The land in Kancha Gachibowli was taken over by excavators and other heavy equipment over the weekend after orders to clear the land.</p>
<p>Students have been protesting against the action on the land, saying it would disturb the biodiversity of the region. They are demanding that the government safeguard the land, which they say belongs to the university. <p>Meanwhile, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) claims that "development works and auction of the land will not affect the ecosystem, including rocks." It added that "no lake exists in the land allotted for development."</p>
<p>"Buffalo Lake and Peacock Lake are not within the limits of the 400 acres being developed by the TGIIC. False reports have been published in a section of the media on this particular issue," TGIIC said in a statement.</p>
<p>The Telangana government asserted on Monday that the land belonged to the government and that HCU did not possess any land in the project area. The land was previously allotted to a private company 21 years ago, after which the government acquired it through a legal battle.</p>

<p>Gurumurthy, who is a retired Army soldier from Andhra Pradesh state, allegedly killed his wife P Venkata Madhavi, dismembered her body, boiled the parts and disposed them at several nearby locations, including a lake in the city&rsquo;s outskirts.</p>

<p>Gurumurthy has confessed to the crime and Hyderabad Police have been trying to gather technical and scientific evidence to corroborate the claims over the past few days, but with little success.</p>
<p>&ldquo;We cannot go by mere claims. We are collecting all technical and scientific pieces of evidence. The case is under investigation,&rdquo; Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.</p>
<p>Gurumurthy has been taken into police custody but no arrest has been made so far in this case.</p>
<p>Police say they still don&rsquo;t have enough clues as to what happened to the wife&rsquo;s body.</p>

<p>As per the findings, around one-third of homebuyers in the southern Indian cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad said that they prefer buying residential plots. On the other hand, 70 per cent of buyers in northern and western Indian regions like Delhi-NCR and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) said they preferred apartments.</p>

<p>More people buy properties for personal use rather than investments, the research found. Out of the investors, 57 per cent buy properties for rental income and 20 per cent buy for reselling after appreciation in value.</p>

<p>Excise Department officials in the Indian city of Hyderabad have seized and shut down an ice cream parlour for selling ice cream mixed with whiskey, and arrested several people involved in the act, the Telangana police said on Friday (Sep 6).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The incident came to light when the Excise Department team raided Arika Cafe Ice Cream Parlour on roads 1 and 5 in the Jubilee Hills area of the city.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the raid, the police seized 23 pieces, totalling 11.5 kg of whiskey ice cream, and registered a case against the accused.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

India: Cockroaches, unhygienic food preparation practices found in restaurants at Malakpet and Dilsukhnagar

<p>An 18-month-old toddler was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in India on Tuesday (Jul 16) night. The tragic incident happened in Adarsh Nagar of Jawahar Nagar in Hyderabad.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Social media users said that the incidents of dog bites have increased in the city, urging Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) should focus on controlling the dog menace.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Local police said that the incident occurred when the boy was playing outside his home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One stray dog pounced on the toddler and dragged him away and then, other stray dogs also attacked the child. The dogs left the child with severe injuries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>News agency IANS reported that his parents, Bharat and Lakshmi, rushed out and chased away the stray dogs when they heard the boy's cries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jawahar Nagar police registered a case when the victim's family registered a complaint. The local police said that the boy reportedly followed his mother, who went to a nearby general store.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police said, "He left the home shortly after his mother did and was initially attacked by one stray dog before he was dragged about 10-15 metres away. According to locals there were about 10 dogs involved in the attack which proved fatal for the boy."&nbsp;</p>

<p>They rushed their son to a hospital but as per reports, he had already succumbed. The police said, "He succumbed due to injuries on his head, limbs and torso at around 9.30 pm (local time)."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chief Minister&nbsp;of Telangana, Anumula Revanth Reddy has expressed grief over the incident and instructed officials to take immediate action against the menace of stray dogs. He asked them to establish a call centre or a toll-free number to receive complaints.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Previously, in June 2015, a BA LLB law student from NALSAR (National Academy of Legal Studies and Research) University requested that their gender not be identified in the graduation certificate. The Hyderabad-based university agreed, and allowed the student to use the honorific prefix 'Mx' instead of 'Ms,' marking a significant step towards recognising gender fluidity in India.</p>

<p>Several years later, in March 2022, NALSAR University designated a hostel floor as an inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students, further promoting a supportive environment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The progressive steps, as per the Indian Express, continued last year when Dr Ruth Paul John became the first transgender doctor to pursue post-graduation in the country. After securing a position in the MD Emergency Medicine programme at ESI Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr Ruth, supported by Osmania General Hospital and voluntary organisations, raised funds to enroll in the programme.</p>

<p>A case was filed against BJP candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Madhavi Latha on Monday (May 13) after her video asking burqa-clad Muslim women to reveal their faces at a polling booth in order to match identities with the voter ID cards went viral on the internet.&nbsp;</p>
