The recent truce marked the first pause in fighting giving some respite in the constant bombardment and fighting in the Palestinian enclave, but protesters said that was not enough.

“We need full support for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza,” 64-year-old protester Kate Hudson told Reuters at the rally which began from Park Lane and finished outside the Houses of Parliament.

She added, “It’s very welcome that there is a pause...But this problem needs to be resolved and resolved so that the Palestinians finally have the political settlement that countless U.N. resolutions have enshrined.”

Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy slammed Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar over a statement he posted about Emily. Announcing the nine-year-old’s release from Hamas captivity, Varadkar took to X and said “This is a day of enormous joy and relief for Emily Hand and her family.”&nbsp;

“An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and we breathe a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered,” he added.&nbsp;

In response to the post, Levy told the Irish PM that Hand wasn’t “lost” but had been “brutally abducted by the death squads that massacred her neighbours”.&nbsp;

He also said the way that Varadkar described Emily’s abduction was “how you describe a little girl who went missing during a stroll in a forest, then gets discovered by a friendly hiker.”

In a subsequent post, the Israeli government spokesperson along with an image of a “Lost and Found Box” said, “No wonder the Irish government opposes Israel’s military pressure on Hamas to release innocent hostages. It thought Emily Hand was hiding here.”

The Israeli Defense Forces has received a second list of hostages who will be released by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Saturday (Nov 25) under a truce deal, the office of Israel's prime minister wrote in a statement on Friday.

Israeli security officials were reviewing the list of names which was not made public until the safe release of the hostages, the statement added.

Israel's Hostage Coordinator Brig. Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch had passed on the information to the families of the captives, the statement said.

In a first batch of swap, Hamas freed a total of 24 hostages which included Israeli women and children and Thai farm workers, and a Filipino&nbsp;who were handed over to Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing, the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The firm has since removed Seldowitz’s page from its website.&nbsp;

Seldowitz was hired by the firm last year as its foreign affairs chair.

He had served as the acting director for the National Security Council South Asia Directorate in the Obama administration.&nbsp;

From 1999 to 2003, he was also the deputy director/senior political officer in the US State Department’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs.&nbsp;

In the video, Seldowitz starts off by saying that the Egyptian intelligence agency will get hold of the cart vendor’s parents and torture them.&nbsp;

They’ll take them out one by one,” said the former advisor, in one of the videos, while the man he’s addressing repeatedly tells him to leave and says he doesn’t speak English.&nbsp;

To which Seldowitz responds by saying, “Why should I go? Tell me why I should go? I’m standing here. I’m an American. It’s a free country. It’s not like Egypt.”&nbsp;

He was also seen mocking Islam and accusing the 24-year-old employee of supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. “You support killing little children,” Seldowitz could be heard telling the vendor in one of the videos.&nbsp;

<h2>‘I do regret’</h2>

In a telephonic interview with The New York Times, on Tuesday (Nov 21), Seldowitz said he had not seen the videos but added that the incident began with him asking the vendor if he was Egyptian.

Subsequently, as the conversation progressed the 24-year-old expressed support for Hamas, Seldowitz told the NYT.&nbsp;

“At that point, I got rather upset and I’ve said things to him, that in retrospect, I probably regret, though – that I do regret,” said Seldowitz.

He also went on to admit saying that instead of focusing on him and his remarks he&nbsp;“expanded into insulting his religion and so on.”

US: Ex-Obama adviser arrested after viral video shows Islamophobic comments hurled at food vendor

A doctor at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City told the news agency AFP that its director and several other medical personnel were arrested by Israeli forces on Thursday (Nov 23). Khalid Abu Samra, a chief of the department at the hospital, said: "Doctor Mohammad Abu Salmiya was arrested along with several other senior doctors."&nbsp;

Al-Shifa Hospital has been a major focus of the Israeli military operation against Hamas in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel.

Israel raided the hospital last week and claimed to have found tunnels beneath the hospital and said that they were used by Hamas militants. But Hamas has rejected these claims.&nbsp;

Ever since the war started, international media has frequently quoted Salmiya to report on the conditions inside Al-Shifa. Meanwhile, an official in the Hamas-run health ministry told the news agency that one other doctor and two nurses had been detained, besides the hospital director.

