An official was quoted on condition of anonymity in the news agency Reuters, he said, one KFC employee was shot and killed this week in a store on the outskirts of Lahore by unknown gunmen. Since the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in&nbsp;Ayodhya on January 22, the north Indian city has been undergoing a transformation into a tourism hotspot. Discussions are underway regarding the possibility of various food chains opening outlets in the holy city, all of which will exclusively serve vegetarian food to adhere to local customs and regulations.

One notable contender is Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), recognised globally for its chicken-based menu. While KFC already has a regular outlet along the Ayodhya-Lucknow highway, non-vegetarian food items are prohibited within the sacred city. However, Ayodhya authorities are open to welcoming KFC if they are willing to adjust their menu to include only vegetarian offerings.

"We are ready to provide even KFC a space if it decides to sell only vegetarian items," stated Vishal Singh, a government official in Ayodhya, as reported by Indian website Moneycontrol.

Singh emphasised the city's receptiveness to big food chain outlets, with the sole stipulation being the exclusion of non-vegetarian fare within the 'panch Kosi' area.

An Indian court has ruled that the multinational fast food chain KFC cannot claim&nbsp;exclusivity in the use of the word "chicken." The Delhi High Court's ruling followed a Kentucky Fried Chicken International Holdings LLC appeal against the Senior Examiner of Trademarks' denial of the company's request to register "Chicken Zinger" as a trademark, as reported by PTI.&nbsp;

The court&nbsp;ordered the Trademark Registry to publish an advertisement in connection with the registration application for the mark "Chicken Zinger" and to address any opposition to the registration within three months.

"It is clarified that Appellant shall not have any exclusive rights in the word 'Chicken'. Trademarks Registry shall reflect this disclaimer at the time of advertisement of the subject mark and also if subject mark ultimately proceeds for registration," said Justice Sanjeev Narula in a recent order.

Fast food giant KFC has apologised after it asked its customers in Germany to 'commemorate Kristallnacht,' a Nazi atrocity that is seen as the beginning of systematic Nazi attempts to annihilate Jewish population. KFC on Wednesday (October 9) asked customers to commemorate the atrocity by ordering Chicken and Cheese from the fast food chain. It was a push notification sent by KFC on customers' mobile phones.

“Commemorate Kristallnacht – treat yourself to more soft cheese and crispy chicken. Now at KFCheese!” said the notification.

KFC appeared to be in damage control mode as it sent another notification just an hour later and apologised for the previous one. KFC said that the previous notification was sent due to “a fault in our system”

84 years ago, 'Kristallnacht' or 'night of the broken glass' saw Nazi-led gangs vandalising and even setting on fire, shops and businesses owned by Jews in Germany. Even Synagogues were not spared.

It is being believed that the KFC push notification was auto-generated, with automated systems linking any anniversary&nbsp;to notifications to boost sales. But a blunder such as an appeal to commemorate an anti-Jew pogrom in Germany has drawn sharp reactions.

German news outlet Bild termed the blunder "tasteless". It said it was “fast-food advertising at the cost of the remembrance of the victims of the Nazi regime”.

On Kristallnacht, the night between November 9 and 10, 1938. Nazi-led mobs went on rampage to intimidate the Jewish population.

According to the official reports at the time, 91 people were killed, 7500 businesses were destroyed along with 267 synagogues. However, it is believed that the real figure was much higher. It is said that at least 1300 people lost their lives and at least 1400 synagogues were destroyed in Germany and Austria.

Even Synagogues were not spared. It is being believed that the KFC push notification was auto-generated, with automated systems linking any anniversary to notifications to boost sales. But a blunder such as an appeal to commemorate an anti-Jew pogrom in Germany has drawn sharp reactions. German news outlet Bild termed the blunder "tasteless". It said it was “fast-food advertising at the cost of the remembrance of the victims of the Nazi regime”. On Kristallnacht, the night between November 9 and 10, 1938. Nazi-led mobs went on rampage to intimidate the Jewish population. According to the official reports at the time, 91 people were killed, 7500 businesses were destroyed along with 267 synagogues. However, it is believed that the real figure was much higher. It is said that at least 1300 people lost their lives and at least 1400 synagogues were destroyed in Germany and Austria. There were also cases where people paid others to buy these meal sets for them, throwing away the food afterwards.

KFC "used limited-edition blind box sales to induce and condone consumers' irrational and excessive purchase of meal sets, which goes against public order, good customs and the spirit of the law," the association said.

Yum China and Pop Mart did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

KFC launched the promotion to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the opening of its first outlet on the Chinese mainland. The mystery boxes have been a big trend, particularly among young people.

China in 2020 launched a major campaign against food wastage, spearheaded by President Xi Jinping, amid growing worries about food security during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the campaign it banned online influencers from binge eating on social media platforms, and also urged restaurant-goers not to order more than they can eat.

Burger King said several of these restaurants are facing monetary issues due to the coronavirus pandemic which forced all restaurants and other businesses to shut down for nearly three months. "So, if you want to help, keep treating yourself to tasty meals through home delivery, takeaway or drive thru," Burger King UK tweeted.

"Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing," the tweet concluded on a lighter note.

The message came after the UK once again initiated&nbsp;a second nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus cases as the COVID-19 cases were surging in the country.

Fast-food giant KFC has decided to halt its signature "Finger Lickin' Good" slogan due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic.&nbsp;
