Amid controversies, the makers of 'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' are all set to release the film's teaser on 2nd October. The film has been in the making for a long time and has been shrouded by various controversies. The director of the film, Krish, reportedly left the project a few weeks back and got busy with the NTR biopic. The film's leading lady, Kangana then stepped in to complete the patchwork. Then Sonu Sood walked out of the film as he was asked to re-shoot scenes by Ranaut and the actor claimed that he had given his dates to Rohit Shetty's 'Simbaa'. Cannes 2018: Kangana Ranaut brings back vintage fashion on her debut appearance at the festival

As a new month kicks in, our Bollywood beauties will gear up to put their best foot forward in the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

From the A-listers there will be an addition to the list as Kangana Ranaut will be making her debut on the red carpet along with Deepika Padukone like last year and Sonam Kapoor who has become a regular since a few couple of years. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is a regular for 17 years now will also be seen as we hope that she amazes us with killer style statement at the festival.

While Kangana who makes her debut will be seen on May 11, reports suggest that Deepika will be there for the second time on May 10 and 11. Aishwarya will walk on May 12 and 13 while Sonam will be seen on May 14 and 15. It’s suggested that Sonam will wrap her rumoured wedding before she walks on the Cannes red carpet as a newlywed.

As fittings, makeup and other details of their walk are being looked after -- these actresses are busy with professional commitments. Aishwarya is busy with Fanne Khan that releases this year as she works with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the film, Sonam has started promoting her soon-to-release film Veere Di Wedding with Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. In 2017, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose a Cinderella ball gown that stunned the onlookers. Meanwhile, Sonam was effortlessly chic and Deepika marked her presence at the Cannes with a sheer gown.

Kangana Ranaut to debut at Cannes red carpet

If everything had gone according to the schedule, Kangana Ranaut's period drama Manikarnika: Queen Of Jhansi would have released on April 27th. But now, as the film has faced innumerable delays, the makers have decided to release the film on August 15th. Rani's Jhansi's biopic will now clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Gold, which is a biopic as well on Hockey legend Dhyanchand.

According to a report in Times Of India, the film was pushed ahead because its shooting schedule got disrupted in December. Kangana got injured while filming an action scene and had to take two weeks of bed rest to completely recover. The VFX work had started in the meantime, but certain scenes were yet to be filmed.

“Apart from technical reasons, the content of the film, which revolves around the first war of Indian independence, makes it viable for an August 15 release. This also got instant thumbs-up from everyone involved in the project. Given that it’s a long weekend, both Gold and Manikarnika can sail through which is the reason the producers have chosen to bring out the film on Independence Day. Had that not been the case, then it would have been a cause of concern,” said a source close to the film.

Gold features Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy and has been directed by Reema Kagti. The film is being produced by Excel Entertainment. Manikarnika is being directed by debutant director Krish.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika' to clash with Akshay Kumar's 'Gold'

Ever since Karan Johar revealed the female leads of upcoming film Student Of The Year 2, social media users are raising the issue of nepotism. Earlier this year, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut raised the issue by saying that the Bollywood industry on a whole promotes nepotism and the deserving talent that exists in India is unable to come to fore because of this.

The second instalment of the franchise will launch Chunkey Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday and Mumbai businessman TV actress daughter Tara Sutaria.

Karan had yesterday tweeted the new film’s poster with the three main lead actors and wrote, " Here is the CLASS OF 2018! Ready...Set....See you in the theatres on 23 November 2018!" He introduced Tara’s photo and referred to her as “new admission to the class of 2018, the girl who is in it to win it” while introducing Ananya with: “And finally! Presenting ANANYA – joining class of 2018 at Saint Teresa! Welcome to the movies! #SOTY2.”

This is what Karan tweeted:

Soon after he tweeted, Twitterati started slamming Karan for being the “flag-bearer of nepotism”. Some even called him, “nepotism ka baap” and some said that Kangana Ranaut was right about the director.

In an earlier interview, Karan was asked about Kangana and whether he does, in fact, promotes nepotism, to which he said, "I was not at all. I felt like I was attacked, she was the missile and I was the target. I was not being nepotistic or sexist, I was just like she has her opinion and she is giving her thoughts. She clearly learned those 12 lines and came and they were wonderful. Even I learn my lines for any interview, these are not criticism."

He added, "She had an opinion, she is an exceptional talent and I have always said that. She has her opinion and she said it. Two weeks later I was given a platform and I said what I had to. I don't know what to say, what she meant, whereas I have never crossed paths with her beyond here and there. She decided to choose me, to make her point which is fine."

He went on to say, "I don't hate Kangana and she doesn't hate me. And I don't regret my words. We are adults and I will probably call her for my next party and I forgot to call for the last one. I would love to call her because I have a great amount of regard for her. She wasn't attacking me, she was blaming me for something and I was defending for the same."

Apart from launching Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in SOTY 2, Karan Johar is also producing Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor's first film Dhadak and even Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Arora's daughter Sara Ali Khan' film Simmba.

