A Las Vegas Metro police officer received a call from a citizen on April 30, at around 11:50 pm in Las Vegas, Nevada before he briefly saw a bright light streak across the night sky, according to a report published by Newsweek. 
 
According to the police official, the unidentified flying object (UFO) shined brightly and moved through the sky. The occurrence of this unexplained phenomenon led the police to launch an investigation.

In an hour, the police received a call from a man who claimed that something had fallen from the sky and said that he can see two figures walking in his northwest valley backyard, according to the report.

In the call, the individual claimed the figures to be "aliens" and stated that they were 8 feet and 10 feet tall. He also claimed that they possessed big shiny eyes and large mouths. 
 
"There's like an 8-foot person beside it and another one is inside and it has big eyes and it's looking at us—and it's still there," the caller said to a dispatcher. 
 
The dispatcher then questioned the man where exactly were these figures present on his property and tried to get more information. "In my backyard. I swear to God this is not a joke, this is actually, we're terrified," said the caller. 
 
"They're very large. They're like 8 feet, 9 feet, 10 feet. They look like aliens to us. Big eyes. They have big eyes. Like, I can't explain it, and big mouth. They're shiny eyes and they're not human. They're 100 per cent&nbsp;not human,” he added. 
 
After receiving the call, the police visited the home of the complainant and sought details about the incident. They also informed them that their official also saw a bright suspicious object in the sky earlier in the evening.

As per the report, the infant's parents, Mary and Anthony, have started the non-profit organisation “For Henry” to raise $3 million so that the child can receive a genetic treatment, which if turns out to be successful will make the infant the case of AHC to be treated and will also open the path for others suffering from the similar disorder to receive treatment.

Did I give the first dose of rescue medication?” Saladino said while speaking to CNN.

“It’s an unbelievable amount of trauma and it’s going to happen over and over again, no matter what we do, until we develop this treatment,” she added.

The family is running against time to make it possible that Henry receives the treatment before his brain is irreversibly damaged during one of his seizures.

Samira Islam, 20, died on Friday after being found unconscious in a locked room with her family in eastern Sylhet city on July 26. Earlier, her father Rafiqul Islam, 51—a taxi driver—and his 16-year-old son, Mahiqul, had died in the rented flat.

Hundreds of people came out in Sylhet to pay their respects at the funeral of Rafiqul and Mahiqul on 28 July.

According to BBC, which quoted sources, Samira’s mother, Husnara, 45, and the elder son, Sadiqul, 24, were being treated and&nbsp;have since been released from the hospital.

The family of five was on a two-month holiday trip to the South Asian country when they suddenly fell ill.

The police said they collapsed following a meal and tests are being carried out to determine whether they were poisoned via the food or the heating system. It is being said that the family members died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

The two survivors informed the police that there was a faulty electricity generator in the apartment that was used on the night of the incident. The device emitted smoke, which the police believe could be behind the poisoning.

“Our primary suspicion is they were poisoned,” police official Supt Farid Uddin was quoted as saying.

He added that all family members slept in the same room, the doors were locked and there was no sign of forced entry.

“Our investigators are speaking with the relatives of the victims. So far, we don’t think they have any enmity with anyone,” Uddin added.

Meanwhile, friends of the family in Cardiff have expressed utter shock and disbelief at the tragic news.

"It’s very terrible. It’s very tragic, hard to take in,” Muhibur Islam, member of the Jalalia mosque and Islamic education centre, was quoted as saying.

"The circumstances are not clear. We’re praying that those who have survived will pull through. We’re praying for them all," he added.

Family of a British journalist who has gone missing in Amazon calls for deeper search

A five-membered family of Sri Lankan Tamils arrived on Indian shores in the wee hours of Tuesday, after fleeing their home country and taking a dangerous boat ride across the seas. Hailing from Jaffna, in the northern part of the island nation, this family is among several others who are being pushed to the brink amid the ongoing severe economic crisis in the island nation. Dayalan, the head of the family, his wife, their children, a two-month-old infant and a six-year-old girl, and their grandmother, were taken to the Marine Police station, on receipt of information regarding their arrival.&nbsp;

While being questioned by the Indian authorities, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the family is said to have cited the basic livelihood issues and the daily struggles faced by those in the lower economic strata of Sri Lanka's. Among the reasons that prompted their extreme decision to flee their homeland are the skyrocketing prices of essentials, a kilogramme of milk powder being sold at Lankan Rs. 2000 (5.7 USD), the unavailability of vaccines meant for infants, meagre daily wages, and the fear of starving to death.

It is said that the five-member family has been sent to the Mandapam refugee camp in the Ramanathapuram district. The illegal influx of Lankan Tamils into India began on March 22nd and families continue to arrive in batches of up to 18 people, in the hope of a better life across the Palk Strait.&nbsp;

Recently, the Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution to provide aid to Sri Lanka and provide succour to a country that is faced with its worst-ever economic crisis. The decision to provide aid to all of Sri Lanka is a volte-face by the Tamil Nadu government. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government had offered to provide aid only to Lankan Tamils. This move had faced backlash from the island nation. Many Lankan Tamil voices were clear that they were not willing to accept aid from Tamil Nadu, if it was only going to help Lankan Tamils. The Lankan Tamils were firm in their stance that any aid must benefit their entire country and not one community alone.&nbsp;

Júlia, who is a widow, told The Sun, "The train ride was very difficult. Hundreds were crammed in a single car. But we had to escape so our family could be back together. I’d like to thank everyone from my heart. We have to start from scratch. We lost everything we’ve had but we’re healthy."&nbsp; &nbsp;

A host of former teammates and international stars were among those present to bid farewell to former Australia spinner Shane Warne at a private funeral in Melbourne on Sunday.