Hamas said in a statement that it "strongly denounces" the arrest of Salmiya and his colleagues. The group called on the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organisations to work towards their "immediate release".&nbsp;

Islamic Jihad, the Palestinian terrorist group, announced on Wednesday (November 22) announced that Hanna Katzir (76) an Israeli hostage has passed away. The announcement came just after Israel and Hamas reached a deal on hostage release. The group claimed that it "did everything" to take care of her.

“We previously expressed our willingness to release her for humanitarian reasons, but the enemy was stalling and this led to her death,” said Al Quds Brigades on its Telegram channel.

“In light of this announcement, we renew our affirmation of renouncing our responsibility towards our enemy prisoners in light of the barbaric and frenzied bombing of every inch of the Gaza Strip,” said the armed wing of the terrorist group.

Islamic Jihad had said earlier month that it would release Katzir and a 12-year-old boy on humanitarian and medical grounds. The group had circulated a video and a message saying this.

<h2>The hostage exchange and truce</h2>

As per the deal, Hamas is going to release 50 hostages in its custody in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody. If Hamas releases another 50 hostages, Israel will release 150 more prisoners. Israel has already released list of 300 prisoners who will be gradually released under the deal.

A Hamas official has been quoted by Al Jazeera as saying that the truce between the warring sides will begin at 10 am on Thursday (Nov 23).

Hamas fighters crossed Gaza Strip border and launched attack in southern Israel on October 7 and, as per Israeli tally, killed 1200 people and took more than 200 hostages. Israel then launched an overwhelming military attack with thousands of air raids on the Palestinian enclave. Israeli tanks and troops&nbsp;also launched ground attack.

Seventy-six year old hostage dies hours before Israel-Hamas hostage release deal

Jamal Muhammad Haniyeh, the oldest grandson of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in an Israeli attack, multiple media reports said. Jamal Haniyeh was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike. The air strike took place inside the Gaza Strip. A couple of weeks ago, Roaa Haniyeh, granddaughter of Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a similar bombing. She was a medical student at the Gaza University. It has been reported that Haniyeh has lost more of his relatives in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Israeli fighter jets have also targeted Haniyeh's properties in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has released a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners, out of which 150 will be released in the first phase if the Hamas militant group releases more than the promised 50 Israeli hostages. The list was released on Wednesday (Nov 22) by Israel's Justice Ministry. As per Haaretz, the ministry also reportedly gave a time frame of 24 hours to the public to appeal to the court regarding the list.

Both sides have agreed to release 150 females and minors. Meanwhile, 287 out of 300 detainees mentioned in the list are males who are aged under 18.&nbsp;The remaining 13 prisoners are adult women arrested for attempting terror stabbing. &nbsp;

The 150 detainees will be released by Israel in the first phase. In the second phase,&nbsp;Israel will release another 150 Palestinian detainees in case another 50 hostages are released from Gaza.

As per the second phase, the truce in Israel-Hamas war will be extended by a day for every 10 further hostages released.&nbsp;

According to media reports, intense negotiations are underway in Qatar, which is also home to Hamas’ political office,&nbsp;where Haniyeh is based.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden, on Monday (Nov 20) said that he believes that a deal to free some of the hostages in exchange for a ceasefire is close.

“I believe so,” said Biden when asked whether a deal was near during a Thanksgiving ceremony at the White House and went on to cross his fingers to signal he hoped for good luck.

Separately, the Hamas’ leader also met with Mirjana Spoljaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Qatar on Monday (Nov 20) to “advance humanitarian issues” related to the conflict, the Geneva-based ICRC said in a statement.&nbsp;

The report said that Wenkert spoke to the media on Monday and over a week ago, he urged the European Parliament for help. Media reports have said that Wenkert spoke with the media before he and other relatives met with Prime Minister Netanyahu and his war cabinet in Tel Aviv.&nbsp;

Gil Dickmann, whose cousin is being held in Gaza, chanted: "Bring them home!" The family members held pictures of their loved ones.&nbsp;
