p>Refuting Jacqueline's claims,&nbsp;Nora said that she had nothing to do with the matter and that she had no contact directly with Sukesh Chandrashekhar, but she only knew the conman through his wife, Lena Maria Paul.</p>

<p>Nora also denied receiving gifts from the conman, as previously claimed by Jacqueline.</p>

<p>Legendary singer Tina Turner shared a monochrome image on social media along with an emotional note after the sudden and shocking passing of her 62-year-old son&nbsp;Ronnie Turner.&nbsp;According to reports, Ronnie breathed his last on Thursday.</p>

<p>Paramedics found him struggling to breathe at a home in the San Fernando Valley. Rescue workers attempted CPR, but he was pronounced dead.</p>

<p>“Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son,” the&nbsp;singer wrote.</p>

<p>Organised by Film Heritage Foundation in collaboration with PVR Cinemas, the movie gala opened at PVR Juhu on Saturday evening with the screening of Mehboob Khan-directed 'Aan', attended by Kumar’s wife Saira Banu, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Prem Chopra, Farida Jalal, R Balki and Ramesh Sippy.</p>

<p>Banu, who was 12 years old when she first saw 'Aan', said it was an emotional moment to watch Kumar on the big screen again.</p>

<p>“It was wonderful to be there and watch the film (again). There were so many who had come and it felt good,” the veteran actor told PTI.</p>

<p>'Aan', also starring Prem Nath, Nadira and Nimmi, was the first Indian film to have a worldwide release in 17 languages and 28 countries. It was also dubbed in Tamil and released under the same title.</p>

<p>Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, the founder of the Film Heritage Foundation, said about 300 people attended the screening of 'Aan'&nbsp;and it was a delight to have some of the biggest names from the industry as well as young movie enthusiasts witness the magic of Dilip Kumar.</p>

<p>“It’s a festival to remember Dilip Kumar sahab, who was from a different generation. There are many young people coming to watch these films… We saw ‘Aan’ yesterday and we were moved. Dilip sahab is still a modern contemporary actor. He was so natural and stood out,” Dungarpur told PTI.</p>

<p>With the festival, the filmmaker-archivist said, the not-for-profit organisation aims to introduce the younger generation to the history of Indian cinema.</p>

<p>“I am happy. We set out to bring back these films and make the younger generation realise the importance of history. Unless you go back in the past, you will not know what to do in future. The young generation needs to see all this,” he added.</p>

<p>Prem Chopra, Kumar’s co-star from films such as 'Bairaag', 'Dastaan'&nbsp;and 'Kranti', said it was a “great experience” to see his frequent collaborator on the big screen after so many years. The duo have also worked together in 'Duniya'&nbsp;and 'Ram Tere Kitne Naam'.</p>

<p>“It was a great experience watching ‘Aan’. Dilip Kumar sahab is superb in the film. He was contemporary even at that time… I had seen the film earlier once or twice and now I wanted to see it again,” the actor told PTI.</p>

<p>The opening ceremony took place at PVR Juhu here. And the second film to be screened was Sippy’s 1982 crime drama 'Shakti'.</p>

<p>Sippy introduced the film, also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Smita Patil, to the crowd.</p>

<p>An avid cinema-goer Harsha Seta, who first saw 'Shakti' 40 years ago, said the film brought back so many memories.</p>

<p>“Dilip Kumar is my favourite actor and so is Smita Patil. It is a delight to watch their film ‘Shakti’ in a theatre after 40 years. My husband and I are big film buffs and we would watch many films together then. It is like reliving our old days of our favourite film again,” Seta told PTI.</p>

<p>Veteran actor Waheeda Rahman said it was Kumar’s sincerity as a performer that made him one of the greatest Indian actors of all time.</p>

<p>“He had an amazing quality. Even if he was not ok with a scene, he would perform it with full dedication and sincerity. That’s what made him Dilip Kumar,” Rahman said during the event.</p>

<p>Parekh added she was always in awe of Kumar but regrets not working with him in a film.</p>

<p>“I’ve always been in awe of him. I was supposed to work with him in a film but it got shelved. It’s my bad luck. I’ve always been a great fan of Dilip Kumar sahab,” she said.</p>

<p>Kumar’s last acting appearance was in 1998’s 'Qila'. The actor passed away last year in July.</p>