Warne tragically died from a heart attack at the age of 52 earlier this month.

As per an official ICC release, Warne will be given a full public service at his beloved Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) later this month, but approximately 80 of his nearest and dearest friends and family were in Melbourne on Sunday to pay their respect.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan was in attendance, while Australian stars Glenn McGrath, Merv Hughes, Ian Healy and Mark Waugh were among a group of his former teammates also at the private event.

The award-winning photograph — of a man who had lost a leg in a bomb attack in Syria, hoisting into the air his son, born without limbs, another casualty of the country’s civil war — went viral last year in Italy.

On Friday, Munzir El Nezzel, the man in the picture, and his son Mustafa arrived in Italy after a remarkable effort by the organizers of the Siena International Photo Awards, to bring them and their family from Turkey, where they had fled after Syria.

“We are coming, thank you,” 6-year-old Mustafa, smiling broadly, said in a video message recorded before he and his family — El Nezzel, the boy’s mother and two sisters ages 1 and 4 — boarded a plane in Ankara, Turkey, on Thursday to fly to Italy. “We love Italia,” he added.

The picture of Mustafa and his father, both with loving smiles, which was taken in January 2021 by Turkish photographer Mehmet Aslan and called “Hardship of Life,” was declared photo of the year at the Siena awards last year.

The emotional and shocking picture made headlines in Italy and spread internationally on social media, spurring the festival’s organizers to take action and start a fundraising drive to get treatment for father and son.

The festival’s organizers contacted diplomats, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and the Catholic diocese in Siena to host the Syrian family, so that Mustafa and his father could get treatment and prosthetics.

“The picture was beyond all imagination,” said Luca Venturi, an engineer who founded the Siena photography festival, which bestowed the award, about six years ago. “We thought we could also go beyond our fear of not being able to do anything for this family.”

Like all countries, Italy can issue visas for humanitarian reasons, but refugees need to be sponsored by a local organization that handles paperwork and provides financial support.

Motivated by the success of the crowdfunding effort, the nonprofit that organizes the photography festival decided to sponsor the Syrian family.

“It was a big dream for everybody,” Venturi said.

As Venturi worked his connections in Italy, trying to get permission to bring the family from Turkey, he kept regular contact with El Nezzel via WhatsApp, using Google Translate to communicate in Arabic with the 33-year-old father of three.

Venturi also sent aerial shots of Siena’s walled medieval city center to explain to the family, who had lived without a television for a decade, where they were going to move.

El Nezzel responded with exclamation points.

When the family was told this month that their visas had come through, “they were in disbelief,” Venturi said, adding that in a video, Mustafa did somersaults and laughed, shouting “I love you” to him.

Mustafa was born with a congenital disorder that resulted from medications that his mother had to take while pregnant with him, after she was sickened by nerve gas released during the war in Syria. He will need long-term treatment to be able to walk or live more independently. His parents currently carry him around, and one of his two sisters also helps him around the house.

Prosthetics experts in Italy will meet with Mustafa and his father in coming weeks to design new artificial limbs. El Nezzel’s treatment is likely to be easier because he is an adult. Working with a 6-year-old will be more challenging, according to the doctors and engineers of Italy’s leading rehabilitation and prosthetics center.

Gregorio Teti, director of the facility, the Centro Protesi Inail, in Vigorso di Budrio in northern Italy, said that the father could recover most of his mobility in a few weeks.

For Mustafa, the process could be longer, starting with simple prosthetics on his upper limbs that are usually easier to accept and get accustomed to. Later, engineers will design artificial limbs around Mustafa’s hips.

“It’s a technical but also a psychological learning curve,” Teti said. “His world will change, and even accepting that takes time.”

As Mustafa grows, his prosthetics will have to be adjusted to his changing body.

“As a child, he has time on his side,” Teti said. “Research will probably allow him to drive a car and get to work autonomously when he is older.”

But he will also be facing the challenges of migrating to a foreign country, learning a different language and creating a new life.

“Leaving your home country is always an enormous jump, but we hope to help them find a new home here,” said Anna Ferretti, who is in charge of the city’s branch of Caritas, a Catholic aid association that is offering the El Nezzels an apartment on the outskirts of Siena and will cover their daily financial needs for a year.

Since 2016, the Community of Sant’Egidio, a Catholic charity, together with various Protestant churches in Italy, has brought more than 4,300 refugees from around the world to Italy from camps in Lebanon, Ethiopia, Greece and Libya.

Ferretti added that a couple of Syrian families settled in Siena years ago, and they will help the five members of the El Nezzel family get accustomed to their new lives.

“This is a small city and the solidarity network is strong,” she said. “Together, we are going to make it.”

A civil lawsuit has been filed by the family of Gabby Petito against Christopher and Roberta Laundrie. In it, the complainants have alleged that they knew their son, Brian Laundrie, murdered Gabby Petito and were trying to help him flee the country. &nbsp;

"I will forever cherish our final memories together laughing and joking around with each other."

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the country has been struggling to battle poverty. Amid concerns of rising poverty and starvation, various aid agencies distributed food, blankets and cash to nearly 130 displaced families in Kabul.&nbsp;

UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said that around 9 million Afghans are "just one step away from starvation." He further added that 700,000 people, mostly women and children, have been displaced this year alone.

The distribution was overseen by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Danish aid agency DACAAR.

"It's a story of hunger, of conflict, of poverty and now winter is coming as well. Afghans need help desperately and quickly," said Baloch.

To battle growing poverty, the Taliban has also launched a programme in which they will exchange wheat for labour. "This is an important step for fighting unemployment," Zabihullah Mujahid said.&nbsp;
