Rajula Hira Solanki, a lawmaker of the state assembly from Rajula constituency, was at the spot when the whole incident took place.&nbsp;

On May 31 afternoon, four youths ventured into a creek near a seashore in Patwa village for a swim. However, they were overwhelmed by strong currents and powerful waves and started getting drifted towards deep water.

As the youths started screaming for help, Solanki, who just happened to be at the spot, heard and rushed towards them. He was then able to rescue them with the help of some other people.

Three out of the four youths were rescued. But the fourth, Jeevan Gujaria, died due to drowning. His body was found in the evening.

This is the third incident that has taken place last month. On May 20, six members of a family drowned in the seawater in the city of Bharuch, more than 300 kilometres from Patwa.&nbsp;

The incident took place at Dajej Beach in Bharuch when a family hailing from Muller Village had gone for a picnic.

On May 14, five children in Gujarat's Botad district drowned in the Krishna Sagar Lake. According to local media reports, two children were swimming in the lake when they started drowning. Following this, three others jumped into the lake to save them and eventually, they also drowned.

India's law enforcement agency Enforcement Directorate in April registered a case against BBC's India news broadcaster in connection to the foreign exchange violations allegations. The case was filed under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).&nbsp;

India's Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in a release noted that BBC group entities' income and profits which were disclosed are "not commensurate" with respect to its operations' scale.&nbsp;"The survey operations also revealed that services of seconded employees have been utilised for which reimbursement has been made by the Indian entity to the foreign entity concerned," it added.&nbsp;

India's Income Tax Department carried out tax surveys at BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai in the month of February. The IT department had reportedly "gathered several evidence" which suggest that "tax has not been paid on certain remittances" which have not been disclosed as income in India by the foreign entities of the group.&nbsp;

The BBC raids came after the UK broadcaster on 17 January released a documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots under the title ‘India: The Modi Question’. The release of the documentary drew sharp reaction from the Indian government who opposed it and ordered curbs on its release on various social media platforms.&nbsp;

India's Delhi HC summons BBC in defamation suit over Modi documentary

A special court in Ahmedabad in the western Indian state of Gujarat on Thursday acquitted the 69 accused in the 2002 Naroda Gam riots case where 11 Muslims were killed.&nbsp;Special judge Shubhada Baxi pronounced the result as former BJP MLA Maya Kodani, ex-Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and&nbsp;Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Jaydeep Patel were among those freed.&nbsp;

The specially designated court was formed to conduct a speedy trial of the 2002 Gujarat riot cases. It had completed the hearing on April 5 and reserved the judgement. A total of 86 were accused in the case but 18 died, leaving only 69 to stand trial. According to reports,&nbsp;182 prosecution witnesses were examined during the hearing.

<h2>Naroda Gam riots</h2>

The Naroda Gam riots transpired in the aftermath of the burning of the Sabarmati Express train on February 27, 2002, which kickstarted the Gujarat riots. The train was carrying 59 passengers, mostly 'karsevaks' (Hindu religious volunteers), who were returning from the holy city of Ayodhya.

A day later,&nbsp;protests started against the burning of the train11 Muslims were burnt to death after a frenzied mob set their houses on fire in a locality known as Muslim Mahollam Kumbhar Vas in the Naroda Gam area of Ahmedabad.&nbsp;

Maya Surendrakumar Kodnani, a politician who had won the&nbsp;Naroda assembly seat in 1998 was dubbed the prime accused. Alongside her, other accused were tried for&nbsp;murder, attempted murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, rioting armed with deadly weapons, criminal conspiracy, and provoking riots, among others.

In 2012, a special trial court gave its first judgement in the case and Kodnani was&nbsp;convicted along with 31 people. She was given a 28-year prison term with the first 10 years ordered under&nbsp;Section 326 &nbsp;(voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and the second for 18 years under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).&nbsp;

The incident took place in the Vinchiya village of Vinchiya taluka in Rajkot district. Police, as per a TOI report, are investigating whether the dual suicide was part of a superstitious or black magic ritual.&nbsp;

The deceased, a couple in their mid-30s, have been identified as Hemu Makwana and Hansa Makwana. The parents of two children — a 13-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter left behind a handwritten note.

Reportedly, a day before killing themselves, the Makwanas sent their two children to their maternal uncle's house. Upon returning, the teenage children discovered the decapitated bodies of their parents.

