India have been very consistent in T20Is since 2020 despite not having a great run in the last two T20 World Cups. In 2021, the Virat Kohli-led Men in Blue bowed out of the Super 10 round whereas India, under Rohit Sharma, reached the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 WC but crashed out with a ten-wicket loss at the hands of eventual winners England. Since last year's T20 WC, in Australia, India have been led by Hardik Pandya as Rohit, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and few other seniors have not featured in the shortest format, to concentrate on the longer formats due to the upcoming&nbsp;WTC final, in June, and ODI World Cup later this year.

Under Hardik, India defeated the likes of New Zealand (both home and away) and Sri Lanka in the shortest format.&nbsp;

Babar’s superlative form had helped him replace India captain Virat Kohli at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings last week and this week’s update sees him make a strong 47-point surge to overtake Australia’s Aaron Finch in the T20I rankings after scoring 122 in the third match.<o:p></o:p>

Though Babar is still 48 points adrift of top-ranked Dawid Malan of England, a three-match series against Zimbabwe from Wednesday presents the 26-year-old with another opportunity to move towards the top spot, which he had occupied till November last year.<o:p></o:p>

New Zealand batsman Devon Conway has attained a career-best fourth position in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, thanks to his match-winning knock in the series opener against Bangladesh in Hamilton on Sunday.

The left-hander, who has been keeping wickets in the series, smashed a superb 92 not out off 52 balls as New Zealand posted a massive 210 for three and won that match by 66 runs. He has advanced five positions and finds himself in the top five after only 13 matches, on the back of consistent performances against the West Indies, Pakistan, and Australia since his debut in November 2020.

Glenn Philips, who has unbeaten knocks of 24 and 58 to show and won the player of the match award in the second T20I in Napier as New Zealand took a winning 2-0 lead in the three-match series, has also attained a career-best status. He has moved up 32 places to 26th in the weekly update to the men’s rankings, carried out on Wednesdays.

Kohli, a formerly top-ranked batsman in the format and currently number one in ODIs, has gained one slot and a massive 47 rating points after unbeaten knocks of 73 and 77 in the second and third matches while Buttler’s match-winning 83 not out in the third match has helped him advance five places to 19th position, just two shy of his career-best 17th position attained in October 2018.

There were also some other fine performances in the series between the top two sides of the&nbsp;ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, providing them with a good opportunity to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year in India.

Dawid Malan has attained the highest-ever rating points for batsmen in the&nbsp;ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings&nbsp;after a terrific run saw him top the series aggregate with 173 runs and help England blank South Africa 3-0.

The 33-year-old left-hander has reached 915 points, the first to cross the 900-point mark after Australian Aaron Finch’s 900-point achievement in July 2018. Malan now enjoys a 44-point lead over Pakistan’s Babar Azam, whom he overtook to become number one in September this year.

Malan’s player of the series performance included a match-winning 99 not out in the final match and helped England leapfrog Australia to take top position in the&nbsp;ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.

England, who had started the series at 271 points, are now level with Australia at 275 points but ahead on decimal points. South Africa and New Zealand retain their fifth and sixth positions while the West Indies have slipped behind Afghanistan to 10th place after losing 2-0 to New Zealand in another series, performances of which are also included in Wednesday’s rankings update.

Faf du Plessis’s return to form, with an aggregate of 121 runs, has pushed him into the top 20.

Among the bowlers, England’s leg-spinner Adil Rashid is back to the 700-point mark, gaining three places to reach number 4. He is just one spot below his career-best third position achieved in November 2018. The top seven bowlers are all spinners, with Tabraiz Shamsi, South Africa’s top ranked bowler in 5th place.

Chris Jordan, who became England’s leading T20I wicket-taker in the third match against South Africa with his 66th wicket, has gained one place to reach 12th rank.

Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi makes an entry into the top 50 bowlers for the first time after taking four wickets in the series. His previous best was 67th in September this year.

The series in New Zealand saw the home side’s Lockie Ferguson leap 45 slots to 32nd position after finishing as the most successful bowler in the series with seven wickets, which included a player of the match effort of five for 21 in the first match.

Glenn Phillips celebrated his recall to the New Zealand T20I side for the first time in two years by smashing a century in the second match and climbing into the top 100 batsmen for the first time – ending the series in 86th place.&nbsp;

Kieron Pollard was the West Indian star of the series, scoring 103 runs at a strike rate of 198. That was good enough to take him up 18 places to the 57th rank with the bat and up to seventh place in the all-rounders’ table.

England's Dawid Malan attains highest-ever rating points in T20I history

England batsman Dawid Malan has replaced Pakistan's Babar Azam at the top of the ICC player rankings for T20I batsmen after a fruitful home series against Australia.

The 33-year-old left-hander has progressed four places after a series-topping run aggregate of 129, which included a player of the match effort of 66 in the first fixture. 
England won the series 2-1.

Malan, whose previous best ranking was second in November last year, is now eight rating points ahead of Azam. India's K L Rahul, who has not played international cricket in over six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has lost two places to be fourth and his skipper Virat Kohli has gained a spot to be ninth.

Malan's teammates Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler have also made headway in Wednesday's update.

Bairstow has gained three slots to reach a career-best 19th position after scoring 72 runs in the series while Buttler has moved from 40th to 28th after scoring 121 runs in two matches, which also won him the player of the series award.

For Australia, captain Aaron Finch's 125 runs in the series have helped him retain third position. Glenn Maxwell also holds on to his sixth position among batsmen while gaining one slot to reach second position in the list of all-rounders led by Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi.

England leg-spinner Adil Rashid has gained two slots to reach seventh position after finishing as the most successful bowler in the series with six wickets, while Australia left-arm spinner Ashton Agar's five wickets have enabled him retain third position, behind the Afghanistan spin pair of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman.

Australia fast bowler Kane Richardson has moved into the top 10 for the first time in his career after taking three wickets in the series while his compatriot Mitchell Starc (up seven places to 18th) and England's Mark Wood (up 41 places to 79th) have also made notable gains.

Meanwhile, Australia have reclaimed the top spot in the team rankings after briefly conceding it to England during the series.

The Virat Kohli-led Team India has lost their numero uno spot in the ICC Test rankings for the first time since October 2016 with Australia taking over the charge atop the rankings chart. The International Cricket Council on Friday announced the latest Test rankings in which Australia are the leaders followed by New Zealand and India at number two and three respectively.&nbsp;

The latest rankings rate all matches played since May 2019 at 100 per cent whereas the matches player in previous two years at 50 per cent. The Tim Paine-led Baggy Greens have 116 points under their belt whereas New Zealand (115) remains a close second while India drops to the third spot with 114 points to their name. &nbsp;

After an exceptional performance in the last T20I against New Zealand, Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga moved from 41st to 21st position in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings updated on Saturday.

Malinga's five-wicket haul in the final match on Friday, which included the incredible feat of four wickets off consecutive balls for the second time in his international career, helped him finish with seven wickets in the series and advance from 41st to 21st position.

Malinga, along with New Zealand's left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, have made major gains in the T20I Player Rankings after the conclusion of the three-match series, which New Zealand won by 2-1.

Santner's four wickets in the series has helped him enter the top five — up from 11th position. Fast bowler Tim Southee moved 14 places to 15th spot, while New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme gained 43 places to 80th in the latest rankings update for batsmen.
