Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel equalled the record for the most number of maiden overs bowled in an Indian Premier League (IPL) innings with back-to-back maiden overs against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. Harshal achieved the feat in RCB's clash against KKR at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

RCB bowlers got the team off to a sensational start after skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first in the game. Akash Deep drew the first blood for RCB as he got rid of KKR opener Venkatesh Iyer on 10 off 14 balls before Mohammed Siraj dismissed Ajinkya Rahane cheaply on 9.

The Kiwi batter said the duo came across as normal grown guys to him who are down to earth despite achieving tremendous success in their respective careers.

“A couple of days ago I had lunch and sat in between MS and Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja). It was really cool just to get to know them better. They are just normal men, normal grown guys, just down to earth. No aura about them, easy to get along with and easy to talk to. So it’s been really good to interact with those two legends of Indian cricket," said Conway.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got off to a losing start in their debut Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign as they suffered a five-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Lucknow Super Giants failed to defend a total of 158 runs despite being in control midway through GT's run-chase.

Lucknow Super Giants got off to a poor start after being asked to bat first as their top order collapsed inside the Powerplay. Deepak Hooda and young Ayush Badoni slammed half-centuries apiece to lift the team from 29/4 in the fifth over to a fighting total of 158/6 in 20 overs.

Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera bowled a brilliant spell in the Powerplay to send Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill and all-rounder Vijay Shankar packing in quick succession to get his team off to a great start. Skipper Hardik Pandya and Matthew Wade then steadied the ship for GT before the side lost wickets in quick succession once again to find themselves in trouble.

However, Rahul Tewatia, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar played crucial cameos to take the team home and hand Lucknow Super Giants their first loss of the season. LSG skipper Rahul was brutally trolled following the conclusion of the game for his tweet on the game.

“This one felt like a win because of the way we fought. Proud,” KL Rahul said in his tweet. His words left a section of fans surprised as they brutally trolled the star batter.

Badoni, who had played only five T20 games in his career before making his IPL debut for Lucknow on Monday, displayed amazing temperament and skills as he took his time to settle down his nerves before launching an all-out attack against the Gujarat Titans bowlers.

Badoni came out to bat at number six when Lucknow were reeling at 29/4 in 4.3 overs. He combined with in-form Deepak Hooda, who slammed a brilliant knock of 55 runs off 41 balls, to add an 87-run stand for the fifth wicket. The youngster looked unfazed despite coming out to bat in a pressure situation on his debut.

Badoni went on to score 54 off 41 balls laced with four fours and three sixes as he took the likes of Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan to the cleaners. Badoni's impressive show on debut left many in awe of the 22-year-old, who had scored just 8 runs in five T20 matches before Monday.

Badoni credited former India opener and Lucknow Super Giants' mentor Gautam Gambhir for backing him a lot and showing his faith in him from the very first game of the season. Badoni revealed Gambhir told him not to bat as per the situation and play his natural game as there were seniors in the side who are there to play as per the match situation.

"Gautam bhaiya backed me a lot. He told me to play just my natural game. He told me you won't get the one-odd match, but you will get a proper run. He also told me, 'you don't need to play according to the situation. There are senior players to do that. You show us your natural game'," Badoni said at the post-match press conference after Lucknow Super Giants' clash against Gujarat Titans.

"I have been in the auction for three years and have gone unsold. I have been to trials for two-three teams but nobody picked me at the auction eventually.