People also said Kangana Ranaut had been right about the director

#SOTY2.” This is what Karan tweeted: Here is the CLASS OF 2018! Ready...Set....See you in the theatres on 23 November 2018! #SOTY2@iTIGERSHROFF Tara, Ananya @apoorvamehta18 @punitdmalhotra @DharmaMovies @foxstarhindi @SOTYOfficial pic.twitter.com/4TGW4IGUvv — Karan Johar (@karanjohar) April 11, 2018 × Soon after he tweeted, Twitterati started slamming Karan for being the “flag-bearer of nepotism”. Even I learn my lines for any interview, these are not criticism." He added, "She had an opinion, she is an exceptional talent and I have always said that. She has her opinion and she said it. Two weeks later I was given a platform and I said what I had to. I don't know what to say, what she meant, whereas I have never crossed paths with her beyond here and there. She decided to choose me, to make her point which is fine." He went on to say, "I don't hate Kangana and she doesn't hate me. And I don't regret my words. We are adults and I will probably call her for my next party and I forgot to call for the last one. I would love to call her because I have a great amount of regard for her. She wasn't attacking me, she was blaming me for something and I was defending for the same."
As we informed yesterday about the release of first posters of the film, the makers have now released two more -- with Kangana and Rajkummar posing whackier than before.

Released today, in one poster Kangana can be seen posing in what looks like a crime scene wearing a silver coloured bikini. She lies on the chalk outline which is used to mark a dead body. Meanwhile, Rajkummar has tape all over his face as he winks with an eye at the camera (or maybe, us?)

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan to get married again?

Looks like the worst of Bollywood foes have finally patched up.

We are talking about director Karan Johar and actress Kangana Ranaut who kept fighting the whole time last year and sparked a debate around nepotism in Bollywood and unfair advantages given to those who come families of entertainers.

Burying the hatchet of the past, Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar can be seen on the set of India's Next Superstar in which Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty are co-judges while Kangana Ranaut will be seen as a celebrity judge on one episode.

Interestingly, the tagline of the show is 'Na Khaandaan Na Sifaarish' (No family reference) and when asked in an interview whether he was looking for an opportunity to answer about nepotism, Karan said, "I don't think this tagline was an answer from my side to anything. A lot of people want to be part of the entertainment industry but it is difficult to find a platform. We are providing this platform to all those who are talented."

Karan Johar, Kangana Ranaut new industry best friends?

Looks like the warring stars are wanting to extend an olive branch towards each other. A year after Kangana Ranaut accused Karan Johar of being a 'flag bearer of nepotism' on his show Koffee With Karan, the actress is soon going to share screen space with the filmmaker for a reality show.

Karan Johar is currently judging reality show India's Next Superstars, with Rohit Shetty and Kangana Ranaut is reportedly going to be a guest judge for one of the episodes. Kangana is going shoot for the episode on Thursday, states Mumbai Mirror in a report.

Ever since the Kangana's accusation on Koffee With Karan went viral, the duo has shared cold vibes and have not been seen together at any event.

Interestingly, the Mumbai report states that Kangana is looking forward to shooting for the episode. "I am looking forward to being on the show. It is a professional commitment for which I'm being paid. What is delightful is that Karan is okay with doing the show with me and seems to be slowly warming up to me."

"I'm happy that Karan is making me feel so welcome, but I think I have been worthy of every platform I've been on. I've earned my place and deserve to be on it. Nobody has to open any doors for me I am capable of opening all the doors myself, "added the actress.

Kjo, on his part, had earlier stated that he would be happy to have her with all the love and respect if the channel decided to invite her.

Will the two sharing the same stage be awkward, or have they really moved past their issues? Guess we will have to wait and watch the episode first.

In Pictures: Kangana Ranaut at Mr India pageant and winners

Few days back, Shabana Azmi sent a signed a petition to PM asking him to take strict action against those who have issued death threats to Deepika Padukone. The letter was reportedly signed by other prominent actresses including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anushka Sharma and Azmi herself.

Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut was also approached to sign the petition but the actress refused to sign. Tounges, naturally, started wagging as Kangana and Deepika's rivalry is a well-known fact. Many felt Kangana's behaviour was petty.

Now the actress has issued an official statement to NDTV wherein she said that she did support Deepika but she had her reasons for not signing the petition. The statement read, ""I was filming Manikarnika in Jodhpur, got a call from my dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms Shabana Azmi, I explained to Anushka that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi's investment in left wing vs right wing politics. I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country, I am on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement called 'Deepika bachao' lead by someone who character assassinated me when I was bullied, seems to be one of them. Anushka understood but I am glad they reached out to me, like I said Deepika has all my support I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone's support."

Interestingly, Kangana is not the only actress who hasn't signed the petition. The letter reportedly does not carry Katrina Kaif or Alia Bhatt's signatures either. Alia, a few days back, had condemned the protests and had questioned the government's inaction on punishing the perpetrators.

The letter talks about the threats that Rajput outfit Karni Sena had issued against Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone. A BJP leader had even announced a bounty of Rs 10 crores on Deepika head while some others wanted to chop off her nose.

Padmavati has been facing a severe backlash with Karni Sena demanding a ban on the film altogether. The film was scheduled for December 1 release but the makers pushed the release date as CBFC refused to certify the film- citing incomplete documentation. The move was criticised by Shabana Azmi severely.
