Indian actor Aamir Khan's monumental film, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, completes 25 years today. Twenty-five years ago, the Indian film industry looked at a four-hour script about colonial taxes and a high-stakes cricket match, and collectively decided it was box-office poison. No established producer would touch Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan.
But Aamir Khan, who was then a traditional 90s star, stepped up to bankroll the massive project himself, gambling his entire career on a fictional village called Champaner. As the Epic marks its 25th anniversary this June, it is impossible to separate the legacy of the film from the birth of "Brand Aamir."

Lagaan completes 25 years & more | E-Club 

<p>As Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan completed twenty-five years since it hit theatres, British actor Rachel Shelley looked back on the experience with gratitude and affection.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The actor, who played Elizabeth Russell in the Oscar-nominated period drama, shared a video on Instagram as the film marked its silver jubilee. Reflecting on her journey with Lagaan, Shelley said the memories of the film continue to stay with her even after all these years.</p><h2>Rachel Shelley recalls working in Lagaan</h2><p>"Sometimes I feel like it was just yesterday," she said. Aamir Khan: 'Bhuvan in 'Lagaan' shouldn't have been clean-shaven, there was no water there'

<p>One of the greatest &amp; iconic films made in the history of Indian cinema &nbsp;'Lagaan' has turned 21 this year and celebrating the milestone, Aamir Khan hosted a small get-together for all the cast and crew members of the film.&nbsp;<br />

The intimate gathering was hosted by Khan at his home and the night was full of chit-chats, food and fun games.<br />

Khan's production house shared a video from the night showing Aamir in a relaxed mood with other members including director Ashutosh Gowariker, Daya Shankar Pandey, Pradeep Rawat, Yashpal Sharma Akhilendra Mishra among others.&nbsp;<br />

The video was shared with the caption ''#21yearsof Lagaan''&nbsp;&nbsp;Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan were also part of the celebration.&nbsp;<br />
