<p>The 30 players have been divided into four grades, namely: A-plus, A, B and C. Here's the full list of players in each grade:</p>

<p><strong>Grade A+ (4 players):</strong> Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.</p>

<p><strong>Grade A (6 players): </strong>R Ashwin, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya.</p>

<p><strong>Grade B (5 players):</strong> Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.</p>

<p><strong>Grade C (15 players):</strong> Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar.</p>

<p>Additionally, the board also said that in its release that the players who fulfill a minimum criteria of playing 3 Tests or 8 ODIs or 10 T20Is in the specified time period will automatically be included in the Grade C list on pro-rata basis.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It means that Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan will be eligible for the BCCI Grade C contract if they make it to the playing XI of the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala which starts on March 7. Both the players have already featured in the two Tests of the ongoing series.</p>

<h3>Pakistan aim to create history</h3>

<p>Babar Azam admitted at the toss that even he looked to bowl first, considering several factors, including the dew that might play a role later in the innings.</p>

<p>Speaking with presenter and commentator Ravi Shastri at the toss, Babar said,</p>

<p>“We also wanted to bowl first. We have had good two wins, and momentum and confidence are high. Jam-packed stadium, we will enjoy it. We want to be good in the field, we had a couple of good practice sessions. Same team for us.”</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Pakistan is unchanged from their previous XI, which created history against Sri Lanka by completing the most successful run-chase in the tournament history.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking on India ticking most boxes, especially having two keeper-batters in their provisional 15, Gilchrist said India is well stocked, with options under their belt, they can deliver on the bigger stage.</p>

<p>"They [India] are well stocked. They have got a couple of [wicketkeeping] options there, obviously, when KL was out with his injury, Ishan Kishan took his opportunity and played really well, and now they find themselves in the team together, so that's a wonderful case of taking an opportunity.</p>

<p>"Being positive, and then, forcing the selectors into keeping you in the team [is impressive]. It seems like KL is gonna be the one who is going to continue with the gloves, but it does not seem to hinder Ishan Kishan's batting, he seems to be playing really well, carefree, attacking and dangerous," Gilchrist added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, after winning the Asia Cup 2023, India will host Australia for three ODIs. They will also open their Cricket World Cup campaign against the former five-time winners in Chennai on October 8.</p>

<h2><strong>Why Rahul did not keep wickets?</strong></h2>

<p>When Pakistan came out to bat in their innings at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, few were left surprised for Rahul as he opted to participate in the outfield duties. According to the team management plans, Rahul is still the first-choice wicketkeeper option to get&nbsp;Shreyas Iyer accommodated in the team. However, Rahul’s impressive knock for the team with an unbeaten 111 has seen him take a defensive approach.</p>

<p>With Ishan Kishan already a proven wicketkeeper option in the team, the management opted to use Rahul as an outfield player. This would give the Karnataka batter a well-deserved relief having batted for more than 30 overs during the batting stint.</p>

<p>The situation could be a good headache to have for Team India as Ishan has also been in red-hot form with the bat. Rahul’s impressive return with the bat on Monday could cement his place in the Playing XI for the upcoming ODI World Cup.</p>

He now resides within two hundreds of Tendulkar and could surpass him in the coming months as India have multiple ODI series and tournament to play.</p>

The young batter has been in solid form in the 50-over format with four successive half-centuries and confirmed his WC spot following a fine 82 versus Pakistan in India's Asia Cup 2023 opener, on September 02.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking on Kishan, Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, "This is not a competition between Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson, because Kishan fills so many roles. When you pick a 15-member squad, you need to pick a backup wicket-keeper. Even when we pick a Ranji Trophy squad, we pick two wicket-keepers."</p>

<p>The 36-year-old Ashwin further highlighted that Kishan can bat anywhere and being a left-hander, he will add more variety to the line-up. With less than a month to go for the start of the ODI World Cup in their own backyard, India announced its 15-member squad with no real surprises. Ishan Kishan, named in the squad, has been knocking on the doors for a permanent spot in the Playing XI, but the question is does he deserve to start ahead of KL Rahul in the ODI World Cup?</p>

<h2><strong>In-form batter</strong></h2>

<p>Ishan, 25, has been in great form in the recent times that has seen him cement his place in the Playing XI, but with veteran Rahul set for a comeback in the team, his place could be in jeopardy. In the West Indies tour, he scored three consecutive fifties while he continued his best touch with another one in the opening Asia Cup 2023 contest against Pakistan. With four consecutive fifties, he is the most in-form player in the Indian side.</p>

<p>Since the tail end of last year, Ishan Kishan has scored runs left, right, and centre&nbsp;which earned him a&nbsp;place in the team. He scored a brilliant double hundred in the ODI against Bangladesh last December; however, Shubman Gill’s form saw him go down the pecking order. But injuries to players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer helped him claw back into the team.</p>

<h2><strong>Wicketkeeper option</strong></h2>

<p>Ishan’s formidability in the team also attracts a huge interest as the team has struggled since Rishabh Pant’s near-fatal accident last December. The key role initially saw three frontrunners in the form of Rahul, Ishan, and Sanju Samson in the race to take over the duties with gloves. The Mumbai Indians batter is already an established wicketkeeper while providing competition to Rahul and Samson. As things stand, Rahul (in the World Cup squad) has been struggling with injury issues while Samson (not in the World Cup squad) has failed to impress the selectors.</p>

<p>There are also concerns over Rahul’s ability to don the gloves for 50 overs as he is yet to take to the pitch since the final week of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With fitness playing a key role, Ishan looks a perfect fit in the side and has barely struggled with injuries.</p>

<h2><strong>Lack of left-hander options</strong></h2>

<p>The current Indian batting line-up lacks left-handing batting options, and Ishan provides relief on that front. As anticipated, if India put in a fully-strengthened side, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel remain the only left-hand batting options. If KL Rahul gets the nod ahead of Ishan, in this case, the Men in Blue will have a left-hand batting option in the top six.</p>

<p>Interestingly, compared to previous World Cup squads, India always had a good left-right combination to play the mind games. In the 2011 ODI World Cup, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina were the guaranteed left-hand batting options in the squad while Shikhar Dhawan was another key member during the last decade.</p>

<p>Provided India could struggle with the rotation of strikes and play the mind games, Ishan could be the perfect fit in the team.</p>
