Nine years after its wildly successful Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), aka Mangalyaan, India is preparing to send another spacecraft to the red planet.

This was reported by Hindustan Times (HT) citing officials from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

MOM-2

The Mars Orbiter Mission-2 or MOM-2 would reportedly carry four payloads. As per documents assessed by the news outlet, these payloads would contain scientific instruments that will study aspects of the barren planet, including interplanetary dust, the Martian atmosphere and the environment.

According to the mission document, payloads will include: a Mars Orbit Dust Experiment (MODEX), a Radio Occultation (RO) experiment, an Energetic Ion Spectrometer (EIS) and a Langmuir Probe and Electric Field Experiment (LPEX).

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an ISRO official told HT that "all of these payloads are in different stages of development."

In the span of three days, fire accidents have affected the Apple iPhone assembly unit run by Taiwanese firm Pegatron and the Japanese firm Yazaki that makes automobile wirings, both of which are situated nearly 60 kilometres from the southern Indian metropolis of Chennai. Located in Tamil Nadu's Chengalpattu district, the Pegatron and Yazaki facilities are situated a few kilometres apart from each other. In both cases, the blaze was reported at night and is said to have started from an electric short circuit. Of the two, the Yazaki fire appears to have caused more operational and financial damage. The Yazaki factory fire began around 8:30pm Wednesday night and went on for two hours, before it was put out by multiple fire tenders. Videos from the site show the severe nature of the blaze and the extent to which the smoke was billowing from the factory. It is said that a shift was underway during the fire accident and all personnel managed to make it to safety in time.
An Indian court on Thursday (Sept 21) dismissed pleas filed by economic offender Mehul Choksi aimed at challenging efforts of India’s top economic intelligence agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), to declare him a Fugitive Economic Offender (FEO).

Bill gets Rahul Gandhi's support As per news agency ANI, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi extended his support to the Women's Reservation Bill. However, he said that the measure was "incomplete" as it lacks a quota for Other Backward Classes (OBC). "The moment the opposition raises the issue of caste census and Adani, the BJP tries to raise a new event so that the OBC community and the people of India look the other way. In my research for the speech, I took a look at the different institutions that define how our country moves forward. There are many — Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, bureaucracy, the press. And I look with an eye to understand what is the participation of the OBC community in these institutions," said Gandhi during a speech in Lok Sabha. He further said that the Women's Reservation Bill is a big step, but that he would like to see the OBC reservation included in this bill.
