This is KL Rahul's third consecutive 50-plus score in Test matches in England. His 129 runs powered India to a massive total of 364 runs in the first innings. Inzamam was impressed with Rahul's centuries that came away from home.

"If we talk about KL Rahul, five of his six Test centuries have come away from home. This is second in England and he has scored a century in Australia as well. Very rarely do we see batsmen with such performances. Very few batsmen have such a record where their initial 8-10 centuries are away from home," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.

"You might have seen plenty of players with away centuries, but usually they score their first set of hundreds at home, gain experience and then score away. However, KL Rahul's system is the opposite."

The former Pak skipper lauded Rahul for his confidence while playing.

"The confidence with which he is playing is great to watch. Even in the first Test, where he scored 84, it was more crucial than anyone else. He helped India gain the lead and played a huge role. So huge congratulations to KL Rahul," added Inzamam.

Form skipper of the Pakistan cricket team Inzamam-ul-Haq said that "India will be favourites" to win the five-match Test series between India and England, of which the first ended giving no result after the match at Trent Bridge on Sunday was washed out.

The play on the fifth and final day was called off due to rain and not even a single ball was bowled. Chasing 209 runs to win, India were looking good as they were 52/1 overnight and needed 157 runs to win. The next match series will be kick off from August 12 at Lord's.

While speaking in a video on his Youtube channel, Inzamam said, "I think India will be favorites moving forward in this Test series. I am not saying this because of their performance in the first Test. I feel that way because of the youngsters, who have come in recently in the last two years."

"The best trait in most of these young players is that they are performing well in all conditions. There used to be a time in the past when Indians used to play well at their home but not that well in foreign tours. But after these youngsters came in, India has been doing well while touring abroad," he added.

After the first match ended in a draw, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was disappointed as he said, "We were expecting rain on days three and four but it chose to come on day five. It would have been enjoyable to play and watch, but it’s a shame. This is exactly what we wanted to do; start strong."

"On day five we knew we had our chances. We certainly felt like we were on top of the game. Getting that lead was crucial, but it’s a shame we couldn’t finish day five. Getting to fifty overnight was important. We just didn’t want to play for survival," he added.

40-year-old Jimmy Anderson is regarded as a legend in terms of a Test bowler, whereas, Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in modern-day cricket.

However, the veteran bowler got the better of him in the first Test, but skipper Kohli will be rearing to take his revenge in the second innings.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that this legendary battle will go on throughout the series and the momentum will keep swinging.

"Anderson vs Kohli has been quite a contest over the years. It was there in the beginning, then we did not get to see it for a while but whenever these two have come across, Anderson has been able to dismiss him 8 to 9 times," Inzamam said in a video on Youtube.

"But Virat played him well last time at Trent Bridge, so now we will get to see this riveting battle throughout the series. Both are big players, world-class players, so momentum will keep swinging," he added.

Team India ended at 125/4 on Day 2 and are still 58 runs behind England's first innings total. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be looking forward to extending the innings and take a lead against the hosts.

A string of injuries have plagued Team India once again, but this time against England. Several players like opener Shubman Gill, all-rounder Washington Sundar and pacer Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the series after sustaining injuries.

Even the Indian team's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is being monitored after missing the 3-day warm-up match.

However, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq reacted to the problem and pointed out Team India's talented bench strength. He talked about the young Indian team's performance against Australia.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Inzamam said India have an 'excellent bench strength.'

“Team India are facing some injury issues in England. Sundar and Gill are unfit. Virat Kohli has a stiff back but he is trying his best to be fit for the first Test. Ajinkya Rahane also has a hamstring issue. The good thing though is that India have excellent bench strength so they should not face that much difficulty even if some of their key players are injured,” said Inzamam.

“Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw, who were doing well in Sri Lanka, will now fly to England. I don’t think Team India will be too worried over injuries. They faced a similar situation in Australia as well but they did not panic at all. The youngsters rose to the occasion and displayed great maturity as if they had been playing for many years. So, bench strength really matters a lot. They can pull you out of trouble and I give a lot of credit to Rahul Dravid for the same. In Sri Lanka as well, India won the ODIs and are 1-0 up in the T20Is as well.”

The India-Pakistan rivalry was fierce from the 90s and late 2000s. Inzamam-Ul-Haq, who was one of the top batsmen during that era, feels that the matches between the two have become more of India's way as the country has focused on different levels of cricket.

"Until 2010, there was intense competition among these three teams. But over the last 10-12 years, India has improved its game immensely and has certainly gone ahead of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The credit goes to the IPL for sure, but I must admit that India has focused a lot on its first-class cricket structure and that has played a huge role in its development," Inzamam told Sportstar.

"The associations have got money and the players have got world-class facilities - in terms of training. India is reaping benefits of its robust domestic structure, whereas Pakistan and Sri Lanka have not been able to develop their first-class cricket that much."

Former Pak skipper cited the example of India's historic tour to Australia, earlier this year. With Virat Kohli's absence and several veteran stars getting injured, India's young guns had to step up. Young talents like Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Rishabh Pant, and Navdeep Saini rose to the occasion and pulled off a historic win.

"Some 15 years ago, when a youngster came into the scene, he would get a few years' time to settle down, but now, there is no breathing space. The moment one enters the scene, we expect performances from him," Inzamam added.

"Earlier, touring sides struggled against the Australian team despite having top cricketers in their ranks. It was nearly impossible to beat Australia at home, but a bunch of youngsters from India actually did an incredible job by defeating the Aussies in their backyard. And that’s why, your first-class structure needs to be top notch - because it prepares you well. That is one area where Sri Lanka and Pakistan are slightly lagging behind."

'In 10-12 years, India has improved its cricket and has gone ahead of Pakistan': Inzamam-Ul-Haq

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq has said that India vs Pakistan matches have more following than The Ashes. He urged that a bilateral series between India and Pakistan is important.

"India-Pakistan series was followed much more than The Ashes and people thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment. For the betterment of the game and the players, it is important to have the Asia Cup and also bilateral series between India and Pakistan," Inzamam told Sportstar in an interview.

"Each and every competition is important. In our times, the Asia Cup was a tournament where the top teams would compete. The more you play high quality cricket, you develop your skills. For instance, if India were playing Pakistan, the players would be excited to put in their best efforts because they know the importance and intensity of these matches. That not only helps a player grow, but also helps him earn appreciation from the fans. I think it is important to have these tournaments."

Inzamam featured in several India vs Pakistan encounters between the 1990s and the early 2000s. He revealed his feelings about being a part of India vs Pakistan match.

"When we would play against each other, it was a great feeling. In those bilateral series, it was also an opportunity for the young cricketers to learn a thing or two from the senior players. Be it a Sachin Tendulkar or a Sourav Ganguly or Mohammad Azharuddin or Javed Miandad, the youngsters could just walk up to them and pick their brains. That was a fantastic opportunity to improve one’s game," the former Pakistan captain said.

"The on-field rivalry was intense, but at the end of the day, players respected each other and shared a camaraderie. Meri toh bari khwayaish hain ke yeh cheez dobara shuru ho jayein (I wish this [India-Pakistan series] resumes)."

Team India is set to feature in two simultaneously away tours. Stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and others will travel to England for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final and Five-match Test series against Root and Co., whereas, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Hardik Pandya will travel to Sri Lanka for limited overs' series.

"This idea of assembling a second Indian team is very interesting What India are trying to do today, Australia did this years ago, but they were not able to be successful in it. But the scenario today is such that India appear to be pulling it off. For the first time I think it is happening that a national cricket team will be playing two different series. "When Australia were at their peak. From 1995 to say 2005-2010, they had tried to distinguish two international teams named Australia A and Australia B, but they didn't get the permission. India are doing what even Australia couldn't do in their peak. And the move makes sense given the isolation protocols and everything, and it couldn't have been possible to send the same team to both countries in such a gap," the former Pakistan captain added.

