Lagaan completes 25 years & more | E-Club

Indian actor Aamir Khan's monumental film, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, completes 25 years today. Twenty-five years ago, the Indian film industry looked at a four-hour script about colonial taxes and a high-stakes cricket match, and collectively decided it was box-office poison. No established producer would touch Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan. But Aamir Khan, who was then a traditional 90s star, stepped up to bankroll the massive project himself, gambling his entire career on a fictional village called Champaner. As the Epic marks its 25th anniversary this June, it is impossible to separate the legacy of the film from the birth of "Brand Aamir." Find out more about everything that happened in the world of entertainment in the latest episode of E-Club.