Vinchiya police sub-inspector Indrajitsinh Jadeja told the press that their bodies have been sent to Rajkot civil hospital for forensic postmortem.&nbsp;

He said that "it is believed that they pulled up the blades of the guillotine themselves and released it in such a manner that their heads fell into a 'havan kund'," said Jadeja. Here 'havan kund' may refer to a vessel used in fire rituals where offerings are burnt as a prayer to the gods.

Near the 'havan kund' they had placed a makeshift temple and a picture of lord Shiva, along with a mud&nbsp;Shivling (an idol dedicated to Lord Shiva).

Police are recording statements of family members to help identify the reason behind this drastic step. The officials, however, say that they believe that the couple was not facing any financial problems or engaged in any family disputes.

Normally, we expect influenza to be the number 1 virus that can lead to hospitalisation. This time Influenza A virus subtype H3N2 has led to a lot of respiratory tract infections," as quoted by news agency ANI.&nbsp;

Manjula Ben and one of her sons were also injured in the attack.

According to the police complaint, filed by Vaghela's wife Manjula Ben, the attack occurred on Saturday night in the Kheda district in Gujarat state.

Vaghela, his wife, two sons and nephew had gone to the teenage boy's house to complain against him for allegedly uploading a video of the girl.&nbsp;

&nbsp;“The exam supervisor changes daily and they do not know all students personally. However, they check the hall tickets. In this case, another student in the same hall alerted the supervisor that a boy used to sit on the specific seat number where the girl was seated that day,” said a college faculty member of the college where the incident took place according to Times of India.

The toughest punishment for someone who is caught for appearing as a dummy candidate is the cancellation of their own degree. “If the university rewards the maximum punishment, then the real student’s previous results can also be debarred from taking the exam for the next three years,” a member of the FACT committee said.

24-year-old woman gets caught trying to appear in exam in place of her boyfriend

A South Korean man died in Gujarat , Sunday evening after falling from a height of fifty feet during paragliding. PTI reported that the accident happened at a school ground in Visatpura village near Kadi town in Gujarat’s Mehsana district. The report added that the man crash-landed on the ground as his paraglider failed to open. The incident took place at 5:30 PM local time. The man, aged 50, was rushed to a local hospital in a semi-conscious state, where doctors later declared him dead. Patel was administered the oath as the 18th Chief Minister by Governor Acharya Devvrat at the Helipad Ground near the new Secretariat in Gandhinagar at 2 pm.

The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of BJP-led states. 
As per sources, about 20 cabinet ministers will also take oath on the same day, along with Bhupendra Patel and will take charge of their respective offices, the very next day.

BJP swept the Gujarat Assembly election winning a whopping 156 seats, which is the highest number of seats any party has won after the formation of the state in the year 1960. 
The BJP's seventh consecutive Assembly poll win in Gujarat is its biggest since the founding of this state in 1960.

Patel was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat on September 13, 2021. He was first elected as BJP legislative party leader on September 12, 2021. He began his political journey as a member in Memnagar municipality and got elected as MLA from Ghatlodia constituency (Ahmedabad) in the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections.

Breaking his own record, Patel once again won from Ghatlodia constituency by a staggering margin of 1,91,000 votes in the 2022 election.

Patel has vast experience in administration, having served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and as a Corporator for Thaltej ward from 2010 to 2015. He began his political career in 1995 when he was appointed as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Memnagar municipality.

He served the municipality for over a decade, becoming Chairman of the local body during 1999-2000 and 2004-2006.

During this tenure, he served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

In 2015, he was appointed as the chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). In 2017, Patel became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the first time, by winning the election from Ghatlodia constituency with a wide margin of 1,17,000 votes.

Born on July 15, 1962, in Ahmedabad, Patel holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad. He is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He is also an active member of Pandit Deendayal Library managed by RSS at Memnagar.

The BJP created history in Gujarat with a landslide victory in the 2022 election and its 7th consecutive win. It is the party's largest win in Gujarat since the state's formation in 1960. It is an important win for the BJP.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal tried hard to woo the people of Gujarat with the promises of providing free electricity and water, Rs 1,000 per month for women and a loan waiver for farmers. On the other hand, Congress also tried to attract voters with all kinds of sops.

The BJP bagged 156 seats in the 182-member Assembly, its highest-ever poll tally in the state. The opposition Congress could manage only 17 seats while Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party had to be content with just 5 seats.