According to Inzamam, there will be no difference in quality and talent between the two teams.

"India at this time have so much strength that they are capable of doing this. Their pool of players is so huge that they are able to manage this. If you look at the players who would be travelling to Sri Lanka, it would appear as if this is India's main team, such is their bench strength," said Inzamam.

Cricket: 'What India are trying today, Australia did this years ago': Inzamam-Ul-Haq

Rishabh Pant's batting in the fourth Test left the cricketing world stunned. The southpaw scored a crucial quick-ton to put India in a commanding position in the final Test match of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He earned a lot of praise from several experts and former players of the game, including Pakistan's Inzamam-Ul-Haq.

Former Pakistan skipper said that he is yet to come across a player as boisterous as the young India wicketkeeper and added that it felt like watching a left-handed version of Virender Sehwag.

"Rishabh Pant, absolutely brilliant. After a long time, I have seen a player on whom pressure seems to have no effect. Even if six wickets are down at 146, the way he starts his innings, no one does. He plays his strokes, irrespective of the pitch or how many runs the other team has scored. He is equally good against spinners and fast bowlers. I thoroughly enjoy watching him. It's like watching Sehwag bat left-handed," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.

Sehwag's form was at its peak when India toured Pakistan in 2004, the opening batsman smashed a memorable 309 at Multan. Taking a note from Sehwag's batting style, Inzamam pointed out a similarity in Pant.

"I have played with Sehwag and he too didn't bother about other factors. When he used to bat, it didn't matter to him how the pitch behaved or what kind of bowling attack the opponent had. He just had to play his strokes, even if the fielders were on the boundary. After Sehwag, I have seen such a player, for whom nothing else matters," Inzamam added.

According to Inzamam, Pant is a rare cricketer as the level of confidence he possesses is remarkable, probably better than some of the big players Indian cricket has produced over the years.

"Ever since I've noted, it's not that he's only doing it in India, he did it in Australia too. He didn't get to score centuries because he plays at his own pace. After a long time, I have seen such a player. India had Sachin, Dravid… now they have Virat and Rohit. But the way he plays, it's amazing. The kind of self-confidence he has is surprising. I haven't come across a player like him in cricket," said Inzamam.

Mohammad Amir, recently, decided to hang up his boots for Pakistan after differences with team management comprising chief coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that the controversial retirement will leave a bad impact on the country's cricket.

"It is not about what impact Amir's decision will have on our bowling resources or strength because life moves on. But what bothers me more is the negative impact such incidents have on our cricket and its image," Inzamam told the media in Lahore on Thursday (December 24).

"It is better if such situations don't take place.' At the same time, Inzamam felt that Amir should have used all his options before taking such a drastic step. "If he is unhappy with one or two persons in the team management he should have first spoken openly with the head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq and if required even the Pakistan Cricket Board officials before deciding on what to do." Inzamam agreed that he has had issues with Waqar and it needs to be sorted. "He appears to have issues with Waqar (Younis bowling coach) and if his grievances were not listened to then he should have adopted this route."

In a viral video, Amir said: “I don’t think I can continue playing cricket under this management. I am leaving cricket for the time being because I am being mentally tortured. I don’t think I can bear this torture anymore. What is happening recently is taunting me about everything. I took a personal decision and it has been presented in such a wrong way as though I don’t want to play for my country. Who doesn’t? Sometimes the bowling coach says he ditched the country, sometimes he talks about my workload, sometimes I am not in the plans. This is a wake-up call for me, that I am not in their plans, and I should move aside.”

"I will reveal the names in the coming days," he asserted. Kaneria told WION that he would present a clear picture about the alleged discrimination and would be releasing a video through his YouTube channel.

Akhtar speaking to a local channel had said that Pakistan team members allegedly were even reluctant to eat with Kaneria.

"I tell God all the time that I went against the odds and played for the Pakistan team," Kaneria said, adding, "I am a proud Hindu and I am proud of my dharma."

"Mohammad Yousuf and Yunus Khan both supported me. Shoaib Akhtar they all have supported me," the former leg spinner told WION. Akhtar had told the television channel that the Pakistan spinner was never given due credit for his performances and that he was constantly humiliated by his teammates.

Australia batsman Steve Smith who is having a remarkable Ashes, has broken the record of former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq of scoring most fifty-plus scores against a single team in Test cricket.

Smith broke the record on the second day of the fifth and final Ashes Test at the Oval as he scripted his sixth 50 plus score against England in the ongoing series.

Inzamam had scored nine fifty-plus scores against England, whereas Smith now has 10.

The 30-year-old Smith now has 751 runs in the series, as he played a knock of 80 runs in the fifth Test. However, he failed to score a century and was dismissed for his lowest knock in the series.

Smith is currently the number one ranked batsman in the ICC Test batsmen rankings and he has a lead of 34 points over Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

England ended day two of the final Test in a strong position after bundling out Australia for 225 in the first innings, gaining a lead of 69 runs here at the Oval.

After bowling out the Aussies, England just had to face four overs and openers Rory Burns and Joe Denly ensured they do not lose a wicket and the side finished the day at 9/0, taking the lead to 78.

In pursuit of England's first innings score, Australia once again got off to a bad start as the side lost its openers David Warner (5) and Marcus Harris (3) in quick succession as both batsmen were sent to the pavilion by Jofra Archer.

Smith and Marnus Labuschagne retrieved the innings for Aussies as they put up a 69-run stand, but their resistance was cut short by Archer as he had Labuschagne (48) plum in front to reduce Australia to 83/3.

The 30-year-old Smith (80) however kept on batting at one end, but he was finally dismissed for his lowest score of the series by Chris Woakes restricting Australia to 187/8.

Nathan Lyon and Peter Siddle added some runs late in the day, ensuring the team from Down Under goes past the 220-run mark. Both Lyon (25) and Siddle (18) were sent back to the pavilion by Archer. This enabled the pacer to take his wicket tally to six and bundle Australia out for 225.

Earlier in the day, England was bundled out for 294 in their first innings. Overnight batters Jos Buttler and Jack Leach were able to add just 23 runs more to the score.

Marsh went on to dismiss Leach (21) to take his fifth wicket in the innings. Jos Buttler was the top-scorer for England as he played a knock of 70 runs.

During Inzamam's tenure, players such as Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Abbas, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Usman Shinwari made their international debuts, while Babar Azam established himself as Pakistan's batting mainstay across all three formats of the game.

"It has been a pleasure to see these players grow and make names for themselves in international cricket," Inzamam added.

"I will follow their progress with interest because I firmly believe these players have all the ingredients to take the Pakistan cricket team to greater heights," said Inzamam.

Inzamam-ul-Haq steps down as Pakistan Cricket Board's chief selector

Inzamam-ul-Haq, former captain of Pakistan Cricket Team, was one of the best batsmen of his time.

However, the cricketer is more remembered by his fans for his tendency to either be run out or get his partner dismissed.

During his career, he was involved in many comical run-outs as the former star player got run out 40 times in ODI cricket.

And now in 2018, Inzamam's nephew Imam-ul-Haq seems to have inherited some of that infamous talent of his 'Mamu Jaan'.

In Pakistan’s tour match against Northamptonshire, Imam was involved in a comical run-out dismissal with Azhar Ali.

Imam tapped the ball to fine leg and took off running, but was watching the ball instead of his partner Azhar Ali, who, despite his best attempts to avoid a collision ended up barging into the batsman.

The result was Ali being run-out and Imam left standing at the non-striker's end.
